Chapter 4
So many Red Immortals, though one thing I have noticed is that they do not have red eyes like Kieran and I do. Rather they have normal coloured eyes with stronger vibrance to them. But I should have remembered that because of the books I read about with the differences between red and black immortals. Searching my mind, I don’t think there was any mention of the eyes.
With Red Immortals they feed on humans like you hear in story books, they are predators as they merge into society and feed. While black immortals only feed on special blood, but do not live with humans but in their own society. Sometimes they do live with humans but need to wear contacts.
I shook my thoughts away I don’t even know why I thinking about this considering I am practically in a room full of Red Immortals.
I casted my attention back to the people we were in the ballroom with. A place I explored before when I was roaming around, the decor was so gold and beautiful. It was gold trimmed around the windows, with gas light chandeliers hanging from the ceiling letting off that nice dimmed but bright light and feel to the room. The light made the gold look rich in its colour as it also made Kieran look rich himself. Since being by his side in this room I felt comfortable with Kieran since usually I fear him. But at the moment I feared the Reds.
Watching them, they acted so human, causing me to think, why did Kadea create them? It did not make sense why she would have two different sets of Immortals. The ones that can be around humans and the ones who thirst for human and kill.
When we had entered the room, we were announced as ‘Lord Kieran and his lady Asema,’ I frowned at the words. But through the night Kieran either had his hand on my back or offered me his arm to hold on to. Causing me to be near him all times.
Since, then his hand has not left my body since. It was comforting in a odd way, but same time it was unnerving.
We then just kept moving through the crowd while Kieran spoke to most high leaders of Red Immortals. Even though I have not seen the Red Queen yet but Kieran told me he invited her.
We were walking a couple steps more till I spotted her. I slightly looked up to Kieran wondering if he saw her too. I hoped he didn’t otherwise I would have to deal with her again.
Watching her some afar she gave me same odd feeling that gave me chills of death and sorrow. To my despair Kieran looked like he was scanning the crowd and spotted her. With that Kieran dragged me to her and before we even reached her he quickly whispered in my ear.
“Asema, bite your tongue tonight” He warned.
I bit my tongue holding back my comment to him.
We reached her and she looked daunting, her usual jet-black hair was spread out around her shoulders reaching her waist. She looked like she was young twenties but she was probably more than a thousand years old.
The looks she gave is what lured men in I assumed. Her dressed was red but had a dark red corset with black string. The dress itself was longer in the back then in the front. Laid on top of her head was a crown of pure gold that looked more like princess tiara then a king’s crown.
“Hello your majesty” Kieran bowed forcing me to bow with him.
Straightening up and I found that she was looking me dead in the eyes.
“Asema” She spoke in her thick accent. “Do you like the party that Kieran has thrown for you” she inclined her head with a smile curled on mouth as she lightly batted her eyes to Kieran.
I looked at him but too briefly.
’A party for me, yeah of course I love being showed that Kieran can defeat me, or have him cheat in fighting’ is what I wanted to say.
“Yes, the party is nice, are you enjoying it?” I seethed the words through my teeth.
She grinned, “Yes, I am,” she attention still to Kieran
She wanted him bad, and I would have loved to say ’have him’ and walked away but I knew that would not happen.
“So,” The queen spoke again. “Have you learned how to hold your tongue when spoken to” she asked, but for no answer giving that daring evil look.
If Kieran wouldn’t have had a strong hold on me, I would have lunged at her and killed her if I could. Rather the anger of that statement boiled through my veins. I bit my tongue and remembered what Kieran said to me.
“Yes, I have learned and therefore will give better respect” I forced out of my mouth.
“Good, I will not be disrespected again” She stated and with that she turned around and walked away to join another group of Immortals.
Kieran then shifted me and, with me in his arms, tracing his hands up my them to my face cupping it and forcing me face to him.
“Good job, you finally learned when to hold your tongue in front of royalty” he smiled, and let go of my face and trailed a hand down to my back and around my waist leading me onto the dance floor.
“We shall dance now” Kieran said roughly leading me on the dance floor where we glided across illuminance tiles. Kieran led gracefully, though my love of dancing didn’t come alive.
“This night alright for you luv?” Kieran asked.
I looked at him I didn’t want to say anything rather I just wanted this night to be over. But if it was over another nightmare would soon appear.
“The night is decent I suppose” I answered as the warm air began caressing my skin.
“Hmm, now how do I fix that.” Kieran hummed, he stood back and twirled me around letting my dress flare out. I smiled for a brief moment. This dressed was beautiful especially how it was like a blush wave on the water when the sun was about to set.
“You can fix it by letting me go” I urged, after being slammed into his body with the air being knocked out of my lungs.
“Not going to happen,” Kieran pressing my body up against his body, he lowered his mouth to my ear and whispered. “you belong to me.”
“See that is what I don’t understand… how?”
We kept gliding across the dance floor. Everyone in unison of flying colours.
Kieran placed his hands little bit lower on my back and pressed it firmly, pushing me even closer to him. Then swoosh, he dipped me leaving my hair flow off my shoulders and reach the floor. Swinging me back up to face him and planted a kiss on me. He broke away looking at me.
“It is who you are and how your powers are connected to me” He replied.
I went rigid, forcing my body to move since we were still dancing. Then without warning the words came out of my mouth.
“Why are you doing this?” I begged him. “I am just an Immortal with special powers.”
He looked at me in confusion, then he smiled his devilish look.
“Oh Love, you are so much more than that, you don’t even realize how much greatness you have.” He said, twirled me around again and slamming into his body.
I rolled my eyes secretly knowing he would not see.
