Chapter 101
Chapter 101 Taking Preston’s Pulse
“Did they reconcile again?”
“So, what’s the truth?”
“Are they really more than business partners?”
Could it be that Julian and Lianne were actually a couple but broke up for some reason? Julian went to Horington in a bad mood
and happened to meet her and married her?
Initially, Annalise thought that Julian had married her to take revenge on Abigail. Now, she felt that he had married her to provoke
Lianne to reconcile with him.
“No, I shouldn’t let my imagination run wild.”
It was not like her to let her imagination run wild.
She should ask him in person.
If he really loved Lianne and they were just quarrelling, she would grant them their wish.
She would treat it as a dream and return to her own world. She would repeat her previous life and live a simple life. She would
go back to eating three simple meals a day with her teachers.
If that was not the case, she would never easily trust others for their words.
With that thought, she immediately went to take a shower.
Julian returned to his room and waited for a while. Annalise came out after taking a shower.
He looked at her with burning eyes and reached out to her. “Come!”
She was no longer as eager as before.
She smiled slightly and asked, “Did you arrange the time for Ms Barton’s brother’s checkup?”
While she was showering, she thought about it. She had promised him that she would check Ms Blake’s brother’s condition. It
was better to do that first before asking.
Otherwise, if Julian told her that he still loved Lianne, she would not be able to treat her brother’s illness anymore. She was not
that heroic.
“Yes. She called me after she went to the hospital to settle her grandmother’s matters. I have made an appointment with her for
tomorrow morning. We’ll go over after breakfast,” Julian said.
“Alright, then go to sleep. You have to rest well.” Annalise quickly slept to the left and curled up into a ball.
“What’s wrong?” Julian felt that something was wrong with Annalise.
“Nothing!” Annalise’s tone was joyful.
Julian looked at Annalise curling up into a ball. He smiled and thought, “She’s afraid that I would do something to her, isn’t she?”
His smiled helpelessly.
Although he wanted to, he would definitely respect her for such things! Look at how scared she was.
He reached out to touch her head and said gently, “Go to sleep then, wifey. Good night!”
Then, he gently hugged her from behind.
Annalise did not move. She still felt a little uncomfortable.
There were a few times when she wanted to muster up the courage to turn around and ask him if he liked her or Lianne. Was he
and Bai Luoyan a couple or just business partners? What did he and Lianne talk about at the stairs? Why did they look at each
other like that?
In the end, she exhaled gently and took a deep breath. She still wanted to finish what she started and see to Preston’s condition.
The next day.
The two of them rushed to the villa Lianne told them to go to.
This was where Preston lived alone in.
In addition to the two servants who took care of Preston’s meals and daily life, Lianne also hired four twenty-something to
accompany Preston.
They were two men and two women. Lianne hired as many as four people because she wanted to have more people to
supervise each other and so no one would bully Preston.
When they arrived, Lianne’s older brother was squatting in the sandpit in front of the villa, playing with the
sand.
Lianne shouted, “Preston.”
“Lily, you’re here. Come quickly. There’s a pile of ants here. I’m counting ants. Ah, how many have I counted? I forgot again,”
Preston said.
From the moment Annalise saw Preston, she had been observing his every move.
From the way Preston spoke and the way he moved his body, he didn’t look like he had the intelligence of a ten-year-old.
Probably six-year-old, tops.
Because a ten-year-old would not be counting ants.
“Lily, are they your friends?” Preston asked with a smile.
“Yes, Preston, they are my good friends,” Lianne introduced.
Preston tilted his head and looked at Julian. “Why do I seem to remember you?”
Julian said, “That’s good. It means that you’ve improved again. I came to see you six months ago.”
Annalise really did not want to be sensitive, but she seemed to be unable to control herself and began to think too much again.
She thought about half a year ago, did Julian often come to see Lianne? Were he and Lianne a couple half a year ago?
She hated herself for letting her imagination run wild. She reached out and knocked her head.
“What’s wrong? Do you have a headache?” Julian immediately asked with concern when he saw Annalise Barton knocking on
her head.
“No, I forgot a tool,” Annalise said.
He really cared about her, which was precisely why she was more sensitive and upset.
“Ms Blake I’d like to take your brother’s pulse first,” said Annalise.
“Yes, okay, Mrs Parks, please!” Lianne immediately said politely.
Then, she pulled her brother aside and said, “Preston, let’s play a hand-touching game. Later, you touch my hand, and this girl
will touch your hand, okay?”
“Okay, okay!” Preston seemed a little excited.
Annalise looked at Preston again and was even more certain that he did not have the intelligence of a ten-year-old.
Which was fine, she would find out in a while.
They entered the living room.
The servants immediately served tea enthusiastically.
Annalise took Preston’s pulse.
At first, Preston kept fidgeting, but Lianne reminded him, “Preston, we can’t move in this game. Whoever moves loses.”
Hearing this, Preston stopped moving.
Annalise finished taking Preston’s pulse smoothly and said to him, “Can we stick out our tongues? Let’s see whose tongue is
longer.”
“Sure!” Preston instantly stuck out his tongue.
Annalise immediately checked Preston’s tongue.
Preston pointed at Annalise and said, “You didn’t stick out your tongue. Stick out your tongue quickly. If you don’t, how will you
know whose tongue is longer? Stick it out quickly. You can’t cheat.”
Without a choice, Annalise reluctantly stuck out her tongue.
She knew that such patients’ minds would become like a child after their heads or minds were impaired. Their intelligence would
become the same as a child’s, and they also had the seriousness and stubbornness of a child. If she did not cooperate and stick
out her tongue, Preston might really cry.
Seeing Annalise stick out his tongue, Julian burst out laughing. Then, he reached out and patted Annalise’s head.
Annalise felt terrible!
If it was in the past, she would definitely enjoy it when he touched her head like this. She really liked it when he touched her head
and felt especially warm and pampered.
But today, when he was smiling like this and touching her head. It felt like he was patting a puppy.
“Yeah, my tongue is the longest. I win!” Preston was extremely excited.
Lianne looked at Annalise worriedly and asked, “Preston, he’s?”
After dealing with her grandmother’s matter yesterday afternoon, she called Julian to make an appointment this morning.
She had always thought that it was another doctor, but she did not expect it to be Annalise.
He wondered if Annalise’s medical skills were good.
However, since a person as reliable as Julian decided to bring Annalise, she would probably be good.
“His pulse is very normal. It’s very stable and strong. This means that his body is very healthy and he has no physical problems,
Annalise said.
