What Separates Me and You

Chapter 368 Nosebleed

Quintin and Josephine were both startled, especially Quintin. Feeling guilty, he jolted up from the sofa.

He glanced at the room door and was relieved when he realized it was still closed.

However, the next second, another noise rang out. Quintin gulped, his gaze fixed on the door. He wanted to open the door, but thinking Lewis might be outside, he called the hotel's customer service line and asked them to handle the matter instead.

The customer service had already dispatched someone to deal with the situation before they received the call.

"Sir, we've already sent someone to handle it. It's a drunken guest. We sincerely apologize for disturbing your rest."

Upon hearing this, Quintin let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, that's good. It's alright, then."

After hanging up, he turned back to look at Josephine, no longer harboring the dirty thoughts he had before. He had initially considered getting a new room but was concerned about Josephine's safety if she were left alone.

He approached her and gently touched her head, then lowered his voice to ask, "You can sleep inside, and I'll sleep on the sofa outside."

Leaning on the backrest of the sofa, Josephine stared at him intently. Upon hearing his words, she shook her head.

Quintin didn't understand her intention. "Are you saying you're not tired or that you don't want to sleep inside?"

Josephine remained silent briefly. She then pointed at Quintin and at herself before clasping her hands together, indicating that she wanted to sleep together.

Quintin blinked his eyes, finally understanding her meaning. He instantly became nervous.

"You... You mean you want to sleep with me?"

Josephine smiled brightly and nodded eagerly.

He touched his nose, hesitating. "This isn't quite appropriate. I promised you before ..."

She didn't understand the situation now, but what if, by some chance, she remembered what happened here today in the future? She would hate him for it.

Josephine's smile faltered when she heard him reject her. She pouted with a pitiful expression while staring at him.

Unable to bear her gaze, he scratched his head and turned away to avoid it. "You should sleep alone. I'll take you to the hot springs tomorrow."

Hot springs were good for health, and he felt that Josephine needed that.

Quintin glanced at her again. "Can you take a bath by yourself?" Josephine blinked her eyes and shook her head.

He was speechless.

His gaze traced her face and slowly moved down to her neck. Her hair brushed against her collar, and although he couldn't see her collarbone clearly, he couldn't stop his imagination from going wild. Then, he felt a warm sensation on his nose, and liquid flowed out.

Quintin instinctively touched it and looked at his fingers. They were bright red.

Shocked, he covered his mouth and nose before quickly rushing to the bathroom. He turned on the faucet and washed his face before tilting his head back and stuffing tissue into his nose. Finally, he heaved a sigh of relief.

Once he had stopped the nosebleed, he stripped off his clothes and took a cold shower to calm himself down.

In his mind, he recited mantras and admonished himself. He should not entertain any improper thoughts. After all, Josephine was currently "five years old," and he would be committing a criminal offense. It would be inhumane!

With his eyes closed, Quintin muttered to himself. Suddenly, he felt someone poking his arm.

His body tensed slightly as the cold water washed over his face. Gulping, he went through several rounds of mental preparation before slowly opening his eyes and stiffly turning his head.

Standing before him, Josephine was curiously observing him.

Quintin instinctively covered his private parts. Bending over, he stared at her in horror. "W-What are you doing in here?"

Josephine seemed confused. She glanced at Quintin's chest before lowering her gaze.

Quintin was speechless.

"You need to leave now! Hurry, listen to me!" Quintin's face was flushed red. He had never felt so embarrassed before, especially when looking at Josephine's innocent eyes and her curiosity shining through them.

She shook her head and wanted to remove her clothes. Quintin was frightened out of his wits. He quickly rushed over to hold her hand.

"Josephine, please leave first. I'm begging you!"

She paused her actions and diverted her gaze to his chest.

Helpless, Quintin immediately covered himself. Eventually, he had no choice but to take small, careful steps out of the shower before hastily grabbing a towel and wrapping it around his waist. Only then did he feel a semblance of dignity restored.

He pushed Josephine and ushered her out of the bathroom before leading her back to the bedroom.

He pressed her onto the bed and glared at her with exasperation. "You're going to sleep here, got it?"

Perhaps his tone was slightly stern as Josephine shrunk back and reluctantly nodded.

He breathed a sigh of relief. He grabbed the towel and exited the bedroom, reminding her as he closed the door, "Go to bed, and don't come out."

Josephine stared at him with a look of resentment as if she was complaining.

Quintin couldn't be bothered to worry about that now. He closed the door behind him, stood at the doorway, and let out a long sigh. When he returned to the bathroom this time, he was clever enough to lock the door.

In the opposite room, a man glared at the tablet on the coffee table, his face dark with anger.

Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Conrad stood behind Lewis. He would occasionally steal glances at the man on the sofa. However, Lewis rarely showed any other expression besides his gloomy face. He was at a loss for what to do.

When he saw Josephine about to remove her sleepwear in the video, he quickly turned away. "Chairman Alvarez, I'll wait for you outside."

With that, Conrad hurriedly escaped the room. He was afraid that he might be a step too slow. Who knew what Lewis might think if he saw something he shouldn't have?

Lewis remained silent throughout the whole time. He leaned back on the sofa calmly, his gaze never leaving the tablet.

Josephine noticed the watch on her wrist while changing her clothes. Curious, she brought her wrist closer to her face and looked closely. She then saw her own face appearing on the watch. She made various expressions on the watch, and all of them were captured by this small watch and displayed on another computer screen.

The most crucial thing was that she wasn't wearing any clothes.

Lewis pinched his brow, closed his eyes, and leaned back.

After Josephine had finished playing with the watch and found it no longer interesting, she took out the new clothes Quintin bought her and changed into them before lying on the bed to sleep. Without any worries or troubles, she fell asleep quickly. In less than five minutes, she drifted off to sleep.

Lewis opened his eyes and looked at the screen again. The laptop displayed her sleeping face.

The image on the laptop was high-definition and large, allowing him to have a clear view of her.

Her long hair scattered over her cheeks, covering most of her face, leaving only the delicate tip of her nose visible. Her lips were faintly visible as well. She seemed to be smacking them like she was dreaming of eating something delicious.

Lewis stared at her lips, and a smile subconsciously appeared at the corner of his mouth.

She turned over and smacked her lips twice again. Her long eyelashes trembled as if she were dreaming of something, but she quickly returned to normal.

Lighting a cigarette, Lewis crossed his legs and silently watched the laptop.

Just then, the bedroom door was pushed open, and a shadowy figure sneaked in.

Lewis stared at the figure on the screen, his gaze turning a shade darker.
