Chapter 8.1
Wolf took me inside where I rested in our room still being shaken from the vision and the fact that so much is going on, I must have shut down. My body trembles but light that passes into the room lightens up everything and warmed my not cold body. It just gives me comfort as I lay in the bed just breathing.
Wolf left for only a moment, though returned with a glass of water that I only took one sip from. As it was a comfort. Except it did not sooth me as my mind did not want to think of the vision but the murders and somehow that calmed, yet still gave me a uneasy feeling.
I saw up and rested myself against the backboard and upon doing so Wolf sat at the edge of the bed in front of me, facing the window. Letting the light shine on him to loo majestic even though he was already great.
“How are you feeling?” his words tender.
“Better” I let my eyes travel to his and smiled, “just feel shaky that is all.” I confessed.
“Okay” he took the glass from me and placed it on the table by the window where some books have been stored, he refocused his gaze back to me and the energy was heavy. Even though everything between us was good. He wanted to come close to me but wasn’t sure how I would feel about his touch as he kept his distance. I realized this and leaned forward to him taking his hand and brought it up to my mouth and kissed it. A smile formed on his face and he eased as his body was apparently tense.
“So, what do you want to talk about” filling the room with his voice but I knew he been wanting to talk about what happened at the Aer Kingdom and we had taken a royal family bombshell. Since he knew I would not talk any more about the vision.
“Well since the royals are keened that the murders are connected solely based on that they have something to them that everyone find odd, it doesn’t give much to go on” I stated, while I leaned myself back on the headboard connected to the bed.
“Or what about the fact that they believe it relates to this some sort of unbalance on the kingdoms?” Wolf reminded me, but scrunched his eyebrows together, “wait should you be figuring this out with Captain Thuse?”
I waved a hand, passing the statement by, “yes but there is something about him I don’t know even though Emily says he is a good guy and I keep coming up to a road block with him as in he not much help.”
Wolf stayed silent but after a moment nodded.
“First off,” I started brainstorming out loud. “First murder Thuse I have come to the conclusion about is that the message is giving, I am a puppet, I would assumed she danced under someone command, no choice for her own.” I pointed out the victim Nova to Wolf.
“Yes” Wolf nodded in agreement, “but then why did the killer want you to find them, must be a deeper message behind that.”
I pursed my lips together and took a beath, he had a point but one I dd not have an answer too.
“Well aside spinning your head on that, what results did you find with the murder of the other victim?”
I wanted to sigh but also a mild laugh left my lips, almost as if I was about to mock my own answer. Wolf came closer dipping the bed causing my body to shift towards him but only slightly. Wolf narrowed his gaze at me as if it was the reaction to my odd statement.
“What?” he treaded the world slowly.
“Well when I told Thuse that his gaze was directed to the horizon, meaning specifically the killer wanted his gaze to be drawn out. Thuse just simply said ‘looking over a king’.”
Wolf still stared at me and I could understand why, “well to be simpler, my conclusion, which I have not told Thuse, but you, I feel that the killer was mocking the male, or something about the male being on a throne for some reason for ruling as a future king,”
Again, Wolf scrunched his eyebrows pursuing his lips, “a king who looks over everything only to have the opportunity stripped from him.” Wolf finished the thought and I nodded in agreement.
“King of the World, but not really.”
Wolf body sagged while he blew out a breath, “that’s sad.”
“The world is sad,” I countered, “I just cannot imagine what is trying to be told by the killer, same person or not I believe.
“Curious thought, do you think the murders are sending a message as a whole not separate?” Wolf rose and made his way to the window peering out.
“Why would they send a message as a whole, meaning that she confided to being manipulated by a king? But who would it be for?” I moved to sit at the edge of the bed but not allowing my feet to touch the carpet.
“Well,” Wolf sounded like he wanted to counter my thought, “the believed audience is to be you, but why?”
“I feel we are going in circle with this talking about what is what.” I rose up and made my way to Wolf but picked up the glass of water and drank the cool liquid down. And stood joining his gaze that was directed outside. The treehouse was just out of view but the beautiful forest stood before us as majestic force of safety.
“Well till you and Thuse can figure out why it is directed to you, I don’t know what much help I can be.” And slipped his hand into mine giving it a squeeze to lowering his lips to my cheek pacing a wonderful soft kiss on my cheek. And a small smile of appreciation spread across my face.
The moment was lost when a sound of a alarm ripped through the air and rand loudly into my eardrums. I quickly covered my ears out of reflex and stared at Wolf as he did with me.
“Unknown outsiders” I said between the break of the siren and Wolf nodded.
Within the instant we both dashed through the house descending loudly on the wooden steps. Like a herd of horses. I followed Wolf out he door that he forced open almost breaking it off the hinges and scampered down the porch with my breathing already hitched.
Usually, the sirens only blare unless intruders come or there is a threat to even a unknown people that we should wary of. Siren are for warning everyone, alert the Alpha, and warn the elders and children to go hide while us young adults and adults deal with the matter. Since Wolf is Alpha, he needed to be on the front line just to see the problem, first hand before we make further decisions.
We now were running through the village and trees, our feet pounding the earth as it stomped hard creating few seconds of hurt to spread. I was only a few feet behind Wolf as I saw the wind of our passing create a parachute on his back, but he was fast and never slowing down. I felt the wind slice pass my skin and felt it thread through my hair creating drag of a pull, but made me feel weightless. We pushed through every inch just to get to the docks sooner than later.
We broke through to the center of the village and bolted towards the docks where I could see a crowd begin to form. People already running but saw us and practically step out or jumped out of the way to make room for us. It was like jumping through obstacles with thunderous feet and heat almost searing your skin.
Wolf slowed to a job as he reached the crowd but put a hand behind him slowing me down and launched his hand on to what he could grab onto. Which was my hand luckily.
People made way for us as we now were jogging lightly with few sprints, just threading through the crowd. Few saw us approaching and already making a path for us. Eventually after huffs of breaths we reached to the what the commotion was all about.
There standing before us were unusually beings, they stood there about five of them on the docks next to a ship that made me think of Vikings. As they looked, it gave the impression that they were possibly vikings but not. What caught my attention about them as I clung to Wolf’s arm as he stood there sternly was the marking across their faces. Only two of them who stood in-front the other. Male and female had a golden black line that reached from ear to ear, over the nose with two dots under the line on the cheek and full circle outline between their eyebrows. While the three behind them had to parallel bold lines reach just above the eyebrows and reached just below the bottom eyelid.
They held themselves of pride but were cautious of us as we are with them.
Wolf planted himself firmly with his claws already extending just encase. “Who are you, and what do you want?” he spoke the common Lycan tongue. His voice clear telling me the sirens stopped blaring.
The two in front stared between Wolf and I and long glances at our hands, where they are clasped together. I studied them quickly.
Man, and women, hand rose golden type of skin with sandy hair. The man who was dressed what looked like rough fabric outlining his body in dark blueish grey. Almost as if he came from a different century. The woman dressed in golden brown, but faded to dark, suiting against her skin and fitted her body. Her hair in dreads, half up with sticks and other half looking like snakes draped over her shoulder.
The male spoke after what seemed like too many seconds had done by.
“I am Asbjorn” his rugged voice rough around the Lycan language as if he was not sued to this type of wording and pronunciation.
“And I, Ursuline” the woman voice similar to the male as if common tongue was not known, but her sounded smoother.
“And we come to question you” she pointed at us with fierceness.
“What about us?” I found my voice.
The man and woman stared narrowing their focus on me as if it was not my place to speak.
“To question if you cause the disorder in the world, cause the change in magic” Ursuline sneered
