Chapter 21
"Is that why water-powered vampires are more feared?" I inquired. "You are smart, aren't you?" Nathan cut in.
Well, the vampires consider water the most dangerous element, not only because we are not fond of it, but also because water is generally dangerous. It's strong enough to quench the wildest fire.
Now let's go to sleep. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow. " He said, yawning.
"How far are we from the palace?" I asked, totally ignoring the fact that he was trying to go to sleep.
a few steps away from the back entrance. We will get in first thing tomorrow morning. "
But Nathan, how are we supposed to get all the vampires to inhale the potion? Like, how do we get it everywhere at once? I asked, once again disturbing the stressed out Nathan. But hey, I had to ask. I better know the shit I'm getting myself into.
"I'm tired, Kara, but I'm still going to answer that question because it's a smart one." He started lazily.
My brother will come first thing tomorrow morning. He's going to help us with the job of getting the potion everywhere, and he's going to help you save max. "So stop getting worried and go to sleep already," he said, then closed his eyes.
I still couldn't sleep. My thoughts drifted from 'if we are going to succeed, to what will happen after saving them'. We were still going to be hunted by the vampires. Saving Max and Kendra doesn't mean winning.
So, it'll still be unsafe for us. What will we do next? I know our lives won't ever go back to normal. We might spend the rest of it hiding from the evil vampires. uhh..
"Hey! Wake up sleepy heads, we have a mission to accomplish." I heard an unfamiliar voice say hello, waking me up from sleep. I opened my eyes and saw a tall figure standing in front of us.
Wait a minute, this guy looks exactly like Nathan. It must be his brother, the one he mentioned last night.
Yawning loudly, I stood up so I could see him clearly.
"Wow, you guys have already gotten to this level. I'm proud of you bro." "Oh," he said in his thrilling voice. I didn't get what he was saying until I caught him looking mischievously at the shirt I was wearing.
He thinks there's something going on between me and Nathan?
"No, you've got the wrong idea, sir." I said, feeling really awkward. I mean, why would he think that? It's not like he caught us laying together or something. such dirty thoughts.
"Why? Is my brother not good enough for you? "he asked.
"Nooo, that's not it. We are just not what you think we are." I said, trying to convince him.
Where the hell is Nathan? Because I need some help here.
So, is there someone else? "Is someone better?" he asked again.
"No, Nathan and I are just friends, and that's it." I said, feeling really awkward.
"Okay if you say so," he said, sounding the least convinced.
"My name's Joshua, but they call me Josh." he said, stretching his hands out for a shake.
"Kara, Covey." I said, taking his hands.
"Okay, so where's my brother?" he asked, and that got me wondering where Nathan was.
"Chilly guys, I'm over here," Nathan said from behind one of the bushes.
"Here, kara," he said, handing my clothes over to me.
"Thanks, Nathan." I said.
"Cover me!" I said, and he immediately created a wall for me to change.
He and Josh started discussing the plan while I changed.
I finished and gave him his shirt.
"Thanks again for the shirt," I said.
We ate breakfast and then discussed the plan thoroughly. The sun was getting hot, so it was time to start the job.
Okay, I'll leave now. Spraying the potion will take approximately 30 minutes. I'm going to spray it in the air conditioning system. "Kara, you'll wait outside the castle and wait for my signal. Here's the map that'll lead you to where Max is. Hope you can read maps." Josh said.
I shook my head, letting him know that I could read maps. I was ready, and the thought of seeing Max and Kendra again gave me more strength.
Nathan said I would have to come out of the place on my own. The castle is being guarded from intruders, so some powers like teleporting wouldn't work.
"You all should be careful. "Bye, Josh," he said, and left us at the castle's back entrance.
"I hope this goes well," Nathan said nervously. He had been silent all day. Josh did all the talking.
"It will, I know it will." I said, assuring him.
He gave me a warm hug. I like it when Nathan hugs me; it makes me feel safe.
"I have to go now. Be careful. "And remember, wait for Josh's signal." he said, and then walked towards the gate. I saw him enter the place and knock down the guards that were there. Thirty minutes feels like a long time.
I have been waiting for Josh's signal but haven't heard anything from him. What the hell is going on there? What if something has gone wrong and the plan has got ruined?
I couldn't help but have bad feelings about the whole situation.
"Ouch! " I yelled loudly, "Something just hit my head real hard. Oh no, did the plan fail? Have I been discovered?
I looked at the direction of the attack and, to my greatest pleasure, it was Josh. He was in the castle, standing by a balcony. and his dumb signal was hitting my head with a stone. wtf!
But that wasn't the main issue. At the moment, the only thing on my mind was that it was time!
