Chapter 47. Solutions
Doreen
“So, what are you guys going to do now.” Maxwell asked us, as we took seats at the lunch table. “Because I might want you two to leave soon, as your endeavours are intimidating my pack members.” He continued, looking at us with the most stoic face he could muster up.
“You are just jealous, Max!” Jack said and I slapped his shoulder for that comment. Even though Jack had been the proudest of all men in this room, from bearing my mark, and even though he wasn’t wearing his shirt just to show it off, I wasn’t feeling comfortable at all.
“Well, maybe. Only because I couldn’t be there to see it. I would’ve loved to see how you took her while she- “MAX!” Maxwell’s mate Misty interrupted him, luckily. “Can’t you see that you are embarrassing the poor girl?!” She exclaimed herself, knowing that I was beet red by this whole display of nudity. Because everyone around us was naked...
They had told us to dress casually, as this was going to be a special lunch, to congratulate us with becoming marked by each other, but I guess when they call for ‘casual Friday’ they didn’t intend to wear sweatpants and loose shirts... no... they just wore nothing! Some were shifted while eating their meat and others just sat in their birthday suits, eating... well not only bread and bacon...
Even Vic had been looking awkward sometimes and I know that she wasn’t anywhere near a prude, but even so, I guess that this sight of a complete orgy, was something different for her as well! Everyone here is so care-free and over the top happy, and it almost seemed like all these lazy, yet somehow energized cats, were under some sort of spell! I even made sure to check that Giselle wasn’t casting some words in a dark corner of this room, but she was nowhere to be found.
“Jack, what are we going to do actually? Eventually we have to come up with a plan, right?” I asked him in a soft voice, while not trying to glance into anyone’s direction.
A lot has happened in the time that we had spent here, as I had been recuperating on different occasions and for different reasons; I had been spending time with Bertha and Giselle, to get me over my nightmares; And Jack had been working also, on something he hadn’t told me yet what it was.
I also wanted to spend more time with Vic, but every time I wanted to see her, she was occupied with something else and avoided my appearance, which I found strange, but I guess that she has some things to deal with too.
“Yes, love. I have managed to get my money secure on a different account and made the bank inform me whenever the other accounts would be used for inappropriate things. So that Dennis can’t take money that is supposed to be for the members of the pack.” He explained.
“What? So you still have all your money?” I asked him, thinking that he had lost everything, due to the loss of his pack.
“Yes sweetheart, you can still be my gold-digging-wife.” He chuckled and I slapped him on the shoulder again.
“That’s not what I meant! What I meant is, that you can use your money to get your pack back!” I said and looked more serious now.
Jack
I have not only been spending my time with Doreen, even though I enjoyed it very much, but instead I have been talking to Maxwell too, to come up with ideas to get me more knowledge about everything that is going on inside my pack.
So, a few days ago, he had sent a few of his people to my pack, to scout what they were doing from afar. But, as they couldn’t infiltrate between my bears, as they are cats, there wasn’t much to inform me.
Maxwell even tried to give Dennis a call, with the excuse of wanting to meet up with me as he hadn’t seen or heard from me in a while. But Dennis had told him that I was on vacation with my mate and that he would make me call Maxwell as soon as I would come home. So, he couldn’t visit my pack now either.
And just as I had told Doreen about the accounts with money that I had left for my pack, Dennis had smartly not transferred any money from those yet, otherwise I would instantly know that he was desperate for it. And I was glad that he hadn’t as I didn’t want my people to be in financial jeopardy, but on the other hand I still didn’t know what Dennis was up to.
But Doreen was thinking otherwise, as she tilted her head sideways again, as she always does when she is in deep thought.
“So, the pack is secure of money, but he doesn’t have any money for himself, even though he has taken up the title of Alpha?” Doreen asked me and I growled first at her mentioning him taking the title, but then nodded my head.
“But how did he get my father to send his hunters towards the pack then?” She suddenly asked.
“I guess that you and I were enough leverage for him.” I simply replied.
“No, that can’t be it. My father never did anything for free up front, I remember him making deals only when it was certain that the other party had their share on the table. And that didn’t matter if it was for grocery shopping, a pizza delivery or business deals, whenever he was on the phone, he never did anything until the items were in his possession, or the money had been transferred to his account.” She said.
It would make perfectly sense to me that a person in a leading position would play it safe, but he could have decided to change his plans now. I mean, this ‘business deal’ was about his only daughter, not about groceries.
“Let’s say, for theoretical purposes, that Dennis has paid your father to attack us, how much would he have asked for, to send his hunters on a suicide mission?” I asked her, curious where her mind would go to.
“I don’t know, I never listened enough or cared enough to know about numbers, but it must be more than Dennis could afford on his own, because my father always liked it when people owe him for something, as they would then be forced to do a task for him when he wants them to.” She said and that made perfectly sense too, for a person that is as sadistic as her father. Smart vixen! “So, if you have taken his ‘Alpha’ money, then…”
“…he is in deep shit.” I finished her sentence and kissed her on the head. So, Dennis either needs my money or he is going to be forced to do something else for the hunter King… “Interesting.” I whispered.
“Yes, indeed interesting, because do you remember that you still owe me something?” Maxwell suddenly said and I nodded. “Why don’t we talk about a deal, in my office.” He continued and I stood up from my cushion, as did Doreen.
“You can stay here if you like.” I said to her and she looked rather uneasy. I chuckled at her blush, from all the sexual activity around her and It made me smile that even though she lets go of all the reins in our bedroom, she is still appalled by the sight here. “Alright, come with me, I might need your intelligent brains anyway.” I said and she released a deep breath in relief.
“So, you are telling me that you want to help me get my pack back, by coming along with your army of cats to fight off Dennis and the hunters, might even lose some of their lives in battle, and that I’m then obliged to throw you a party? I owe you a party? Are you nuts!?” I yelled to Maxwell.
“Yep.” He answered.
“But why?!” I yelled again.
“Because your father would turn around in his grave if he would find out that I would ask anything from you, other than some fun. He has saved my life on numerous occasions and I couldn’t protect him when he needed it the most.” He sadly said. “So, I guess that I owe you more than you do to me.” He continued and I thanked him for his help, while I thought back to the incident that my parents had been in, and how fast it all went.
Maxwell could have never been fast enough to safe my father out of that situation, but even so, he still felt responsible for not being there in time. I never blamed Maxwell for it, but I guess that I can’t afford it to wave away his help either. I would forever be in his debt, when he would come with me to fight.
“Thank you, Alpha Maxwell, but know that when we get to lead our people again, you can always ask for help in return.” Doreen suddenly said and those were the words that I had wanted to say, but with her smile it had been much better.
“I know Luna Doreen. But you don’t get off the hook this easily.” He said to her and I raised my brows. “Because, on my parties, no one gets dressed!” He laughed and Doreen suddenly started to gleam red in shame! “So, now that that’s settled, we need to work out our plan. Jack, I want to deal with this hunter King for once and for all, so we need more packs to join in.” Maxwell continued and I nodded my head.
“I know plenty of people that we could call, but we need some leverage to make them want to listen to me.” Doreen and Maxwell both looked at me with furrowed brows, not understanding what I was referring to.
Shit… I’m not going to hear the end of this. Doreen might be one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet, but she will tear me apart for what I am about to suggest. She will never take back her words, as she knows that we need the help from Maxwell and the other packs, but the payment is going to be severe, on her part!
“Well… Sweetheart, we have to prove to them that you are the Queen of bears, the most high ranked creature as bear-shifters have always been the strongest shifters alive.” Maxwell scoffed for me to say that, but he knew I was right. “And in order for them to believe you, you might have to shift… you know… in front of them.”
A/n: Yeah, just get undressed in front of hundreds of people, to prove something. Would you do it? 💛
