Chapter 27
"No one will be touching Kendra," Nick said, and the man stopped in disappointmet, and I let out a sigh of relief.
"Well, not until you find her sister," he added with an evil smirk.
My heart sank.
"But we all know she won't be coming," The creepy one said.
"Yes, and that's why you're all going to go hunt her. I want her and those three brats who chose to disobey me." Nick said. They all bowed and then left.
"Can we head back to your office now?" I asked.
"Why? So you can flirt with your guard?" he asked coldly. So he noticed, but that wasn't what was on my mind right now. I had bigger issues at hand. All my hope was resting on the fact that Kara would trade that dumb stone for me, but obviously, she made her choice, and now I have to make mine. I have to find a way out of here without waiting for a miracle like Kara or Zaid.
"Stop thinking about leaving this place, Kendra; it's not going to happen. You are going to stay here whether your sister gives you the stone or not," Nick said, destroying my thoughts of escaping. once again, making me give up hope. If there's anything I hate most about vampires, it's the fact that they can read minds.
"But why, what do you want me here for? I'm useless, remember?" I asked, hurt, hoping he'd see that my sister won't save me and that I'm nothing more than a burden in a cage.
"Yes, I am aware of that, but I enjoy having a pet, Miss Kendra," he said, going through his laptop.
"Well, if you really want a pet, why don't you get a freeking dog? you jerk!" I grumbled, keeping me here was a burden. He doesn't even like me to start with, and I don't like him either. Who keeps a pet that they don't like? Fuck.
"Can you at least charge my phone? The boredom is killing me."
"No!" he was not paying much attention to me.
"Why?"
"Why do you have to treat me this way? It's not like I'm going to call for help or something. I just want to see what's going on in the normal world. Scroll through Instagram, and maybe I'll have my sanity back." I pleaded, he didn't even look at me. I kept waiting for him to say something, but he doesn't, he just keeps working on his laptop.
I was about to grab his collar from where I was, but was interrupted by the sound of the door opening.
"Your majesty," the slightly familiar voice echoed.
"I hope I'm not disturbing your peace." Wait, I freaking recognize that voice. I can recognize that voice anytime, anywhere. That voice used to have that pathetic niceness attached to it, but now all I can hear is boldness. The voice makes me angry whenever I hear it. the f**king scumbag traitor CHLOE.
"You see, your majesty, I would like to speak to you about my promotion," she said in that same old, icky voice.
"Excuse me, what promotion?" Prince Nicholas asked, still staring at his laptop.
"Your highness, it's me, Chloe," she said, with a little hint of disappointment.
"Excuse me?" Nick said, not in a rude way but in a tone that shows he doesn't know what she's talking about and also doesn't care.
"I captured one of Amber's daughters, with Zaid and Blake," she said, this time not hiding the fact that she didn't like the idea of Nick not remembering her.
Nick, on the other hand, didn't say anything to her introduction he just kept doing his thing, totally ignoring her.
"Prince Nicholas, " she started, but stopped immediately. I don't think it was because she had nothing to say, rather, it was the way Nick glared at her in an intimidating way, as if she had done something wrong.
"Your majesty," she quickly corrected. That's when I realized that no one has ever called him Nicholas, except me, in fact, no one has ever called him by any of his names; they all just go for "Your highness" Oh, Chloe must be in a huge mess right now, considering the death glare which he was shooting her.
I'm sure she came all the way here to make a move on him, but she ended up dooming herself.
Instead of ripping her body, Nick just ignored her, burying his head fully in the laptop.
"I just want to inform you that I captured her because it's my duty, not for a promotion of any sort,"
I can't believe she's playing the loyalty card.
"Miss, you should meet with the colonel and discuss whatever it is that's on your mind," The Prince said, barely looking her way.
"You are excused," He added this time, raising his head a little.
Chloe however, didn't seem to get the message she looked determined, and the way things are, I'm sure she got to the prince with a lot of difficulty, no one would let her just walk into the prince's meeting hall without an appointment.
"Your Highness, peharps, you don't understand," she said as she started walking in a stupid yet seductive way.
The clothes she had on were just as seductive. She walked closer to him slowly, biting her lower lips and raising her dramatically short skirt. Nobody had to tell me she was attempting to seduce the prince, and believe me, if I were the prince, it would work like a charm. I don't think anyone can resist Chloe, not even Mr. Arrogant over here. She's pretty and also has this thing about her that makes her look hot.
She slowly made her way to where he was seated, placing her hands on his chest.
Nicholas looked at her with a blank face, void of emotions. I really want to know what is going on in his head, but his face wasn't giving any clues. I can't tell if he likes what he's seeing, feels disgusted, or doesn't care. It's impossible to tell what Nick is thinking.
She started unbuttoning his shirt slowly while looking at his still-blank face. I could see the look of victory painted all over her face. It just makes me feel sick.
Then there was a loud "bam!"
Yhup, that was the sound of Chloe hitting the wall on the other side of the room.
What the f**k just happened? I don't know. What I do know is that Chloe went flying across the room and is right now on the floor in a disfigured manner. And Nick didn't even lay a finger on her how on earth did he get her in that position without touching her or even looking at her? What kind of sorcery is that?
Chloe didn't seem to give up, because she stood up, ignoring the fact that she was dramatically rejected, and walked right up to Nick, then said,
"Your Highness, we can make this work out in some other way. I'm sorry if you didn't like my approach. But I think you are not getting the message."
She looked so desperate at the moment that it was making me feel nauseous.
"I think the only one who isn't getting the message here is you! Nick's literally telling you—you are not his type!" I said from my cage, making Chloe, who hadn't noticed me this whole time, stare at me with a killer look.
But I didn't flinch, I was aware she wouldn't be able to hurt me since I'm the prince's little pet.
"Nick?" was the only thing she said. Obviously surprised that I have given their Almighty Prince, who almost killed her for calling him Nicholas, a nickname, But hey, I don't blame her, even I am surprised that I have given him a nick name.
"Leave now or leave dead," Nick growled like a beast. This sent shivers down my spine even though I knew he wasn't talking to me. Chloe leaped hurriedly to the door and opened it, then she faced me and snarled before disappearing.
"Now that was entertaining," I said, as I relaxed on my bed. Nick raised a brow at me in a questioning way.
"Well, it's not every day I get to see a seduction drama," I said, trying to prove my point. And it is true, not every day.
.
The moon is shining brightly, and the sky is lit with stars. I gazed through the window and enjoyed the amazing view.
"Let's go," Nick said, and for a moment I wondered why he would inform me before leaving a place. It's not like I had any choice, my cage would follow him no matter what.
We went out of the castle and started strolling. And for the first time, we were actually leaving the walls. The castle is so large that even when Nick needs to feed, he doesn't leave the walls because there are so many wild animals to feed from inside. But today, we were leaving the walls. Seeing the outside world might lighten up my mood, even though there's nothing to actually see here but a thick, dark forest. But it was still better than staying in the castle.
Nick didn't say a word, he just walked in silence, and I, or rather, my cage, followed suit. He started moving in a slow, unusual way, and it got me wondering what was wrong.
"Nick?" I called out, but he shushed me.
That was when I saw what he was trying to do. He was trying to feed there was a deer right there in the bushes, and he was trying to catch it. I watched him intently, and just when he was about to catch it, I closed my eyes.
The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Nick licking the blood that remained on his lips.
"Next time, don't close your eyes. That was your first lesson," he said sternly.
"What? Are you trying to teach me how to be a vampire? There's no way in hell I'm going to do that. Ever!" I said, staring at him.
"Correction, I'm preparing you. You are a half-vampire who's already coming of age, you will come rushing for blood sooner or later." He replied as he made his way towards the castle, and I followed.
His words are ringing in my head.
