  • They have fated mates.

  • Royals traditionally only have one child.

  • It takes twenty-five years for their magic to fully manifest.

  • They cannot leave their kingdoms until their magic fully manifests at twenty-five years of age.

  • Royal fae heirs take over the throne at twenty-five years of age.

  • They receive a familiar and familiar mark on their fifteenth birthday

MATES

  • Only royal fae have fated mates (their mate can be a non-royal fae).

  • On a royal fae’s thirteenth birthday, the name of their fated mate is whispered into their minds by the gods.

  • Fated mates can feel each other’s stronger emotions.

  • A mate bond can be broken if one of the mates marries another person before the two fated mates marry.

  • A mate bond does not make them love each other.

  • Mate bonds are the strongest form of pure magic from the gods and were created to ensure the strongest royal fae heirs.

FAMILIARS

  • An animal bonded to a royal fae on their fifteenth birthday.

  • The “bonded” (royal fae) can see and hear through their familiar.

  • The bonded receives a tattoo of their familiar on their upper left chest at midnight on their fifteenth birthday, and their familiar finds them within a few days.

  • Familiars and their bonded can communicate telepathically.

  • Familiars live to be as long as their bonded.

KINGDOMS

  • Mountain Kingdom (fae—cold, snowy, mountainous)

  • Desert Kingdom (fae—desert land with mountains and plateaus, hot days with cold nights)

  • Tropical Kingdom (fae—thick canopy of tropical trees, humid, mild temperatures, borders the ocean)

  • Garden Kingdom (fae—lush flowery greenery with comfortably mild temperatures all year)

  • Human Kingdom (human—surrounded by the four fae kingdoms. Made up of all four habitats, depending on which fae kingdom the human regions border).

Note: Fae kingdoms possess magic that the Human Kingdom does not. Their vegetation, animals, bodies of water, etc. are different and can be dangerous to humans.

THE BARRIER

  • A magical wall that protects the humans from the dangerous fae lands

  • Fae can pass through the barrier freely, but humans require a fae escort in order for the magic to allow them through.

  • The five kingdoms agreed to erect a wall along the barrier with only one gate to each fae kingdom.

  • Any fae or human who passes through the barrier must have a legal permit to do so.
