Chapter 66

Seeing that the atmosphere seemed odd, Zachary turned to Spencer and said, “I heard that Luce’s company got into trouble a few days ago. How is it doing now?”

Spencer glanced at him and said calmly, “Yeah, she did great. She handled it all by herself.”

The corner of Zachary’s lips twitched. Why did he feel like Spencer was showing off? Zachary raised his eyebrows and asked, “Why do I feel like you’re proud of her?”

“I am!”

The others had never seen Spencer act like this. It seemed like he was head over heels for Lucille.

Suddenly, the door creaked open. Three ladies stood at the doorway. Everyone knew Lucille and Eunice, but Ethan thought the third one looked familiar.

When Bailey saw all the big shots present, she gulped in fear. Her right arm was wrapped around Lucille’s and her left arm around Eunice’s. It was as if sticking close to them comforted her.

She suddenly felt two cold gazes on her. Her arms ached when she felt like someone was about to break them.

Lucas pushed his glasses up and stared at Bailey.

“U–Uncle lan,” Bailey called out to lan

Ethan immediately recognized her. No wonder he’d thought that she looked familiar. It turned out that she was the Moore family’s heiress.

When lan had shown them a picture of Bailey back then, they’d thought her eyes resembled lan’s. Now that they were seeing her in person, the

two really did look alike.

lan looked at Bailey and asked, “Why are you here?” Even though his tone was cold, anyone close to him could tell that he was actually concerned.

“I came here with Lucy. I’m her best friend,” Bailey answered truthfully.

lan was surprised that Bailey knew Lucille. His eyes landed on Lucille.

Lucille met his gaze and said clearly and respectfully, “That’s right.”

She could tell that lan was much more terrifying and cunning than Spencer. Eunice couldn’t possibly beat him.

After saying that, Lucille walked to the empty seat beside Spencer. Bailey followed her and sat next to her, which was also next to Lucas.

On the other hand, Eunice took the empty seat next to Ethan because the seat next to lan was occupied. She didn’t want to make Zachary give his seat up to her either.

lan glared at her, but she didn’t move. She hadn’t looked at him since

she’d entered the room.

Ethan felt like he was in the worst spot. He felt like changing his seat.

Even though there was another empty seat next to Lucas, Eunice had chosen to sit next to him. She was basically dooming him to lan’s wrath.

Ethan kicked Zachary under the table. Zachary frowned and shot him a look that made it seem like he was making fun of Ethan.

Eunice was blissfully unaware of everything going on in their minds.

It had been barely a minute after she’d sat down when Zachary stood up and said, “Eunice, why don’t you sit next to lan? I had something to discuss with him just now, so I temporarily took your seat.”

Eunice didn’t look up or answer him. She didn’t stand up, either.

Her fists were tightly clenched under the table. She looked like she was struggling and thinking. All eyes were on her.

Eunice looked up at Zachary and smiled. “There’s no need for that. You can sit back down. I’m a little dirty right now, and lan’s a germaphobe, so I’m fine with sitting here.”

Everyone was stunned. How was she dirty? She was making up an excuse not to sit next to lan.

Zachary, Ethan, and the others hadn’t expected Eunice to say something so weird. The temperature in the room seemed to drop. The air was filled with tension.

Zachary didn’t know if he should sit back down. He looked at Ethan resentfully.

Ethan was inconsolable. He wondered what have given Eunice the guts to say something so daring.
