Two Times the Charm by Mr. Wilson

Chapter 358

Chapter 358
“You’re always fussing over trivial stuff! If you’re so worried, just tell them no more kids! Why create problems out of nothing?
Can’t you see how much Emmett digs Clara?”
Patrick was not getting involved in this chaotic mess. It wasn’t because he was thick or didn’t understand the difference between
a birth mother and a stepmother.
He just reckoned that as long as everyone was happy in the current situation, it should be left as is. He believed his son wasn’t
clueless.
If Clara really was up to no good, his son would sniff it out.
And with all their time spent together, if there were any nasty intentions, Emmett would pick up on it!
!
As a father, Emmett couldn’t possibly be irresponsible about their growing environment.
Patrick hadn’t forcefully stopped Sophia before and had never thought it would stir up such a hornet’s nest. Now, it was too late
to stick his oar in now!
Sophia, covering her face, also felt a twinge of regret, “But... that news about Clara, didn’t you see it? Can we, the Melendez
family, accept a woman like that? What about our dignity?”
Patrick sighed, looking in the direction Emmett had left,
“That’s young folks’ business. We should keep our noses, out of it. If Emmett can stomach it... Then they carry on! We don’t
need to meddle too much. If Emmett can’t handle it, he’ll cut Clara off himself!”
“I reckon Emmett won’t leave Clara! And I can’t let her tarnish our family’s reputation!” Sophia said.
Patrick frowned and pursed his lips, “Still don’t get it, do you? What we need to do now isn’t to control their lives but to take care
of Aiden and Alex with peace of mind. When will you get that?”
Sophia pouted, “After all these years with you, I realize Emmett really takes after you, always playing it by ear. Don’t you get the
importance of long-term planning?”

Patrick replied, “What’s there to worry about? As long as Emmett’s with the one he loves, we should stay out of it!”
“I won’t let Clara in our house again; we just need to pay more attention to Aiden and Alex and let them spend more time with
Leah. They just need some time to adjust.”
“You really don’t know when to quit! I... I’m at a loss for words! Once I find Aiden and Alex, I’m heading to the retirement home;
I’m not comfortable in this house!”
Sophia was taken aback and asked, “You’re actually leaving home because of that woman, Clara? I think you and your son are
both hoodwinked by her!”
Patrick casually turned his head to look at her and said, “I think Clara hasn’t done anything wrong. After marrying into our family,
she’s been good to Aiden and Alex.
“I didn’t see that!”
“Kids don’t lie. If they thought Clara wasn’t good to them, they wouldn’t like her. But look how much they adore her. That shows
Clara’s been good to them.”
“That’s all smoke and mirrors! Clara must’ve planned this all along to butter up the kids first, then once I’m pushing up daisies,
she can claim the Melendez family, fortune without a second thought!”
