Chapter 19: Dead Flies
He saw the change in his eyes. He tried to run. Eurus took off, flying high into the air and started to dissipate into the winds. Roman dashed after him and stomped the satyr to death, using it as a springboard to launch himself in the air. He transformed into a bat in midair to catch up to Eurus then back to human as soon as he got close, grabbing onto him and dragging him down. When they hit the ground the whole area shook, almost knocking Caitlyn and the others off balance.
"Help me! Someone Please!" Eurus cried out in desperation while Roman had him in a headlock.
Four of the spirits were still wrapped in vines, though it had stopped strangling them. The others weren't fast enough. Roman cocked Eurus' head to the side and snapped it, causing Eurus to go limp. Roman sank his teeth into his neck, and everyone froze. Roman started moaning and breathing through his nose rapidly. His eyes rolled back into his head and he began to growl.
Oh no. This can't be happening! Roman just killed a god! Willa's mind was in terror. She grabbed Caitlyn and shielded her eyes but she didn't know what else to do. There was no way she could stop this.
The remaining spirits charged forward in anger but Roman kept backing away, dragging his body with him. He kept his fangs deep in Eurus' neck but he was watching every move they made. One satyr pulled out a slingshot and picked up a large rock. Surprised, Roman stopped draining Eurus' blood and watched him silently. The satyr pulled back the sling as far as he could and let it loose, aiming directly for Roman's right eye. The projectile whistled through the air but was snatched out of the air by Roman before it could hit him.
"Really?" said Roman breathlessly, like he'd run a marathon and couldn't breathe. "You... you couldn't wait ten seconds?" Roman tried to laugh but he was gasping for air at the same time.
"CATCH!" he shouted, throwing the rock with all his might. The satyr turned to run but the rock went straight through his back and came out of his chest, stopping his heart immediately. The satyr collapsed and so did Eurus, Roman was finished with him. Roman's whole body began to tremble, and he started sweating profusely, like he was in a sauna.
"Ohhh, oh my, that blood, your blood, it's AMAZING!" He shouted, his voice getting deeper.
"THERE'S NOTHING ELSE LIKE THIS!" Roman wiped his mouth and licked his hand, tasting the ichor that had dripped from Eurus' body. Suddenly, he dropped to the ground, convulsing wildly.
"Kill him, kill him NOW!" shouted a female nature spirit. She fearlessly ran towards Roman with long sharpen sticks that appeared out of nowhere. Roman stopped shaking and led completely still, looking as dead as Eurus and the satyr. Nevertheless, the female spirit charged forward and swung her stakes down with all her might.
"I think you missed me" whispered a voice to her left.
She looked down and realised she had stuck her sticks down into the dirt.Roman had moved too fast for her to notice.
"You aren't godly." he noted as he shoved his flat hand through the left side of her face. He forced his hand through her entire face, knocking out her front rows of teeth and breaking her jaw. He gazed at the green blood covering his hand as her body hit the ground. "Your blood is disgusting."
"LEAVE THEM BE, DEMON!" shouted a voice. Roman had heard it before. As soon as he turned around a bunch of powdery dust was thrown into his eyes and it burned like hell. His nostrils were burning and his eyes felt like they were on fire. Throughout the pain and smoke, he recognized a new face. The Oracle.
"What does that powder do?" Willa asked the Oracle.
"To be honest, not much. He's more than a vampire now. Regular items might not even But it's going to distract him long enough for me to use this." The Oracle held out a long thick wooden stake half the size of someone's arm.
"Wait!" Willa pleaded. "You can't kill him!"
The Oracle looked at her solemnly. "I know."
The remaining nature spirits were working in tandem, throwing random things out Roman to keep him disoriented. The Oracle threw more powder at Roman and waited for the right moment.
"One..." she whispered, making eye contact with each creature. "Two..."
Caitlyn broke free of Willa's grasp and stared at the scene in front of her.
"NOW!" The Oracle shouted. "
A nature spirit and a satyr each reached out and grabbed Roman's arms while the Oracle ran directly at him and forcibly shoved that thick wooden stake through his heart.
Caitlyn screamed at the top of her lungs and her bracelets began to glow again, causing vines to sprout from under the oracles feet. They wrapped her legs and arms tightly in place.
"Caitlyn, No!" Willa shrieked.
The Oracle looked back at both of them with fear in her eyes.
"Get out of here! LEAVE OLYMPUS NOW!"
Roman shook the nature spirit and satyr with ease. Ignoring the stake in his chest, Roman grabbed the Oracle's head and snapped it in one swift motion.
Suddenly, the ground shook and a loud scream tore through everyone's ears, casing them to clutch their heads and howl in pain. As Willa and Caitlyn both dropped to their knees a gigantic ball of fire formed a few feet away from them, making the whole area intensely hot. Willa turned to try to get a glimpse of it but it grew brighter and brighter until it burst and an extremely hot gas blew everyone away.
