Chapter 17

44e left the room and ran into Mack. He insediately latched onto Mack and said, ” Boss just told me to buy a bunch of ingredients and deliver them to Orchidstone Garden. Do you think he’s going to cook for Mrs. Layton?”

Mack was taken aback. “I guess?”

Kent lamented, “Boss has never cooked for anyone, not even the Laytons. Mrs. Layton’s only been around for a few days! Think about that!”

Who would’ve expected the CEO of JM Corporation and the current head of the Layton family to know how to cook? He frequently cooked for himself, too.

As far as Kent and Mack could remember, he’d never cooked for anyone other than himself, though.

Kent arrived at Orchidstone Garden at 6:30 pm. He dropped the ingredients off before leaving. About half an hour later, Lucille heard the doorbell ring again.

She opened the door to see Spencer standing outside. He wore a black suit as usual, paired with a silver–gray tie. He looked like a debonair gentleman, and he exuded maturity.

He was flawless in all aspects–his face looked good from all angles, and his figure was the best she’d ever seen. He was rich, powerful, and a good cook.

“Don’t

you

know the password?” Lucille asked. She stepped aside to let him in.

Spencer entered the apartment. He took his suit jacket off and hung it on the coat rack before saying, “I was afraid it wouldn’t be convenient for you.”

She stared at his broad back. He was showing her what a gentleman he was at all times. His words warmed her.

He said, “I had Kent buy a pair of lounge slippers, too. Where did you put them?”

She blinked. She didn’t remember touching any of the things Kent had brought over. Hold on. I’ll go get them.”

She ran to the living room and back to the foyer. She ripped the packaging open and

Spencer headed to the kitchen and got to work while Lucille lounged in the living room and watched him. Just from watching his back, she could tell he was handsome and regal.

But as he bustied around in the kitchen, there was a sort of liveliness to him that was completely different from the distance and power he’d exuded when they’d met at Zaytun Pavilion

Lucille never would’ve expected someone like him to cook for her in her home. She’d even become his wife. Someone had barged into her peaceful yet boring life in a matter of days.

She stood up and headed to the kitchen.
