Chapter 5.1
It wasn't a long drive but sure felt like one, Kieran drove us through a couple of valleys, then over two hills. Soon after five minutes we were rounding a building and onto a paved road of the town.
I looked over at my side and saw people and buildings go by while we drove past them. Kieran maneuvered the car around a few more buildings till we ended up in a parking garage. He turned the car off and sat there taking a deep breath. Confusion ran through me wondering what was going on.
“What?” I demanded.
He trailed his focus to me and analyzed me from head to my hands that were placed on my lap. His forehead creases as if he is debating something.
“I will be disguising us because I do not want anyone to know we are here or draw attention.” He states.
“transform” he snapped his fingers as the words slithered off his tongue to a slight accent on him.
I felt different as I my body shifted to someone else. I looked at myself in the side mirror and saw that I looked like brunette human. It looked oddly familiar, it hit for a bit to realize this is what I looked like before I changed. Instantly I switched my focus to Kieran who looked exactly the same.
“Why are you still you?”
He smiled as if he was glad I was confused, “we see each other as normal self, but reflections and what others sees are completely different.” And slide out of the car while beckoning me to come.
I followed him, worried on what he had in store for this journey through the town.
The streets were busy but they also were not bad. There were a few pedestrians here and there walking about doing everyday tasks. Though it may have been the weather itself as if had a grey tint to it even though it quite nice out.
The town itself had trees and the autumn colours, giving a cozy feeling. I took a deep breath expressing some contentment knowing that there was some normality to this place aside from the nightmare that walked beside me forcing me to hold his cold yet hot hand. We roamed around the town as if we weretourists even though looked like we fit right in.
We turned a corner while Kieran was casually telling me some history of the town and how he is treated if to showed his true face.
I saw a canal with bridges every few feet that almost complimented with the opening of some streets around. I must have been stunned by the beauty itself when I heard Kieran lightly laughing. I looked over to him and raised my eyebrows at him.
“What?” I asked harshly.
He cocked his head and bore his eyes into mine. “You are truly stunned by this beauty aren’t you” He led us to walk parallel of the canal, to there I saw a few more predestinarians walking. Telling me there are crowds nearby. I tried jerking my hand out of his grasp for some reason but he painfully kept it locked in his.
“I will admit, yes, it is beautiful. I didn’t realize how beautiful it was till we came to a place that has beautiful dying trees with water that looks like it never been touched with boats making only a few ripples of water.” I described to him, maybe might give him a few distractions.
He looked forward and was probably thinking to himself.
I huffed a annoyance breath. He shifted us to an upcoming bridge and dragged me behind him almost to the middle and stopped us at the railing where I looked down of actual crystal blue clear water below us. While listening to once and while few others who walked passed us as if they could care less on who we were.
I focused my attention back to Kieran where he was leaning on the railing while looking at my hands and smoothing his thumb them. I only stood there with occasionally looking around seeing if I could somehow get away.
“You know” his voice oddly gentle, I catiously brought my attention to him. He shifted his head tilted it studying me. “I never thought I would ever meet you…or ever have you in my arms…funny how time and fate works,” a smiled crept onto his lips.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “What does that have to do with anything? You kidnapped me and forced yourself on because you think you can get whatever you want because you are some banished prince.”
He actually let go of my hand and before I knew it, I shifted away from him only to be painfully stopped by my wrist and realize the bracelet. It was really was a leash. And there he was enjoying the show of me trying to lamely escape.
I shifted back to him to where the pain stopped, and was now uncomfortably close to him while the wind didn’t help the situation with a cool breeze.
“You keep fighting, and I don’t understand why, and besides” he leans over to me as if he making a point. “You still don’t understand your importance of who you are.”
“What the bloody hell are you talking about?" I asked with irritation.
“Soon, you will find out” he ushers his arm to me and I reluctantly take it and he begin to make our way back to the garage parking lot.
We walked and only few blocks away when I bumped into someone who wasn’t looking or I wasn’t looking and I immediately to apologized to him. Though he was already amongst the crows, he barely noticed I hit him while Kieran whispers irritation under his breath on how rude people have become.
I felt a cold chill, but oddly it was comforting as if someone truly knew who I was.
A voice appeared in my head though it was sudden and I barely got it.
'Asema he is coming’
I looked to where the man was and he was gone.
Kieran roughly dragged me away from the people and we walked off to the car. Kieran threw me into my seat and joined me on the other side. And he drove off
Wolf
He was watching the town below from the hill side mountain where the pack and himself were hidden. They been scouting out towns and villages to find any traces of Asema to see if she was near anywhere. One of the men from the pack broke away from the town and soon in Lycan form running up the hill side and moment later came out of the trees to greet Wolf.
Wolf turned to see him, and always his focus went to the Lycan mark that was hidden to humans. It reached the man left eyebrow with three parallel scratch like lines that trailed down to under his chin as if it was a permanent scared mark. When reality it, it marked him as a tracer, someone who can stay in disguise and fine people who were in disguise. A rare breed they were.
They could see through magic.
Wolf nodded his head in acknowledgement wondering what the update was.
The man smiled, “good news, I found her and she is in the area. We are closer.”
