Veiled Infant of Alpha Hunter

Chapter 26 Serpentine of Eden

Recap:

I looked over at my prideful wife and mate as she lowly growled at me.

‘Answer me now!’ She snarled.

‘It’s because you’re the most difficult being I’ve ever encountered. Sometimes I wonder why did the fate even pair us up. It’s because I’m patient we have been able to keep the relationship up. Now stop being selfish, we have your little sister to save.’ I snarled back before continuing to run behind the pack.

Adamone Levi P.O.V

I watched as she fell asleep.

Her chest was heaving up and down breathing, whilst her face was in complete peace.

I, on the other hand, I could not sleep.

Funny how a goofy character as myself once could turn out to be this stern in less than a year.

I left her side as I started mixing up all the elements for her cure.

Will they really work?

I don’t understand how her body hasn’t changed, but her brain has to cause her temporary amnesia.

This has me wondering if any delay would probably cause her body to age within any moment or her organs to start deteriorating.

From what I could conclude from her previous circumstance and the one that occurred recently, her drastic variation in emotions to a stressful atmosphere resulted in the changes.

Therefore, I need to make sure her emotions are steady and there should not be any surprising or shocking element be executed that might trigger it.

Have you still not understood the riddle?

I heard a familiar voice say from somewhere around me.

I looked over to see the same man from the day I arrived.

“I have no time for riddles.” I answered, continuing to carefully blend the ingredients together.

Within a flash, he was right in front of me.

“That is not enough to save your mate.” Merlin says.

“No, this is her cure.” I assured.

“It’s missing one more element.” He scoffed.

“I know.” I said.

“It needs an alpha’s newborn blood to speed up her healing.” I continued.

“Where do you expect me to find one?” I huffed frustrated.

Merlin chuckled.

“There are more powerful things in this universe than mere vegetables. Things without explanation.” He says.

I tossed the mixture to the side exasperatingly.

“What should I do then?” I asked throwing my hands in the air.

He speaks as he knows all, yet he fails to provide me with a straight answer.

“The Garden of Eden indeed holds magical properties. You demand her healing. If you can show the garden a reason powerful enough to satisfy your wish, your request will unquestionably be granted.” Merlin says.

“What does that mean?” I was on my knees as I grunted pulling on my hair in frustration facing the ground.

I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

“Why do you wish to save her?” Merlin hints.

By the time I looked up, he was out of sight.

The question circled in my head.

Why do I wish to save her?

It was a pretty simple answer. “She doesn’t deserve to die”.

Not enough.

The voices in the garden whisper as I stood up and looked around.

“I can’t live without her.”

One try left.

I started hyperventilating, I didn’t know what was any other reason.

Suddenly her body was laying right in front of me but when I tried to touch her, I couldn’t. My fingers could only go through her figure.

“What’s happening!?” I shrieked.

The Garden gives.

The Garden also takes.

Whispers surrounded me as I felt as though everything was spinning around me.

When wishes are asked.

Prices must be paid.

“What price?” I questioned a loud.

Price of a soul.

I saw her body lay over me once more as her eyes were closed. I kneeled down as I was finally able to touch her skin as it was bitter cold.

“Take mine!” I shouted.

Why should we?

Why?

What reason?

The whispers around me kept growing.

A snake neared towards her body before it transformed into a woman, her skin was scaly while her eyes were exactly the ones of a snake. Her hair was ebony black as it flowed past her waist.

“Who are you?” I questioned.

Instead of answering me.

The women kneeled down slightly and extended her hand towards Evelyn’s frame.

I could see Evelyn’s soul leaving her body as she took the hand of the serpent woman.

“No!” I bellowed once more.

What was happening?

“You can’t do this!” For the first time, I could feel as though my heart was breaking. Tears were already welling up in my eyes at the horrid scene in front of me.

The snake alike woman saw me and hissed as even her tongue was similar to the ones of a serpent.

“Evelyn.” I tried calling her name but she couldn’t see nor hear me.

I could feel our mate connection flouting. All the memories of our future flashed in my head as it all faded away because of the change in current circumstances.

My wolf howled in agony.

“Please.” I begged, not caring that tears were streaming down my face.

I didn’t care if I looked masculine or not, or that I was crying over a girl. My breathing was rapid and at the moment, I was willing to do anything to end this.

I picked up her cold right hand and kept in between both of my own. I could see Evelyn’s soul looking over her hand feeling a tad bit confused.

“Please.” I brought her hand up to my forehead, closing my eyes.

“I love her. I can’t live without her. If you’re going to take her. Take me too.” I pleaded while closing my eyes tightly.
