Chapter 16.2
The tree branches woven stood in front of our. Staring vividly at me, I almost jolted as her yes were almost emerald. Shining sparkly
Her voice now breaking bark. “By our laws of the earth elf kingdom, you will remain in prison till proven.”
I stared at her utterly confused, “we didn’t know, you cannot hold us if we did not know” my eyes darted at her and then over shoulder to Emily whose eyes down casted. Cold went through me and. I forced a shiver down she knew but probably thought it was not important.
“By order till our king and queen want to speak with you, you will remain here.” She spins away and the two men and girl follow her up the stairs with only their feet echoing through the halls telling us they were long gone now.
I slumped to my feet in disbelief, this could not be happening. “How could have this happened?” I question a whisper yet echoed loud.
Wolf slumped beside me staring straight ahead to where Emily pressed herself against the branches of cell peering around the corner.
“It is because of their mistrust to Immortals” Emily replied which surprised me. I raised my eyes to her though she didn’t meet my gaze as she kept staring out.
I could get us out I instantly thought and set my hand to the ground where the jolt of cool stone were cold and dirt racked up beneath my fingertips.
Release, I thought, but nothing happened. I reached out for it again but nothing again happened it was if my powers ceased to exit.
Emily must had realized what I was doing and shook her head in disappointment. “Asema I am sorry to say but elf prisons block any other type of magic out only they are allowed to use powers.”
I didn’t reply and retreated my hand and folded my hands together and leaned into Wolf who kept staring at the barrier door.
“I can cut the barriers with my claws” he suggested already getting up but Emily again spoke.
“Even Lycan magic is blocked, only elf can use magic.”
Wolf slumped back down allowing me to rest myself into his chest.
“this is ridiculous” Thuse shouted, jolting everyone out of their daze, he started beating the wall connected to our cell and beating the barriers as crunching not breaking echoed throughout the prison. “we are on tight schedule! Emily how could you have been stupid to fly into elf territory,” he paused and I saw her face morph into anger. He must be staring her down, “ why did you do it, take a risk and now we are here because of you!” he roared and I could hear him, his feet sliding and stomping against the cobble stone and it scarfing it up.
“There was a dead body, this was a short cut, I did not think they would shoot us down,” she spoke and turned away and sat down her back to the wall farthest away from us.
I began to think, no powers, no weapons as apparently they stripped us, no way out, who knows how long we would be here and we had no chance of sending a message for help. We are actually screwed.
Rest of that afternoon, Damon and Emily would speak in low hushes to the another, possibly planning or joking about their first few days of marriage and they ended up in a jail cell. Or just talking. While Wolf and I occasionally talked with one another but in his language and Wofl respects my choice of feeling about Thuse. So no one could understand us, we talked about the attack how it made no sense why I was drowning yet not when earth elves attacked us. Just thinking about made my body shiver which did not help as I could tell night time was coming making the stones cool against our skin creating shivers. Time like this I preferred my fire power. But I pushed through and was thankful for Wolfs warm body. AS well with of the rest of the day down to nightfall Thuse would stop pacing his cell aside from the occasional paused then started up again, he spoke in quiet murmurs probably about the mission or something as his voice was just to low. The words jumbled together.
He did not stop pacing which caused peddles to jump and the dirt to fly up into the air causing disturbance for us as few of us tried to rest.
Eventually Damon barked at him to shut up that caused a mid step then complete silence. Damon was furious but he instantly went back to Emily as if it was nothing.
Lightness present in our cell but dim, leaking through the ceiling of stone and roots. But golden rays shone down on the stone causing a stained glass feeling to be painted.
I was wrapped in Wolf’s arms trying my best to keep warm, was only a little awake when sounds of feet against the stone clambered down causing loud echoes n the chambers. It jolted me fully awake as it did with everyone lose.
What was going to happen? I assumed that was on everyone’s mind.
Our answer would soon come as the same tree branch elf came to in view halting in front of Wolfs and I cell. Peering down possibly studying us.
Wolf and I looked at one another wondering what we were to do.
“You been requested by our majesties to be in their presence,” she said and stood back allowing the barrier to unravel away. But soon as the opening appeared something wrapped around our wrists behind our backs and we were forced to our feet. By the unknown elf guards I presume as they held spears in their hands and wore armour of tree bark and metal. They roughly pushed us forward and lead us up the stairs leaving behind curious but worried Damon and Emily.
Exiting out of the prison chambers and into the fortress of trees covered with palms leaves and crickets in the distance. You could already feel the change in warmth and freshness of air as we were directed down a grand hall. I exhaled almost relived for nature and not stone walls to fill my lungs. It felt like freedom aside form being bound behind my back.
We continued down the hallway of a grand hall nothing was decorated of it and branches were just supporting roof. Eventually we approached wooden or stone double doors but accompanied by nature of dirt vines and dead tree branches giving a sense of a tomb feeling that had nature growing over it, overtime with no human touch. The branch girl pushes the doors open gesturing us to enter into what looked like a throne room.
Right away my eyes go to the front or back of the room where two throne chairs on a dais are placed with two seated elves who looked as if they were gods. I directed my attention away just to study the room. The throne room was open space. Probably enough to hold least forty people with still having room.
The room gave a feeling of a open space in the jungle yet we were in a palace throne room. I looked gaping at the ceiling as it was a dome yet archways branches held up the leaves. It may have been a illusion or something as I could see subtle wind pass by the leaves giving life outside this room.
I returned my gaze to the two thrones and realize it was not leaves or tree trunks that created walls but a thick forest behind them, barely allowing you to see further then two feet ahead.
“So, you are the famous Lycan and Immortal” a rough voice spoke, snapping my attention back to the two elves. Particularly the male. Pointed ears expected, golden sun hair, laying just above the tips of his ears. His eyes green but brought out by the leaves. Face almost sculpted to perfection yet lips tucked together. He held himself high staring down at me us as subject. I realized that his crown looked like a child made it. His deeming eyes looked down onto me but sld over to Wolf who I sideways glanced at as he had lost some colour, But he answered the king.
“Yes, we are those people” his voice ragged and that was all he said as he sideway glanced at me but not to give a reassuring look rather to probably see if I was still there.
“I must say you have intrigued the world.” The feminine voice spoke, landing my eyes onto the queen. She also had blonde hair but closer to white, green eyes and I didn’t noticed till I looked again but silted pupils. She too held herself high with razor sharp cheekbones. A crown also woven sticks.
And somehow I found my voice, “because we did not marry within our own creature range?” I questioned them.
The king and queen both stared at me as if I was out of my place to speak. The queen replied but ice against ripping through the air.
“Yes because of that but also not ever known for interracial couple could exist. It is almost safer for same species to come as one as the results would be known.” She somehow calmed herself at the spoken words as the she spoke out of anger.
The king stood as his people bowed and stepped back a few paces as the king descended smoothly down the steps and towards us keeping his eyes on Wolf and I the entire time. His feet creating a crunching noise from ground and ceased once he stood a few feet before us. His hands folded together behind him inspecting us in a closer view.
It occurred to me he had cape attached to his back, yet wore a brown tunic and earthly pants almost made him seem like a normal person if not for the crown placed on his head.
Oddly my heart beating in my chest was steady, I felt steady, I did not feeling intimidated like Wolf but why was that?
The king spoke again causing my attention to snap back. “we are intrigued like everyone else, how this” he gestured his eyes to Wolf and me, “is possible” somehow Wolf and I on cue looked at one another but our gaze went straight back to King.
“Ever hear of the mate bond?” I pondered the idea to the kind who only furrowed his eyebrows.
“Yes, but that between Lycans and a few other alone” he now was confused.
I shrugged my shoulders, “well” Wolf piped in and I could see corner of my eye his colour coming back. “The bond is strong between us.”
The Elf king brought his hand to his chin rubbing it almost trying to make the wheels turn in his head. Soon he turned back to his queen.
“Few more days in the cell to study the,” he remarked in voice of bark that was rough against my skin.
“No!” I shrieked, “We are on a mission to solve a murder in the Terra Kingdom we need to leave!”
Everyone paused and stared at me as if I grown two heads, I looked around me odd feeling began to swarm me. Even Wolf was not sure what to say.
“Throw them back in” the queen flawless voice hissed and the guards jerked us back out of the room but not before I caught a few more words from the king and queen.
“She speaks our language, how?”
“Something is odd about that Immortal.”
