Chapter Epilogue.

A/n: It is a terribly long Epilogue, but I wanted to wrap it all up in one. Enjoy!

Jack

I walked out of the bedroom, while looking towards the painting of me as a bear, that Doreen had painted a while ago. Even though she painted beautifully, I still didn’t like the fact that my own eyes were staring down at us, when we were sleeping. Or doing other things…

As I entered the living room, my sister was in an heated argument with Doreen, of which I only had to laugh. But while stifling a laugh, as I saw that Doreen was trying her best to stay serious too, I took my time to look at her. My Queen looked amazing, strong and beautiful. It was as if she was radiating with the power of the sun itself. Even the scar that was hidden underneath her clothes, didn’t make me lower my horniness when we were naked in each other’s presence.

And the fact that I know how strong she actually could get, as she had fought off six Alphas, two months after the war, to show them her power, it urged me to become stronger as well and show her who’s the boss in the room. Well… the bedroom that is, in every other room she was the ruler…

But I didn’t care. She is mine to caress, to love and protect. And I do that effortlessly.

Doreen

“What?” Vic asked me in disbelief, nearly accusing me of being crazy. “Did they remove some of your brain cells, along with the knife as well?” Oh, now she did accuse me of it, I'll keep up this prank a little longer then.

“Yes Vic, as your Queen I command you to listen to your new Alpha.” I said with the most straight face I could muster, while Jack came to sit right next to me.

“No! I won’t have sex with Thor, in front of hundreds of people, just because Maxwell had come up with some sort of mating ritual!” She yelled at me while she had her hands in her hair.

She was walking in circles now, growling every now and then, while murmuring to herself about it. It had all been a joke that Maxwell and I both were in on, and it was too much fun to see Vic squirm like this.

It had been a year later, from all the things that had happened with Dennis and my father, and now I was sitting in a chair in our new pack house. Well, house? It was more like a massive community, as all the Alphas and Lunas had donated enough money and materials to build something so big, that it could house over a thousand people. Thousand!

Yet, even though we were living happily now, ruling the shifters with the new laws that we put in place as soon as it had been possible; several packs had been restored to their former glory; we’ve had discussions with the human authorities, where some sort of agreement was going to be put up next year; and what not more that we’ve had made ourselves busy with, there was still something bugging me.

I know that it had been a year since the war in the forest, at the old pack house’s ruins. But right before I had passed out in the arms of Jack, there had been an awful feeling nagging at the back of my mind. I could’ve sworn to have felt the presence of Dennis, at that time, but Jack had assured me on numerous occasions that he couldn’t have made it out alive.

To try and make me laugh at those depressed moments I had every now and then, he would say that if Dennis was still alive, he could finally take me up on my offer and deal, to finally be able to kill a bad guy and save me in return. I know that he basically didn’t care that neither Dennis nor Damien were killed by him, but I also know that he would have loved the idea of being my saviour. He had been exactly that, right from the start, the moment where I had stepped into the diner. But even though I had said that to him a million times over, I know he wanted to be my hero in a different way. Of course he wouldn’t let me in on that, as his pride wouldn’t let him, but I just knew it was there in the back of his mind.

“Vic, you know that Maxwell has forced me to get naked on his party last year, and I’m a Queen for crying out loud! So, as your Alpha he can make these kind of demands and you just have to obey to that.” I said in a serious tone again, continuing my gloat towards Vic to occupy my mind with something different than Dennis.

“You should stop teasing her. I think she might combust into a raging beast, burning the new handmade carpet that we got from the Persian Alpha.” Jack chuckled through the link. I know he really hated that awful colourful rug that was beneath our feet in the living room, but we couldn’t disrespect such an expensive and attentive gift from Alpha Arman. Although… accidents, like dropping a glass of red wine, happen all the time, right?

“And if you laugh too hard about my sister, you will shake our baby girl.” Jack proudly smiled as he rubbed over my belly.

I don’t think I have seen him smile any wider than he does when he talks about the miracle in my belly. When he had heard of the news that I was pregnant, he ran through the forest and roared for a whole day long that he was about to become a father. At first I was embarrassed, but then I was actually glad he had done it, as he was exhausted at night. At least I could get me some well-deserved rest, while not having a horny bear growling right next to me. Not that I minded the sex we had… not at all… but still, the soft humming of his snores were soothing too.

“How do you know it’s a girl?” I linked him, while we still looked very serious towards Vic. “Just a feeling.” He replied back and shrugged.

A sudden nausea erupted from my stomach and I nearly hauled over, there and then, but Jack was quick to notice and grabbed the bucket next to his seat to hold it in front of me. Luckily I could keep it in for now, but being pregnant wasn’t as peachy as most females had written in books or on the internet. While thinking about peaches… “Give it to me!” I roared and took the bucket from Jack and actually filled it with my stomach contents.

“Vic, seriously, just think it over. I’m sure you don’t want to disappoint your mate.” Jack mustered up a serious comment, while he picked me up to take me back to bed.

“You are awful, you know that?” I said once I was done with unloading the food from Bertha’s diner and I had brushed my teeth. “Who’s accusing? You started it!” He laughed and I smiled back as I couldn’t actually argue to that. “Alright, I’ll link her tomorrow that Maxwell pranked her. Gives me the fun of knowing that she is going to punish him.” Jack chuckled and nuzzled his way over my body.

“Jack.” I moaned.

“Hmm?” He asked as he kept planting kisses all over me.

“We can’t.” I whined.

“Just lay still sweetheart.” He commanded me, while he lifted my dress to put his head underneath as he kissed along the insides of my thighs.

“Seriously?!” He asked incredulously, and I smiled a wicked grin. “Why are you wearing this?” He scolded me while he lifted his head but still kept it under the skirt of my dress.

I was wearing some underwear that supported the weight of my belly as it had been growing in an exponential rate, but where the underwear was comforting me, it was far from being sexy. Of course I knew already that he was going to dislike it, hence the reason I said that we couldn’t continue his horny endeavours, but hey, when did he ever listen to me?

Men…

Thinking of which, I hope my brother is alright.

“Yo no hablo español.” I tried in my best Spanish. Well actually it’s my only Spanish.

I had been postponing the will to travel to Spain, as I wanted to experience what a pack would actually be like, how I was supposed to live my life, to be a part of one big family. I had even asked my sister to lock me up, as I had done plenty of things that couldn’t let me walk freely, but like the justified Queen she is, she hadn’t given in to my wishes.

But as the months had passed by where I tried to fit in to the royal pack, the urge to find my roots was getting worse by the day. I’d figured that there couldn’t be many packs that had lost their Alpha nearly seventeen years ago, by a bullet to the head. But even with the help of one of the Spanish Alphas that had been with us during the war, I hadn’t found it yet.

“No worries dear, I can speak English too.” The elderly woman spoke to me without hesitation. “It’s hard nowadays to only speak Spanish, when a lot of tourists from all across the planet come to visit us here.” She continued and I smiled lightly. “Yet somehow you don’t strike me as some ordinary tourist, young cub.” She guessed, clearly knowing that I’m a shifter bear.

“No, that’s where you are right, I’m searching for more of my kind.” I said to the owner of the kiosk, at which I was buying a map of the local area.

“Why don’t you go and eat something at my daughter’s restaurant first and I’ll come find you in an hour after I close up here. I’ll be happy to help you find what you are looking for.” The woman smiled again and I could actually use some food so figured that it was the most logical plan for now.

I thanked her and she directed me to the restaurant that she mentioned and started to pack her stuff.

But the closer I got to where she had directed me to, the urge to walk faster rose up instinctively. I don’t know what it was, as it wasn’t a feeling of being followed. It was rather that I was the hunter that was running after something that I desperately wanted to have in my possession.

I followed my feet in a hurry, not even following the directions of the old woman anymore. But I didn’t need to, as the restaurant appeared to be around the corner and my mind was dragging me there all on its own!

A sudden smell of sweet peppers and water lilies, how I come to know of that scent is beyond me, quickly invaded my nostrils as soon as I opened the door of the small restaurant. A beautiful girl stood in a dirty apron, serving food to customers while she rode expertly on rollerblades right in between the tables, without knocking over any of the glasses or plates that were on them.

Yet, when her glowing orbs of sunshine yellow locked onto mine, she instantly stopped and dropped the empty plates that were in her hands.

Some Spanish profanities were heard in the distance, but I didn’t linger on whatever was happening around me. She was my world, my only point of focus…

“Mine!”

Giselle

’My dear baby girl,

If you have received this letter, it means that I am no longer alive and that you have found your way into your rightful place.

Words can’t describe how much pain it does to me, to have to ask witches to come up with something to keep you from your birth-right. But please know that I only did this to protect you.

You see, your father may love me, but I will never truly love him in return. I wanted to wait for the appearance of my mate and perhaps then step up to be the Queen I was ought to be, but when I turned twenty-four and still hadn’t found him, I had to make a decision. I knew from old diaries of my grandmother that she had been forced by her mate to step down from being a princess, but that didn’t mean that the bloodline had stopped there.

The power to shift as female has been granted through each generation, even though the females had not even taken upon a shifter-husband. Through history, each daughter had been able to shift, but due to the growth of fear and thus military forces on the human side, they had been hunted down. And even though I wanted to keep the bloodline intact and managed to become pregnant with you, I fear that your father’s connections to the government will eventually make him aware of the existence of shifters, soon.

Especially now that I have actually found my mate.

I only married your father because he was wealthy, of which I could make sure that we could protect you properly. I had hoped to have the time to explain everything to you when you were at the right age, but if this letter has been send, then I’m sorry for my mistakes.

Love, your mother.’

I read the old letter maybe a hundred times already, at which the folds were greased over by my own fingers, but with a quick spell I had made it look like it was just as new and put it in an envelope.

Like I had told Doreen, I hadn’t foreseen me seeing her ever again in the near future, but that didn’t mean I could never contact her again. Speaking to her when she was in danger, or sending this letter to her now, was just a way for me to keep in touch with her, just enough to keep myself secure from prying eyes.

The coven of which I had been a part of, was still very much alive, in contradiction of what I had told Jack and Doreen. I had to lie, because my fellow witches aren’t so kind as most people think we are. My mother had raised me to be caring and different, as she was only part witch, which made her more humane than others. But my ‘sisters’ weren’t brought up that way.

They had fooled Ophelia into paying something that she didn’t agree upon. They had tricked her into believing that she would live long enough to grant herself another baby, the catch however… was that she was doomed to die right after. Her payment had been her soul and the witches had made sure to create a monster to take that soul from her. Damien.

But as always, the good had overruled the bad. That was something that the witches couldn’t fight. It wouldn’t matter how many bad things they cursed, damned or caused, the good side always wins. I smiled at that and was happy to be a part of that ‘good’ even though I couldn’t tell a single person about it.

I sealed the envelope and with a spell I send it off towards her door.

Somewhere in the dark:

“Boss, we are done with preparations.” My Beta said.

“Good, gather the men.” I linked him as I couldn’t open my mouth.

I stood up from the side of the bed and walked over to my closet. For a moment I used my one good eye and took a look at the mirror to remind myself why I was doing this. The scars all over my body, including my face, had made me look horrific. It was as if hot candle wax was dripped over my skeleton and stuck around it without being able to bend properly.

Each and every step I took, hurt me, and even wearing clothes or turning on the lights hurt me as well. It had been a year, since I barely made it out alive of that pack house, right before she threw that bomb inside, but I still wasn’t healed. Numerous surgical interventions had been administered on my flesh, to at least be able to straighten some of my bones and muscles, but I still wasn’t the handsome bear I used to be, before I had made all those mistakes.

I clothed myself, put on some shades to cover my eye, and a scarf to cover my neck and mouth. As I walked out of the bedroom, past the glass laboratory, I noticed that my men were testing out the last version of my purple gas. It had been improved, enhanced and thickened, to make sure that I would succeed my efforts this time. No strong royal genes, or antidote pills would prevent them from losing their beasts now.
