Chapter 47
*KARA*
"I don't get it... You have to be clear Jeremy, you are scaring me!" the look he was giving me was quite frightening.
"What's there to be clear about vamp girl, I already told you, you can't leave the town and you can't use your powers"
"No! You have to help me then, please take me out, I need to leave this place. Or else that guy would kill me!"
"And what did you do to him to warrant such punishment?" the way he sounded didn't seem like he cared what my business with that guy is.
"It's nothing" that was all I could say right now. Even though he just saved my life, I didn't know and trust him enough to tell him my story. I don't know what team he's on. He might just drag me to the Vampire prince if I do.
"Well, I can't tell you how to leave then. I can only trust you when you trust me too," he said while he played with his nails. How can he act so bored and nonchalant about a situation that might end the whole world? If only he knew.
"I also don't know what he wants." I chose this answer cuz in some way, I don't know why the man is after my life. Since I found out by eavesdropping.
"Well girl, good night. You don't seem to be ready" he said as he hopped off his stool.
"My name is Kara, and I'm wanted by their vampire Prince" I started I still didn't feel like telling him, but I guessed if I were in his shoes I'll also ask for an explanation as he did.
He moved back to where he was sitting a while ago. His green eyes glued to me.
"And?" He asked when he felt as though I wasn't going to continue the story. And the truth is I didn't have the intention. But then, it's the only way I will be told how to leave this place.
"He wants a stone from me, it'll help him take over the world," I said, not specifying whether the stone is with me or not.
"Yeah, like he doesn't already control the world right now, Kara" his tone was bitter and angry, I didn't blame him, who knows the kind of troubles they are going through because of the Prince?
"I've said my part, now it's your turn. How do I get out of here" I said, trying my best to maintain a straight face. But it was almost impossible as I was weary from all the earlier activities.
"Your answer isn't that clear. You need to explain some things."
Why is he keen on me knowing everything? It makes his intention seem suspicious.
"Sometimes we are in conditions that even we can't understand, let alone explain"
He didn't say anything, but he still had that unsatisfied look. He raked his hair with his hands, dragging the ones that were covering his left eye and ear backward. I could see his full face now and for a moment, just one moment, my eyes caught something unusual in his features, but I didn't have time to decipher what it was before he quickly covered it with his hair once again.
I was going to ask what that was about, but I had better things to think of.
"Now how do I leave this place? Please it's really important I do, a lot of things are depending on me. I beg you."
"Kara, the thing is, there's no way out" he paused, I tried my best not to interrupt but I couldn't.
"But you promised you'll tell me! You can't just go back on your word."
"I'm sorry, but the thing is, once you are in this town, you can't leave. It's the same with all of us here. No one can use their powers, No one leaves and no one comes in."
"But I came in"
"No, you were brought in by Eldred. That was a different case."
"What are you?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean Jeremy. What are you?" I asked intently looking at him. There's no way he's going to act ignorant about something I can literally swear is true. There's a vibe they have, not the vampire type of course. And whatever creatures they are, they definitely have a grudge against vampires, no doubt.
Kind of reminds me of the werewolf encounter in the forest. Or is that what they are? Werewolves?
"You are werewolves aren't you? That's why you hate vampires that much right?"
"What shit are you saying? We aren't werewolves, that's just pathetic."
"Then what?"
At the same moment he raised the hair that was covering his ears, he whispered "Elves"
Wtf? Elves? I've heard of vampires witches and werewolves, but nothing about elves. Aren't they meant to be at the north pole, helping Santa or something…
"Elves are real?"
"It's no surprise you don't know. Our kind has been kept hidden and imprisoned for a long time now. It's been so long that others even forget that we exist"
"What do you mean by imprisoned?" everything he's saying is making me even more confused, rather than making me understand.
His reaction to my latest question definitely made me more curious.
He had that wide eyed look while he used his hand to close his mouth as of he had spoken too much.
"You should go to bed, I'm sure you had a long day"
"Tell me more about elves," that was all I could request right now. If I ask more about his weird behavior, I'm sure he will get mad.
"Their powers and stuff like that" I stuttered, I didn't want him to misunderstand my question. He might think I was still inquiring about the imprisonment stuff that he clearly didn't want to share.
"Okay, so you don't feel sleepy?"
"No, I don't."
"There's nothing special about Elves, just like other creatures, we have our powers and looks. But unlike vampires and werewolves who spend their whole life killing humans and fighting for territories, we prefer staying on our own and doing good. Helping nature and humans"
"But I thought elves work for Santa?" I asked the really dumb question, but you can't really blame me, if all these creatures exist, I'm sure Santa does too.
"Santa? Ugggh God, what type of vampire are you, Vamp girl? One that believes in myths?" he was practically laughing at me. At what I said, wow, I never thought I'll see this dude laughing, not at anything.
"Well, you don't have to act so surprised okay? This whole existence of vampires and other creatures are new to me! And correction, I'm a half vamp! And I just recently found that out too!" I was stupidly yelling my identity to this guy.
"Shit, sorry, I didn't know you have such a rough life, thinking you are a human when you're not must be really painful." I heard what he said, but didn't feel like saying anything. I just kept my head down and thought about what he just said. Thinking I'm human when that's not what I am is really painful.
"I should go," I murmured, loud enough for him to hear.
"But I haven't answered your question yet."
"About the elves?"
"Well, yeah, I haven't completed it. don't you want to hear the abilities and power part?"
"I guess I do"
"As I said, nothing special, we have the power to control nature, we make plants grow fast, we have telekinesis, and the ability to manipulate the dead, we can control darkness and light, etcetera"
"Wow! Does that mean you can help me leave this place!" if they have all that powers, I'm sure they can help me out.
"I already told you, no one can leave here and no one can use magic here"
"But why" I had to ask, because from what I heard right now, they must be really strong"
"He won't let it!"
"Who?"
