What Separates Me and You

Chapter 370 Take a Shower

Dazed, Josephine stood in the middle of the water. Quintin helped her tie her hair up in a bun. It looked messy, and she had damp baby hairs stuck to her cheeks. However, her tiny face remained uncovered. Coupled with the loose hair falling next to her face, she looked effortlessly attractive.

Her dark yet clear gaze was fixed on Lewis. She felt unfamiliar and nervous.

Lewis didn't do anything. He simply stood at the edge and watched her.

Josephine retracted her gaze and started searching for Quintin. However, he was nowhere to be seen. Panic, she began lurching toward the edge.

Finally, she got out of the pool. The cold wind hit her, making her shiver. She then grabbed the bathrobe on the bench and put it on.

She searched everywhere, including the wooden cabin and the yard, but she couldn't find Quintin.

Josephine turned back and saw Lewis still standing at the edge of the hot spring, staring at her from far away.

Biting her lip, she mustered her courage and approached the man. She lifted her hands but couldn't gesture any complicated sign language. Hence, she simply gestured, "He's gone." Lewis helped her and Quintin before. She thought he might be a kind person.

He nodded and answered solemnly, "Yes, he abandoned you."

With widened eyes, Josephine stared at him in disbelief as if she didn't believe what he said. However, her eyes gradually turned red.

Thinking that Lewis was lying to her, she wanted to ignore him and turn to leave.

Lewis grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "Where are you going?"

Josephine refused to talk to him. She struggled with all her might but couldn't break free. Left with no choice, she pushed him.

Lewis grabbed her other hand effortlessly, and Josephine instantly lost control. Furious, she glared at him with her red eyes.

Lewis frowned. He seemed to be unaware of the hatred in her eyes. "I told you he's never coming back."

Josephine almost subconsciously shook her head.

"You don't believe me? Do you see a single shadow of him here?"

Josephine looked around, and indeed, she didn't catch a trace of Quintin's presence. Tears rolled down her eyes. Pouting, she began crying. Upon seeing this, Lewis released his grip on her hand.

The next second, she suddenly raised her hand and pushed him away forcefully. She tried to vent all her anger on him.

He stumbled at the unexpected push and grabbed Josephine's collar at the last second.

The two fell into the water together, splashing patches of waterwork. Their clothes were soaked.

Josephine flopped around in the water. Although the water was shallow, she couldn't get up because she was face down.

She choked on the water and began to feel suffocated.

As she was struggling in despair, a pair of big hands supported her arms and pulled her up.

Josephine sat in the pool and coughed violently. She coughed up a lot of water.

After a long while, she got her breath back.

Suddenly, a chuckle rang out beside her.

Josephine angrily turned around and saw Lewis sitting in the pool like a drowned rat. His hair was dripping with water, and his soaked shirt was tightly pressed against his skin. She could vaguely see the muscle contours under his clothes.

Both of them were in a mess.

"You really don't believe me?" Lewis looked at her indifferently.

She raised her hand and wiped the water from her face as her lips trembled. It wasn't that she didn't believe Lewis, but she couldn't accept the fact that Quintin didn't want her anymore.

Without Quintin, she had nowhere else to go. She had to face this unfamiliar world all on her own.

It was terrifying.

Lewis said, "You can wait here and see if he'll come back for you."

After saying that, he stood up from the water and walked toward the shore.

Lewis rescued her yesterday, and she no longer resisted him like back then, although she still wasn't that fond of him.

Lewis' clothes were soaked through, and they were sitting in a yard that was only two or three degrees. In less than a minute, his frozen clothes were clinging to his body. "Let go."

Josephine hesitated momentarily, but she hugged him tighter instead of letting him go. She was worried the man would disappear like Quintin. Lewis' veins bulged, and he reached out to pull her out of the water. "Get out of the water. Go change your clothes, and I'll take you to find him."

At the mention of Quintin, Josephine nodded and quickly went ashore before running toward the wooden cabin to get changed as fast as possible. Lewis casually grabbed a bathrobe and draped it over his body. For some reason, he looked extremely pale.

Josephine stared at him for a while and took the initiative to hold his hand, indicating she wanted him to bring her back.

Lewis glanced at her without any doubt. She would never hesitate to follow anyone who claimed they could find Quintin.

The two walked out of the yard, and Conrad was guarding outside. Seeing Lewis' pale face, he asked with concern, "Chairman Alvarez, are you okay?" Lewis raised his hand to interrupt Conrad, indicating he was fine.

He then pulled Josephine and quickly headed toward the resort.

Feeling somewhat skeptical, Conrad followed behind. What did Lewis tell Josephine? How did he make her obey him just like that?

After returning to the hotel room, Lewis took a shower in the bathroom, but he didn't lock the door.

Soon, he keenly sensed something and turned to look at the door.

Sure enough, Josephine was standing at the door and staring at him like a thief.

He wasn't as innocent as Quintin. He raised his hand to turn off the shower before walking out of the bathroom and wrapping himself in a towel. "Do you want to take a shower too?"

Josephine shook her head. Her gaze fell on the bandage on Lewis' chest. She seemed curious.

Lewis grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the bathroom. "Remove your clothes."

Josephine stared straight at him. She only wanted to urge Lewis so that they could start searching for Quintin. She had no intention of taking a shower. Lewis continued, "You just took a bath in the hot spring. You need to wash yourself."

She fell silent momentarily but still obeyed his words. She removed her clothes and followed Lewis into the bathroom to take a shower.

Of course, she didn't know how to wash herself, and Lewis had to do everything for her.

The bathroom was steaming. Standing against the wall, Josephine stared at Lewis' face for quite a while. She thought he was really good-looking.
