Chapter Twenty Nine: Got Something to Hide
Sebastian, noticing their arrival, couldn’t help but acknowledge Isabella’s captivating presence. Despite his past misdeeds against her, she remained an unforgettable figure in his mind. Hastily. concluding his business, Sebastian approached their table directly, “You planned this encounter, didn’t you?”
Isabella retorted sharply, “I could say the same about you.”
Alfred, taken aback by the tension, turned to Isabella. “Madam, should I inform sir to come here?”
“There’s no need,” Isabella replied dismissively. “He’s insignificant.”
Recognizing Alfred as part of Alexander’s household, Sebastian understood the family’s complete acceptance of Isabella. He marveled inwardly at how Isabella had grown more astute and strategic since their separation.
Sebastian couldn’t grasp why Isabella would go to such lengths to get close to his uncle. Was it a ploy for revenge? He warned her, “I suggest you keep your schemes away from me, or you’ll face

Isabella had enough of Sebastian’s repeated accusations. “Do you think everyone is plotting against you? Since I’ve returned, I’ve never approached you; you’re the one who keeps pestering me.”
Sebastian cynically retorted, “Who knows what’s running through your mind? First, you charmed my uncle, then coerced him into selling the villa back to me at an exorbitant price. Quite a move.”
With a disdainful chuckle, Isabella replied, “Your arrogance never ceases to amaze me.”
If you didn’t an

Furious and not bothering to conceal it, Isabella stood up, firmly holding her children’s hands. ” We’re leaving, Alfred.”
Sebastian scoffed in the background, “Running away? Why come here at all if not to seek me out?”
As Isabella rolled her eyes, her thoughts echoed, ‘How did I ever fall for such a man? I was naïve, and it led to so much pain. Now, as I’m moving forward with my life, he keeps resurfacing, always dampening my spirits!‘
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Got something to hide?” Rose taunted, a sly grin on her face. “Hit too close to home, did I?”
Isabella was with her kids and didn’t want to frighten them. She silently picked up her belongings, deciding it was best to leave the scene.
Rose, who was enjoying a shopping day with her long–time best friend, suddenly turned around and saw her son. She was just about to say hello when she caught sight of the woman standing across from him – it was Isabella. Anger flashed in her eyes as she stormed toward them. “Isabella! What are

“Isn’t it obvious? A woman who cheated in her marriage like you… Who else would take you except my son? That’s your plan, Isn’t it?” Rose accused.
Sebastian’s expression turned sour. “Mom, not here, please. Let’s just go home.”
“Home? After everything she’s done to us, don’t we deserve some sort of payback?” Rose was fuming. “You’re divorced now. You should stay away from her!”
“Mom, please, stop causing a scene.”
Sebastian was aware of the whole backstory. Plus, Isabella was now with Alexander, whom he definitely didn’t want to provoke. He attempted to calm his mother, But Rose wasn’t having any of it, continuing her loud rant regardless of the attention they were drawing. In the elegant restaurant, the other diners‘ gazes shifted toward Isabella, their expressions changing as they observed the confrontation.
Rose, fueled by overwhelming anger and frustration, accused Isabella with a trembling voice, “Life has been incredibly hard without my son, hasn’t it? You’re just after his money, that’s why you won’t leave him alone. How can you be so shameless?”
Isabella, feeling a surge of determination and a mix of anger and hurt, asked Alfred to safeguard the kids and then confronted Rose with a resolute slap. Her hand trembled with a combination of adrenaline and a desire to defend herself. “If you don’t know the real story, you shouldn’t spread rumors. Consider this a warning. If you keep this up, it won’t end with just a slap.”
Shocked and taken aback, Rose had never experienced such a confrontation. Her heart pounded in her chest, and her mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions. She had never been hit before, not even by her father. The pain of the slap was not just physical, but deeply emotional. She was appalled to be struck by someone she deemed unworthy.
Sebastian, filled with a mix of protectiveness and anger, immediately rushed to his mother’s defense.

His voice quivered with a combination of disbelief and outrage. “How could
In a dramatic outcry, Rose’s voice cracked as she announced to everyone, tears welling up in her eyes, “Look! This woman had an affair and bore another man’s kids. If I hadn’t exposed her, who knows what she’d do next to lure my son!” The weight of her words hung heavily in the air, a mixture of desperation and a plea for understanding.
Miles, a brave young boy, stood protectively in front of Isabella. ‘You can’t treat my mom like this!‘ In response, Rose shoved Miles, causing the three–year–old to tumble to the floor. ‘This must be the result of your affair, just as clueless as his father.”
Horrified, Isabella rushed to her son’s aid, cradling him protectively. ‘Stop it! How can you attack a child?‘ Fueled by a fierce protective instinct, Isabella stood up, swiftly handed her child to Denise, and confronted Rose with unyielding determination. She firmly restrained Rose, preventing her from

Isabella’s response was resolute. ‘You hurt my son, I won’t let you get away with it.‘ Sebastian- attempted to intervene, but Isabella’s emotions were charged. In a moment of distress, she accidentally struck Sebastian. ‘You’ve lost it, hitting me tool‘ Sebastian cried out in shock Haunted by memories of past conflicts with Rose, Isabella fought against her rising anxiety. “Miles bravely shook his head. ‘No, it doesn’t hurt.‘ Isabella’s gaze hardened. ‘If anything happens to my son, I won’t let you get away with it.‘ Feeling the weight of the onlookers‘ stares, Isabella didn’t bother to explain. Her only thought was to leave with the kids, avoiding any further conflict with Rose and Sebastian. But Rose, relentless and bitter, taunted, ‘You dare attack us over those kids. I’ll make sure you pay for this.” Then try.‘
At that moment, Alexander arrived, taken aback by the scene. He had been out arranging a special ring and planning a peaceful lunch, only to walk into chaos. As Alexander, Rose’s brother–in–law, approached, Rose immediately took the chance to shape the story to her advantage. ‘I’m just disciplining this shameless woman. You should keep your distance from the likes of her, or you’ll end up in trouble. Luckily, we realized her true nature in time and didn’t get deceived further.‘ Alexander’s expression darkened with anger.
