Uncovering My Wife's Secrets

Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Julian Is Tricked
“Y-You... Y-You bastard!” Tony was so angry that he couldn’t articulate his words
properly.
He gritted his teeth and roared with a deep voice, “Julian, you can bring shame upon
yourself all you want, but neither I nor the Parks family is willing to get humiliated by this
woman!”
“Shame? How so? Don’t you think being disloyal and having a mistress is more
shameful than having an illiterate and poor woman as a wife?” Julian didn’t hesitate in
airing his family’s dirty laundry.
To him, there was nothing he wouldn’t say in public, especially when the other party had
said something hurtful first.
“Y-You!” Tony was trembling in anger..
“Calm down, Dad. Calm down.” Alexander patted Tony’s back before throwing Julian a
helpless glance. “Julian, stop it.”
“For as long as I’m still alive and kicking, there’s no way the Parks family would accept
her!” Tony fumed. Deep down, Tony didn’t want Julian to marry a capable woman
because, after all, he wanted Alexander to be the new CEO of Parks Group.
However, Julian was still his son, regardless of the circumstances. “If he marries a
country bumpkin, how am I supposed to show my face in public? What am I going to
answer when someone asks me which rich family is Julian’s wife from? I can’t possibly
tell them that my daughter-in-law is a country bumpkin, can I?” he thought to himself.
“We’ve already registered our marriage, so we’re legally married. You can disapprove
all you want, but she’s already a part of the Parks family,” Julian answered.
Tony knew he couldn’t win the argument against Julian, so he glared at Annalise and
asked, “What about you? What do you think?”
“I’m going along with whatever Julian said,” Annalise answered.
Upon hearing that, Tony mocked, “Well, why would a country bumpkin like you back
down after you’ve finally established a relationship with a prominent man like Julian?
Listen to me, you’re not on par-”
Right then, Julian interrupted, “So, which rich family is your mistress from?”

“You! Shut up, Julian Parks!” Tony was infuriated when he heard Julian saying the word
“mistress” again.
At the same time, Alexander was ashamed, and the smile on his face began to fade.
The mistress Julian was referring to was none other than Layla Ziegler, Alexander’s
mother.
At that moment, a housekeeper appeared and told them that dinner was ready.
Since Kent wasn’t keen on waiting for a fight to happen between Julian and Tony, he
grabbed the opportunity to be the peacemaker. “Let’s eat. Let’s eat. Since it’s already so
late, I bet everyone’s starving.”
“Dad, let’s eat,” Alexander urged Tony.
Tony got up and went to the dining room alongside Alexander.
Annalise, on the other hand, just gazed at Julian.
Seeing that, Julian softened his expression and uttered, “Let’s eat.”
“Okay,” Annalise agreed.
When everyone had taken their seats at the dining table, Tony glared at Julian and
commanded, “Return to the Parks residence today!”
Julian ignored him and reached out to grasp Annalise’s hand.
Annalise had no idea what Julian had been through, so she wondered, “What’s with the
relationship between him and his father? Based on everything I’ve heard from him, I
know his father had found himself a mistress. Perhaps that had hurt his mother and him
deeply, and that’s why he’s on bad terms with his father. I bet he’s very sad at this
moment.”
Hence, she held his hand in response and comforted him silently.
Since Annalise didn’t have a father, she’d always wondered what he looked like and
whether he knew of her
existence. “Maybe he knows I exist, but he chose to abandon me?” she wondered
In an effort to comfort Julian, Annalise filled his plate with food and said softly. “Eat
more, okay?”
Bam!
Seeing that, Tony slammed his fork on the table and scolded Annalise, “You can suck
up to him all you want, but the Parks family will never accept a woman like you! Well,
unless Julian gives up his status as an heir to the Parks family and leaves the Parks

family voluntarily.
Hearing that, Annalise instinctively wanted to let go of Julian’s hand. “That sounds
serious!” she thought. However, Julian held her hand tighter and stared at Tony
mockingly. “Perhaps you should only say that when you’re the Parks family’s decisionmaker.”
“You!” Tony was fuming with rage again.
Julian then took some food for Annalise and said gently, “Eat.”
Annalise heaved a sigh of relief when she found out that Tony wasn’t in charge of the
family and that he couldn’t chase Julian out, even if he wanted to. “I can’t possibly
cause him to lose his status in the family over a fake marriage,” she mused to herself.
Right then, Abigail suddenly shot Kent a meaningful look.
Seeing that, Kent immediately held up his glass and said, “Here, let’s have a toast.
Since it’s such a rare occasion to have everyone having dinner here, let’s drink. It
doesn’t matter if you’re having wine or not, but let’s have a toast. I’d like to thank all of
you for coming over for a simple dinner. Please forgive us if the food isn’t up to
expectations.”
“You’re too polite,” Tony said.
When they were on the journey from the airport, Alexander had told Tony about Abigail.
Hence, he knew a bit about her. Although she was from a less prosperous place like
Horington, she was rather capable. Not only was she pretty, but she also had amazing
medical skills for a person her age. Besides, she also had her own fashion brand, and it
was quite well-received by the younger generation.
Since Horington had less opportunity for development, he believed that once she’d
been introduced as a daughter-in-law of the Parks family, she’d be able to accomplish
great things in Jadeborough.
Everyone raised their glasses after Kent had spoken.
Since Julian wasn’t in a good mood, he finished his glass of wine in one go.
Abigail was thrilled when she saw Julian finishing his whole glass of wine. “Later, the
housekeeper is going to take him to the guest room. I’ll head inside once the drugs start
to kick in. After he has hooked up with me, I’ll just tell everyone I’ve gone in to bring him
water, but he took advantage of me. How am I capable of defending myself if he were to
come on to me?” she mused to herself.
A few minutes later, Julian suddenly felt like the room was spinning. He then took a

glance at his glass and immediately knew something was wrong. His heart skipped a
beat, and he exclaimed inwardly. “I’ve been too careless! Could it be Tony?”
Julian then leaned toward Annalise and whispered in her ear, “Get me out of here!”
Annalise could feel his hot breath on her ear when he spoke. The ambiguous feeling
made Annalise’s heart
race.
Immediately after that, he shoved his car key into her hand.
With the key in her hand, Annalise got up and wanted to help Julian up.
Tony got angry and slammed his fork on the table again. “Can’t you guys behave
yourselves? Why are you acting so inappropriately in front of others? Don’t you guys
know shame?”
Annalise had no time to respond to that because she could feel Julian breathing
heavier. She helped him up and was about to leave.
“What’s wrong? Is he not feeling well? Quickly bring Julian to rest in the guest room,
Anna. I bet he drank too fast,” Kent said.
“Get me out of here. Bring me to the hospital!” Julian whispered in Annalise’s ear again.
At that moment, he could feel how strong the drugs were, and he was about to lose
control of himself. “If this goes on, I’m going to lose control soon. I need to get to the
hospital immediately,” he thought.
Abigail was afraid that Annalise would send Julian to the hospital, so she shot Kent
another meaningful look.
Seeing that, Kent instantly let go of his fork and rushed toward Julian to hold him.
“What’s the matter? He can’t even stand up straight! Quick! Get him to rest in the guest
room. Anna, I’ll help you bring him there.”
