Chapter 26 An Eye for an Eye
Sensing that someone was watching her, Isobel subconsciously turned to look in the direction. After meeting Hamish's gaze, she frowned slightly then moved her eyes away quickly. "I'm going to the bathroom."
After moving her eyes away, she glanced at Eduard and passed over her glass of juice to him. She then turned and headed to the bathroom.
There weren't a lot of people in the bathroom at this time, and it was very quiet. Isobel went in and washed her face, looking at herself in the mirror. There was a lot of transitioning work these days, and she hasn't slept well for several days. Her face looked very pale and haggard in the mirror. She took out an air cushion from her purse and wanted to fix her makeup, but as soon as she opened it, Isobel immediately closed it. Why bother? Regardless of whether she looked haggard or whether she shone, that man wouldn't care, so why bother to please him like this!
She put the air cushion back into her purse, took a paper towel and wiped her hands, then left the bathroom.
When she went downstairs, Martha and Hamish were on the stage, and Martha was opening a gift from Hamish.
The gift was opened. It was a customized necklace.
She suddenly remembered the "Mermaid's Tears" she threw away not too long ago. Isobel looked at the people on the stage, wondering what the past three years was for. Wishful thinking? Or was she just being pathetic?
Hamish, who was on the stage, suddenly looked over with very cold, dark eyes.
Isobel only felt that her heart was hit by something hard, and the pain made her unable to move.
The people around her began to cheer. She stood there while her hands and feet were cold.
"Isobel?"
Hearing Eduard's voice, she turned and looked at him blankly. "Eduard." Eduard looked at Isobel, who stood in front of him. Her apricot-shaped eyes flashed with loss and confusion, which hurt him to see. Worried about her condition, he pulled her to leave. "Let's go."
At this time, Martha suddenly called out to them with a microphone on the stage. "Hey, Ms. Lewis and Mr. George, are you in a hurry to leave? How about staying for the cake?" Hearing what Martha said, Isobel recovered.
She looked up and met Martha's provocative gaze. She curled her lips and smiled lightly, "Of course I'll be having Ms. Sutton's cake."
Martha raised an eyebrow. "In this case, I'll cut the cake quickly, so as not to delay your affairs with Mr. George!"
She was hinting something with her words. After speaking, she smiled meaningfully.
As soon as Martha's spoke, the people around her began to look down at Isobel and Eduard and gossip.
Eduard frowned and looked at Isobel worriedly.
Isobel turned and glanced at him. "There is something else I intended to do when I came here today." Eduard was a little puzzled. "What is it?" "An eye for an eye."
When she said this, she looked coldly at Martha, who was cutting the cake on the stage. Isobel said every word with gritted teeth. Eduard was a little surprised. Just as he was about to ask what she planned on doing, Martha called out to Isobel from the stage. Isobel smiled at Eduard. "You can watch a good show." After speaking, she walked onto the stage step by step on her high heels.
