Warlords MC – The Complete Series

Warlords MC: Book 5 – Joker : Chapter 15

Austin waited at the location he was instructed to come to. A bar of all things. That greedy biker had called him at 3 am and told him to meet him. Now here he was at 9 am in a dive bar.

He’d called Stafford right after Grinder’s call. The man ranted and raved about how he could get kidnapped for ransom. And how did this Grinder know he was even alive for Christ’s sakes.

Still, the man had information that Austin wanted. Information on Jared. This man might even have Jared. Yes, Austin knew about his mansion being destroyed and they were still looking for Jared in the rubble.

Finally, a man fitting the description Shay had given him, came strolling in. By himself too. This surprised Austin, but who cared? If this man could help him get Jared into jail, then so be it.

Grinder sat down across from him.

Austin met his sleazy gaze.

Grinder looked him up and down. “Yeah, you don’t looked a bit like Jared. I shoulda known.”

Austin shrugged “Look. I don’t care what you think or what you feel. I just want information on Jared.”

Grinder glared at him as he sat back. “Well, damn. You may not look like him but you are just as god dammed arrogant.”

Austin shrugged. “I’m a business man. Made a fortune from being arrogant as you call it. So, I got 10,000 dollars for any info that will lead me to Jared.”

Grindr raised a brow at him. “So, kinda like a reward for the arrest of?”

“Whatever you wanna call it.” Austin kept glaring.

Grinder leaned forward. “What if I could give you your granddaughter back?”

Austin’s eyes rounded, as he couldn’t hide his surprise. Apparently, the man did not know where Rowen really was. “How much for that?”

Grinder placed his hand up at him and called for a beer.

Austin looked down at his coffee. Beer before noon. Yeah, the man had his priorities straight, all right. He scoffed.

The bartender brought the beer.

Grinder gulped the bottle down in one long slugging.

Austin just stared. What a fucking loser. “So? What do you know about my granddaughter’s disappearance?”

“Well…” Grinder let out a huge belch. “Let’s just say I can procure her for you and bring her home.”

Austin’s hand gripped his coffee mug tighter and tighter. Suddenly, it cracked.

Grinder stared down at the broken mug. “Damn old man, maybe you should switch to decaf?”

Austin tried so hard to keep his cool. This was the man that had branded his Rowen. The man that had beaten and starved her. If he could just keep his shit together… “So, how much?”

“3 million,” Grinder replied.

Austin did not even blink at the number. “So, you believe my granddaughter is only worth three million dollars?”

Grinder paused and looked confused. “What? You wanna pay more?” He laughed at his own supposed joke.

Austin did not join in. Instead, he wiped his cut finger with a napkin without looking at the slime across from him. “I’ll pay it.”

Grinder gasped. “Just like that?”

Austin slowly looked up at him. “Within the hour.”

Grinder looked stunned.

“But on one condition,” Austin added. Knowing this was the ball game, this would make it or break it.

“Yeah? What’s that?” Grinder studied him.

“How did you get your hands on her? Answer this and I will pay.”

Grinder stared at him for a full minute. “Why?”

“Who gives a fuck why?” Austin snapped. “I need to make sure she is never taken again, don’t I?”

Grinder studied him. “We were given the codes by Jared. We went in and took her.”

“From my house?” Austin gritted out.

“Yeah, man. Where else?” Grinder rolled his eyes.

“So when can you return her to me?” Austin went on without blinking.

“In a couple of hours,” Grinder replied, as he did not meet his gaze.

“You sure about that?” Austin asked.

“Yeah, I’m fucking sure!” he grumbled.

Austin leaned forward and stared into his eyes. “You kidnap, brand, beat, and abused my granddaughter…”

Grinder’s smug look dropped away. “H-how did you know about—”

Austin went on as if he’d never spoken, “…then now, you ask for ransom… when all you should get is a bullet to your barely there brain, you fucker!” Austin then reached to his jacket and tore it open.

Alarmed at his movements, Grinder raised his gun at him.

“Shoot me and you will get bullets to your balls,” Austin growled as he loudly cocked the gun under the table that he held.

Then Grinder looked down at the old man’s chest. “You’re wired?”

Austin actually smiled for the first time this day. “To blow, you dumbass. Kidnapping is a life sentence.”

Shay and the brothers all watched on the laptop as the FBI came in and disarmed Grinder, then cuffed him.

“You set me up, you old fucker!” Grinder swore and cursed Austin all the way out the door.

Austin did nothing but laugh, then he looked at the camera right above their booth and patted the wiring on his chest. “Bet you wanna hire me for undercover work, right Montross?”

Shay tapped the screen off on the laptop and looked around at the boys. “So, after this, forget your smart ass road names for me. I earn my name.”

They all looked surprised but happy at the outcome.

“So, are you gonna tell us that name now?” Joker asked him.

Shay just shook his head then opened his mouth to speak.

“Breakfast!” Charli called.

Joker laughed. “Rowen’s grandpa is a bad ass!” He couldn’t wait to tell her about Grinder.

King snorted. “Yeah, you would know since he clocked you.”

“Yeah, he has a mean right hook, I gotta admit.” Joker chuckled as he played his jaw back and forth with his hand. He headed to his bedroom. When he was almost to the door, he paused.

Just then, alarms went off all over the house. They had the place wired everywhere for security.

The hair on the back of his neck stood straight up. He lifted his gun out from his waistband and neared the door. Slowly opening it, he peeked in.

The bedcovers were all over the floor and he spanned his gaze around as his gut clenched.

A scream rent the air.

He jumped at the scream and looked up at the window, the glass was broken out, and he rushed over. Leaning out, he could see Rowen struggling with a man, by the tree stand. If he got her through there, it would be hell to get her back.

Hopping up and out of the window, Joker headed their way. He hoped that Jared wouldn’t see him in time.

“Stop it, Jared!” Rowen yelled as she yanked herself out of his grip. “I am not going with you!”

“You have cost me millions, you little bitch. I am going to cash you in!” Jared grabbed her up and raised the gun in his hand.

Joker never had a thought, Jared wanted to put that weapon at her temple… he raised his gun and fired.

Rowen screamed as blood splattered all over her.

Jared dropped the gun and toppled back, taking her with him.

Joker ran over.

Rowen was screaming, as all she knew was the blood and Jared’s death grip on her.

Joker reached down and plucked her up from his still body.

She was struggling with him, as she seemed to be out of her mind. “Let me go!”

Joker knew she was in shock. “Rowen! It’s me!” He held her tightly to him, bloody brains over her t-shirt and all.

“OH!” she shouted. “H-he…” She sobbed.

Joker moved her away from the body of her uncle as fast as he could.

Yes, he had blown the top of his head off. And he did not regret it.
