Ursanthropy

Chapter 25. Rage

A/n: Again I forgot to submit a chapter yesterday! Shame on me! Well, you know my how I roll, here are two! Enjoy! 💛

Doreen

After what Jack had said in the kitchen, I hadn’t dared to ask him about my underwear, and how he had known what size to get me.

I did ask however, about the other clothes, but he just shrugged it off with a simple explanation. “You are going to live in my house now, there is no need to stay away from me and for you to stay in the motel. So, those clothes are yours, and you can buy more if you want to.” He said, and it made me blush.

From one moment to the other, I had gone from a broke girl, to a house of a rich guy. And the guy was looking like a god, calls me sweetheart or love, and wants to shower me with gifts! Please pinch me, because I think I’m in heaven.

We talked some more, about how my life has been and also about what kind of man my father is, while we were going to get my things from the motel. Afterwards, we went to the packhouse, whatever that may be, so he can get some work done in his office. He had told me that I could walk around, to meet other people of his pack, or to stay in his office and see what he was doing.

“Well, is there actually some place where I could have my hair done? I mean, ever since I lost my braid...” I whispered ashamed.

Jack looked at me, and widened his eyes. I guess he hadn’t realised yet that I was bothered by it, because now his hands clutched around the steering wheel of his truck, whitening his knuckles from the memory of me being taken.

“Jack, I’m alright. I’m with you now, please calm down.” I said, as I touched his arm.

“Yes I know, but I’m still angry about, them.” He said and sighed. “Doreen, if I ever get face to face with your father, you should know that I can’t let him live. You understand that, right?” He suddenly said.

It never occurred to me, that it was even a possibility that Jack would ever be in that position, but I knew that I never wanted to go back home, and I never would want to follow my father in his footsteps. But killing him? That was something I never thought about. But as I was thinking about it now, I knew that there was no other way to stop what he is doing. My father leads a massive group of hunters, and they should never be allowed to come near any bear, anymore!

So I nodded towards Jack, knowing that I had just condemned my father to death, and agreed with living the rest of my life, without him. I wished my mother had still been alive, as none of this would have occurred then. Me meeting Jack wouldn’t have happened either, but I wouldn’t have known about him because of it.

My mind wandered off to my mother a little, before we reached a massive house, and Jack parked his truck.

I stepped out, and noticed that this house was just as well kept as Jack’s own house. It didn’t look that detailed as the staircase or walls at Jack’s house, but it was still beautiful to look at all the handywork.

“Did you build this house as well?” I asked while looking up to the roof.

Jack chuckled. “No sweetheart, both my house and this one, were built generations ago. All we do is keep a high maintenance, like replacing the roof every five years, paint the whole outer walls every two, and so on.”

“It looks beautiful.” I said.

“Thanks, we are proud to keep it this way. So, I’m glad to hear you like it.” I heard Vic suddenly say and lowered my gaze to where she stood, noticing that she had a big suitcase standing right next to her.

“Are you leaving?” I asked her worried. “No, you wanted your hair done, right?” She said with a confused look towards Jack. “I thought you told her by now!” She yelled to him.

I looked equally confused to him as well, wondering how on earth he could have told Vic about my question. “Don’t you dare lie to me.” I stated, crossing my arms.

I was done being played at, and I wanted to have that question answered now. I know I have seen him communicate with that bear, before I knew it was Dennis, but I needed a straight answer for my assumptions.

“There wasn’t really a moment for that!” He scolded at Vic, but then turned to me. “Everyone within a pack, can communicate with each other, by just thinking of them, and thinking of words to say.” Jack said, after he sighed.

“What? Like telepathically?” I asked them, both.

“Well, not ‘like’, but exactly that.” Vic filled in and my jaw dropped again, as I was stunned by that confirmation.

“So, all this time, you have been talking to each other about me, without me knowing? Do you talk to each other about everything?” I asked. It felt like they have been gossiping about me, while I was with them in the room! It is just so strange!

“Oh, come on Doreen. Don’t get worked up about that, it is normal to us. Let’s get your hair done and we will talk some more.” She said while pulling me towards her, and pushing me inside, while dragging the suitcase of hair supplies with her.

Jack

I just hung up the phone, after finishing my call to the twelfth pack I had been speaking to, and was talking things over with my Beta Dennis.

He sat right across from me, in a wheelchair. Even though it happened very rarely, I had accepted for the doctors to use some of my blood, to regain his health back faster. He has managed to keep Doreen safe from rape after all, so I owed him this.

The wounds on his face and skin were healing rapidly, but he was still bruised all over. And his feet and legs were in casts, which would only require to be on there for a little week or so.

“She’s his daughter!? You can’t be fucking serious!” Dennis yelled to me. “If the rest of the pack finds out, they will want you to banish her! She can’t become our Lu-

“Watch what you are about to say now!” I boomed towards him. “I know you have kept her safe. But I don’t have to explain myself to you, or my pack, for accepting her to be my mate! She is, and will be your Luna, and you will have to respect her accordingly!” I continued and Dennis dropped his shoulders, sighing deeply.

“She has left her father, the moment she found out about his job. She is not a hunter, never been trained to become one, and never wanted to search and kill our kind. She actually hates it that she is his daughter, and wants to right his wrongs.” I continued, calmly.

“And how do you know that she isn’t a spy? That she hasn’t been lying to you?” He pushed even further.

I pinched my nose in irritation. Even though my parents have chosen him to become my Beta, as it is tradition for Alpha parents to decide which person can complement the next Alpha in his duties the best, I’m beginning to think that their decision had been wrong. More and more, he is starting to irritate me, instead of standing by my side.

“Dennis, one last time. She is my mate, if she told me lies about her motives, I would have known it. Doreen is innocent!” I yelled to him.

“But what if-

“OUT! NOW!” I roared to him, while standing up from my chair and shifting my claws, which now had damaged my father’s old desk.

I didn’t care that he was in a wheelchair now, all I cared was for him to be silent, and to keep his Luna safe, as he had done so before! He didn’t know how quick he had to leave my office, as he nearly dropped from his wheelchair and scurried himself, by pushing on the wheels really fast.

I know that it is dangerous to have the hunter’s daughter here, but I’m not going to submit to the fact that there might be a battle or war lurking around the corner. If Damien Deveraux wants to claim his daughter, he has to go through my dead body!

SHE IS MINE!

My mind was in a haze, fury burning inside, as Dennis couldn’t just shut up about her being bad! The fur on my back was nearly jumping out of my skin, until I felt the slightest touch on my shoulder.

“Jack?” I heard the sweet melody of her whisper.

I quickly grabbed her by the waist, let myself drop in the chair, and she followed my actions by straddling herself on top of my lap. My head nuzzled in the crook of her neck, and I took a deep inhale.

The touch of her soft skin, and honey scented smell, invaded my nose and my brain, forcing to lower my blood pressure and anger. I could feel the fur on my body retract, as her presence here calmed me down. My claws retracted as well, making me flinch as I realized I had grabbed her while they were outwards. Quickly I pushed her off my chest, and traced her sides to check if I had hurt her.

“Stop!” She giggled, as apparently my touches had tickled her, and I sighed in relief.

Only then, I managed to look at her face, and was stunned to see what Vic had done to her. Her black hair was now all shiny and curly, accentuating her beautiful light coloured face. But that wasn’t the only thing that she had changed. She was also wearing new earrings, and had put on some make up. I loved her natural look, so I’m glad it wasn’t much. Just some mascara and eyeshadow, enough to make her eyes more appealing.

“Goddess, you are beautiful.” I said to her, as I cupped her face. Her face reddened by my compliment, and I chuckled.

“Damn, woman, you are making it hard for me to wait for you, to take that damn necklace off.” I said while hugging her again.
