Unveiling the True Heiress Chapter 23
Chapter 23 Ignored and Disregarded
James threw a tantrum all night but still couldn’t reclaim his study room.
Not only did his mother favor that country bumpkin, but even his grandmother wouldn’t help him!
As he lay in bed, he grew angrier as he thought about it. He agreed with what Myra had told him and believed that Meredith had returned to seize the family’s assets from him!
She’s already taken Mom away from me and even influenced Grandma! This won’t do. I must teach that country bumpkin a lesson!
James thought of something and a wicked smile formed on the corner of his lips. He jumped out of bed and left his room.
Late at night, Meredith sat before her laptop. She found a new email with a document attached when she opened her inbox.
Nadine Bovell was an eighteen–year–old female student studying at Quantum Academy in junior Class Eleven…
Meredith quickly read through the document and opened her WhatsApp chat.
Crow: Thanks for the information. Also, keep an eye on the market for Black Pearl.”
gy: ‘Black Pearl? Isn’t that a mythical medicinal herb? Why are you suddenly looking for it?”
Piggy: ‘Are you ill? Is that why you need it? Do you have some kind of complicated disease? Should I introduce a doctor to you?”
Crow: ‘Stop talking nonsense. Just look for it.”
While the other person continued to question her curiously, Meredith found him annoying and muted the chat. Then, she scrolled through her contacts and found a profile picture of a black ‘S‘ on a white background.
Crow: ‘Master, was the sample test paper you previously gave me from Quantum Academy?‘
After sending the message, she was about to log out of her WhatsApp account because her master never replied promptly. Moreover, since her master stopped mentoring her two years ago due to health reasons, the replies became even more sporadic. Sometimes, her master would even take three to six months to reply.
However, her master actually replied right before she logged out!
S: ‘Yes.‘
Meredith’s usually cold gaze flickered with a hint of joy.
Crow: ‘Can we meet?”
When Meredith saw the test papers yesterday, she realized that her master had been giving her Quantum’s sample test papers all along. The fact that her master could access Quantum’s test naners indicted

Chapter 23 ignored and Disregarded
Five minutes passed, and her master had yet to reply. Meredith suddenly realized she had been too excited and almost broke the rules.
When S became her mentor on the hacker website, 5 had set three rules. No illegal activities, digging up each other’s information, or meeting in person.
The glimmer of joy in Meredith’s eyes slowly dissipated.
After waiting another live minutes, there was no reply from the other party as expected. Meredith logged out and switched to a different account, where a new number had messaged her.
Zenon: ‘It’s me, Uncle Zen
Meredith was dumbstruck. She pretended not to see the message and ignored it.
At this moment, she suddenly heard a hiss in the quiet room.
Meredith followed the sound and saw two snakes slithering on the window. She could see their blood–red tongues as they hissed and slowly glided in. Their glossy, dark green eyes gleamed coldly as they stared at
Meredith.
Meredith remembered closing the window next to the bed, but it was now wide open.
The room had an eerie atmosphere as the snakes wriggled in while the cold autumn wind swept into the space in the middle of the night.
Outside the window was a balcony connected to the neighboring room, and it was dark on the patio.
Meredith got up to go to the window and suddenly saw a dark figure dart across the balcony. She heard at click, and the lights in her room were turned off almost immediately.
Meredith was dumbfounded.
James crouched below the window, holding a video camera. He was waiting to capture Meredith’s miserable appearance as she screamed and cried in terror.
However, a few minutes passed, and James had yet to hear Meredith’s screams as expected. He was crouching in the dark in his pajamas and was freezing. Why does this country bumpkin have such a delayed reaction? Why isn’tshe screaming in agony?
Another ten minutes passed, but the room was still silent. Has that country bumpkin fainted from fear?
James could no longer hold back and pressed the switch in his hands to turn on the light.
He looked up secretly but found that no one was in the room. Even the snakes he had released were gone!
What’s going on?! He thought that he was seeing things and leaned into the room.
“Are you having fun?” A cold voice suddenly rang behind James. He jumped in fright and hit his head on the window sill, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.
He didn’t know where the video camera had landed, and he accidentally pressed the switch again in his panic, turning off the lights. His surroundings instantly plunged back into darkness.

see a pale face floating behind him. It made him scream in fright. “Ah! Help! It’s a ghost! Stay away!”
“Shut up. You’re so noisy!” His screams were giving Meredith a headache. She turned off the flashlight on her phone and turned on the balcony light.
When James heard the familiar voice, he immediately fell silent. When he looked closer and saw Meredith, he instantly crawled up in anger and embarrassment.
“You country bumpkin. Why did you scare me?!” He approached Meredith furiously, wanting to kick her. But when he walked closer, he saw that Meredith was holding two seven–inch snakes in her left hand, and they were wrapped around her fair arm.
Meredith raised her left hand, and James stopped dead in his tracks from fear. He staggered back a few steps before finally falling to the ground. “You… you… you….” James’s face turned pale from fright, and he stuttered, unable to speak.
“Did you do this?” Meredith looked down at the person trembling on the ground with a cold and indifferent expression on her delicate face.
Although James was terrified, he was furious to see Meredith questioning him. I’m the one who played a prank on Meredith. Why have the tables turned?!
He refused to accept it, so he got up and said stubbornly, “It’s because you took my room from me! You deserve to be bitten by the venomous snakes! If you kneel and ask me for mercy, I might consider forgiving you… Ah! Help! Ah!”
Meredith couldn’t be bothered to listen to his childish remarks and threw the snakes in her hand at him.
James was terrified. He spun around, pushed Meredith away, and hurriedly retreated to his room, forcefully slamming the door shut with a bang.
The two snakes, which didn’t even graze James‘ clothes, slithered on the ground. Meredith glanced at the puddle James had left on the floor and was dumbstruck.
On the other end, Zenon leaned against his bed and repeatedly checked his phone to see if the person he had messaged on WhatsApp had read his message. He wanted to call Meredith and ask why she hadn’t added him to her contacts.
However, he gave up after glancing at the time and reached for his iPad on the bedside table. He opened Google and typed in a query. ‘How can I make others add me to their contacts on WhatsApp?
At this time, he heard a notification on his phone. He had received a message on WhatsApp. He picked up his phone and saw a text from a new number.
Myra: ‘Hello, I’m Myra Kane. Thank you for the tiramisu. It was delicious. Let’s be friends!”
The man’s slender fingers swiped across the screen as he ignored the message. He continued his search on Google with his iPad.
