After all was said and done, Samantha had no choice but to drive away with Christopher in resignation. When they arrived at Artemis Kitchen, the room was already filled with people. As soon as they heard the sound of the door opening, everyone

cheered.

“Hey! Are my eyes deceiving me? Why do I see Ms. Vanderbilt standing at the door?” A man raised his hand and rubbed his eyes as he spoke.

Another one echoed, “Oh my, you’re right! Oh, our forgetful Ms. Vanderbilt finally remembers that she has small fries like

“Come on, you two are small fries? One is the deputy director of Angevin General Hospital, and the other is the second-in- command in the traditional medicine industry. You call yourself inconspicuous? You humblebrag. The person on the side rolled their eyes gracefully, speechless.

Everyone in the restaurant was Samantha’s friends. Hence, she had been accustomed to this. She chuckled and walked up to a table. Then, she raised the glass in her hand and said loudly. “Everyone, it’s my fault for standing you up last time. I promise I won’t leave again today. I’ll drink this as my apology”

After Samantha finished speaking, the people fell into an eerie silence. They were hesitant to speak and watched the glass in Samantha’s hand with bated breath.

“Ms. Vanderbilt, why don’t you have some juice instead?” At this time, someone spoke up hesitantly. Although their voice was low, it was loud enough for everyone present to hear.

Hearing that, Samantha looked at the man with doubts in her eyes, musing, ‘Why are these people so strange? “It’s just a glass of wine. What’s there to be afraid of? With that, Samantha tilted her head back and gulped down her wine. Seeing this, Christopher didn’t stop her. He let her drink as much as she wanted, and he would cover for her if anything happened.

Samantha turned the glass upside down to indicate that she had finished drinking. Her cheeks seemed to flush slightly. Fortunately, the one she had drunk was beer with low alcohol content. She should be fine. After Samantha put the glass on the table, she suddenly felt a little dizzy, but she didn’t give it much thought. She turned to walk to Christopher and pulled him to the center. Boa hurriedly followed up upon seeing this. He feared that Samantha might be drunk and prayed for her silently.

Joanna also became worried, feeling that something bad was going to happen while seeing Samantha acting like that. She quietly came to the spot closest to Samantha Joanna was a girl and also Samantha’s best friend. She knew Samantha best. When Samantha got drunk, Samantha would act crazy for a while, but she would soon sober up and forget about her madness.

Samantha started, “Let me introduce you. This is Christopher Wright, In the future-

Joanna took out a handkerchief from behind and covered Samantha’s mouth and nose. Samantha struggled for a while before she went still. However, just as Christopher was about to take action with Joanna, Samantha woke up, her face no longer red. She felt that she was holding a person’s hand, so she lowered her head to take a look. When she saw that she was holding Christopher’s hand, she let go of it calmly and placed her hands behind her back. She looked at everyone with a concerned expression and said, “This is my friend, and he came by for dinner.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Samantha’s identity hadn’t been disclosed by the authorities yet. It was not yet for her to do that. If Freddie found out that Samantha’s identity was exposed, he would kick up

a fuss.

With that, Samantha took Christopher and looked for a place to sit down. Everyone had already ordered their dishes, and all the dishes were served half an hour later.

Chapter 18

At this time, Christopher had disappeared from the table and gone missing. Samantha looked at the beer on the side of the table and proceeded to pour some for herself while everyone was chatting. However, Christopher showed up and stopped her. “Drinking is bad for your health. You’d better stop drinking. Have some milk.” Christopher put a bottle of milk in front of Samantha and sat down.

Samantha looked at the milk in front of her and then Christopher, who was eating. “So, you went out earlier just to buy me milk?” she asked doubtfully.

“Yes, all the milk in this store is cold. You’d better drink something warm,” he said.

The sweat on Christopher’s forehead indicated how hot it was outside. If she remembered correctly, there were no fresh milk stores on this street. The nearest one was over ten yards away from this street. Samantha looked at Christopher, who buried his nose in his plate. She suddenly felt something different, but she didn’t give it much thought. She just thanked him and began to drink the milk.

Out of Samantha’s sight, Christopher was gasping lightly. The fresh milk stores on the street had been closed. Christopher had run to the fresh milk store about three miles away to buy the last bottle of milk. He then carefully carried it in his arms and ran back. After arriving at the entrance of the restaurant, he caught his breath before going in.

During the meal, Christopher noticed that Samantha liked to eat shrimp the most, so he put on gloves and shelled some for

her.

Samantha refused him, but Christopher made various excuses to make Samantha give in. Eventually, Samantha got used to Christopher’s feeding to the point where after Samantha finished eating, there was nothing left in front of her, while in front of Christopher was a pile of shrimp shells and crab shells.

Seeing this, people around began to suspect whether Christopher had an interest in Samantha.

“Ms. Vanderbilt, judging by your attire, it seems that you have gone to Meadows High School to straighten things out again The person who spoke had long wanted to ask this question. They felt that something was amiss when they saw Christopher and Samantha wearing the same school uniform,

“Grandpa Albert wants to see me. What can I do?” said Samantha

There was nothing wrong with her sentence. Among the people who cared about Samantha, Albert doted on her the most. He treated Samantha like she was his own granddaughter.

“But we miss you, too, Ms. Vanderbilt. You’re too busy,” someone said.

Another one chimed in, “We can’t even get you to hang out with us. That’s so sad.”

It was someone whose chat handle was Ms.Vanderbilt’sFutureGF who said this. She was wearing a black dress and a pair of 4- inch stilettos. She had an attractive figure body and possessed perfect features, looking like a real-life siren.

“Can’t you guys act normal for once? I just had dinner.” Someone laughed and scolded her when they saw this, and the room was full of laughter. There were also some elders present, and they smiled at each other and laughed over their drinks.

The air was buzzing with good vibes, like everyone saved up all their grins for this one bash.

“I’m not busy these days. I can go out anytime, but only when I have no plans.” Samantha smiled at the scene and spoke.

“Ms. Vanderbilt, are you refusing me? When have you not been busy? Besides, you owe me several movie dates,” Jasmine Sullivan said coquettishly and stomped her foot.

“Haha, Jas, you’ll scare Ms. Vanderbilt off.” Joanna chuckled as she patted Jasmine on the back, musing, “This young woman hasn’t changed a bit. She is never serious.

Seeing this, Samantha said helplessly. “The Vanderbilt family sail that they’re going to hold a party in a few days. If you’d like to attend. I’ll give you the jewelry I designed last time as compensation.”

As soon as Samantha’s words fell. Jasmine, caught off guard, hugged Samantha and said joyfully, “Ms. Vanderbilt, you’re too kind to me. I have nothing to repay your kindness but to devote myself to you.”

Samantha felt overwhelmed by Jasmine’s embrace. Seeing this, Christopher stepped forward and pulled the two away, then shielded Samantha behind him.
