Chapter 16
Asema
We stared at the Red Warriors as they stared at us. My questioning is how were they able to stand in this sunlight right now? Kieran power?
“No, Kieran does not deserve her, leave and we won’t kill you” Wolf retorted back.
“There is no time negotiation here” The man said. And drew the first strike but Wolf caught him with his Lycan claw and swung him away. With that Wolf grabbed my hand and was about to drag me away but another red warrior cut us off.
He struck us by catching Wolf off guard but somewhere inside of me thought of something, and before Wolf could draw a another claw hand I came forward sweeping the man off his feet. Kicked him in the face and grabbed his falling sword. I swung it at his head and watched it topple onto the damp moss that now bloodied from the corpse.
Looking back at Wolf who was surprised by what I did, but soon came to his sense. “Together… we fight together”
With that two more red warrior came at us. We nodded at each other. We both defended every attack that they struck on us. With flipping my weapon up and down, heaving it around was more like it as I was not used to the weight. The clashing made my arms tired and feel fuzzy as the vibrance was getting stronger.
Though Wolf would block my attacks if I didn’t see them and I would do the same for him. Except one attack came right for my ear, I did a sideways swing into it spinning around giving me more power and sliced his weapons hand off. He was left defenceless or so I thought. Suddenly his face went dark and his eyes filled with veins popping out where could no longer see his pupils. I was almost frozen solid by the terror till Wolf shouted
“Asema!”
I didn’t move at first but I Wolf came and lashed the man back while I soon came to my senses and sliced off his head.
“Where are they coming from” Wolf questioned as I noticed more of them emerging from behind the trees.
“I don’t know” I replied, but instantly thought of something. We were in a forest, and even though I may not have power control I could try.
I lifted my hands and thought of searching for more red warriors and thought of leaf vines wrapping around ankles to bodies. The command was instant as green leaf vines shot from the earth wrapping around whatever was a threat, I could hear distance screams. I twirled as did Wolf and we so there more than we gathered.
The vines wrapped tightly around the red warriors enough that they were secure and would not break lose.
“Good job” Wolf huffed at me with amazement..
I smiled but quickly shifted my attention back to now every struggling red immortal.
Tighten if they struggle. I commanded.
“The more you struggle the more is will tighten around you” I informed them.
Only a few kept struggling while others looked at me with fear. As some were half covered in vines and roots while the others only had wrist and ankles tied down.
“Why can you walk in the sun…and what does Keiran want” I demanded, being wary of whoever will speak first.
The closet one to us who had his arms tied behind him slithered his voice. “Kieran promised whoever joined him that we could walk in the sun again.” He huffed a breath as if he was now in pain from the squeezing vine. “He wants you back, we were order to retrieve if you ever came back to this world.”
I stared at the at the speaker, he looked so much like a human but features were to enhanced to make him look normal.
“And if you failed?”
He stayed silent as did all of them. A bit of sunlight shone down through the trees as speckled light. Some of few areas shone on the red immortals directly while others were still in shade. It knew what my next thought would be and it was not gracious. I turned to Wolf.
“Prepare for some fires”
He cocked his head and crinkled his forehead in confusion, but his expression widen when he realized what I was about to do. The exact same time the speaker realized as well.
“No!” he began struggling against vines, thrashing against them letting rustling of leaves sound the forest. “You can’t!”
I turned back to him. “Well, if your leader really wanted you, he would’ve given a escape plan” I sliced back while tilting my head the sky.
Burn.
Just like a show of sparks lighting up everything, orange, red and yellow began to decorate the forest floor around us. Burnt amber ashes began to fly up. I quickly manipulated the area with air to make sure I wouldn’t cause a forest fire and have Hunters Forest go up in flames.
Wolf and I watched as all of the bodies turned to ash a few leaving several spots liked like they been torched. I surveyed every section, amazed by what I was capable of doing. With this much control, did I really need my necklace? Was Kieran right? I shook that one thought away not wanting to admit it.
“We need to get you back to Pacific Rim now” Wolf commanded. Grabbing my hand and lead me through the trees, within seconds later we entered back into the tower where we were surrounded by a panorama view of Pacific Rim.
“I knew it was a risk… but didn’t think it would be that much of a risk” Wolf said bit irritated.
“Yeah…well we survived and were able to keep alive” I replied calmly.
“You handled that situation far better than I expected…especially without your necklace” Wolf was astonished.
I huffed at him then went into his face looked him in the eyes.
“Then train me as warrior now, and put your business with mine. I should’ve started classes sooner. The more I learn and begin to understand the ways of a warrior faster I can defeat Kieran and get our son back.” I stated.
Wolf was taken a back. He never really seen this type of attitude on me. I am not sure he knew how to process this type of outbreak.
“Come on Wolf, you trained me at Sky High, and you saw potential, would this be any different?”
He stared at me, still not saying anything.
Only after a moment or two he spoke, “I am not sure, because if may not be in your comfort zone…I am not sure. Yes I know you were to train here and learn things but I am hesitant.” He rubbed the back of his neck compilating this choice.
“Why what is so bad if I train at the academy? Plus, me helping may speed up the process of find Kieran which now I come to my sense, he is hiding in the human world, meaning like you said would be hard to trace him” I answered, as I came to conclusion of why it was taking so long.
“I can’t” he replied and made his way to the lift and motioned me to follow him. I obliged filling the lift after him.
“Why not?” I demanded.
Wolf pinched the bridge of his nose as if frustrated by this banter.
“Why Wolf?” I was a commanded rather than question.
“Because you will be the only woman… its only men there…I thought you would’ve have forgotten about attending school here. Only stick to the studies not fighting studies.” he exhaled a breath.
“Then I will show them what I am made of” I simply made me point.
We exited the lift but Wolf stopped us and stared at me, studying me for something I wasn’t sure about. It was if he didn’t know what to think, or trying to trust something by instinct or gut. He knew I was a good fighter and seen what I just capable of when fighting those Red Immortals. But there was something else in his stare that moved back to the doors leading to the street.
“Then let us take you to training now” His words sprung out and motioned me out the doors onto a now loading shuttle We took our seat by some windows and watched a blur city pass by.
“Your right, you are strong and I seen what you are capable of, its only matter of if Brock will accept you. Which he should as Madam had informed him. Hopefully this will go well and we can find Junior quicker.” Wolf said as if his mind was lost in the clouds.
“Wolf don’t be depressed about it, this is actually good in a way that we will be by each other side keeping safe” I said trying to enlighten his mood.
Wolf brought his gaze to mine.
“The whole reason why I trained you in the first place was because you begged…and now you are begging again. Only this time you have a point” He replied with calmness.
“Well I remember if took a little convincing for you even though I am sure you were okay with it.”I replied.
Wolf shifted, with only a faint smile.
I didn’t say much after that, but now I understood why he was not sure about what just happened. He wanted to protect me and keep me from harshness but what he just must have showed him I was okay to fight.
“Least you were able to get me back” I replied quietly hoping to end on a good note there.
He smiled.
“Yes that is true”
We walked off the shuttle and into a huge atrium building, the same placed that looked like stadium. It was like walking into a field house, you have the entrance and main hallway for the field and seats around it to watch the games. But the structure was the same inside was different, seating area was filled with different stations of combat fighting either they had a concrete wall, glass wall or railing for onlookers down below. In the sections were punching bags, machines to work out on and walls to climb.
In a corner far from us was a place that looked like it was design for different types of weathers to fight in.
We walked in a little further and onto the field placed in the middle of the building seen as the main floor and I focused. There I saw a familiar built man. Brock. He was shouting to some warriors in training I presumed. He finished speaking to them when we reached him. The warrior in training scattered and started their tasks.
“Brock, I presume you remember Asema” Wolf started off.
“Yes” he replied turning around to look at us and nodding he didn’t have a warm welcome to me. Making me wonder if we would get along. Though I still had some slight anger towards him.
“When are we able to start her training here at the academy?” Wolf asked like it was painful for him to say.
Brock only smiled at Wolf then brought the gaze to mine.
“Bout time you brought her here.” Brock laughed.
