Chapter 4 You Are Filthy

Provocative

I deliberately pondered over his words before rolling my eyes at him. “Thanks for the flattery, but whether I’m provocative or not is none of your concern,” I responded.

At that moment, I recognized Henry’s true, loathsome nature. He had the freedom to frolic outside, while I was expected to stay home, adore him, and make my life revolve around him.

As he was about to get back into the driver’s seat, I suddenly swung the car door open and exited without saying a word, leaving him with a short, “You’re sick.”

Henry was taken aback by my unexpected move. Just as I neared the bar entrance, I heard him shout from behind, “Ramona, have you completely lost your d’mn mind?”

I spun around and laughed coldly, retorting, “Perhaps the former me who fancied you was insane, huh?”

Without Violet, he would never have left me.

Marriage alliances were not a frivolous game. Being calculated, he always knew how to weigh benefits. and drawbacks..

In our marriage, I was drained and had realized my destiny. I definitely didn’t want to endure such heartbreak again.

“I suggest we divorce, Henry,” I stated once more..

“Keep dreaming, Ramona. I wish for you to rue the day you married me,” Henry replied, regaining his icy demeanor and appearing to understand my motives. “If you want to lead separate lives, then so be

response shocked me. Was he so eager to make me regret our marriage that he would even tolerate. infidelity?

“Fine,” I said. Soon he would encounter Violet, and at that point, he would be desperate for a divorce, not considering holding me captive for a lifetime.

In my past life, I caused my own misery. In this life, I refuse to suffer again. Ignoring Henry,

I returned to the bar and continued to drink with Lilly and friends until four in the morning, then went home.

The house I shared with Henry was always cold and empty. Initially, I wanted it to be our exclusive world, maintained only by hourly stall.

Entering the dark house, I was about to switch on the foyer light when hands from the darkness grabbed me.

“Ah!” I screamed, terrified by the intruder in my room. “Help!”

Before I could yell further, a strong hand clamped around my neck, and 1 smelled a familiar fragrance.

It’s Henry!

“Coughrough… Breathing became a struggle. Henry, the lunatic, was wreaking havoc in my home late at night!

“Hen–Coughcough, Henry,” I choked out, “You’re crazy! Ah!”

He released me upon hearing his name, tossing me to the floor.

I coughed violently, stood up, and fumbled for the living room light switch.

Leaning against the wall, I turned on the light and saw Henry standing there, looking sullen.

“Are you upset and decided to take it out on me, Mr. Patterson?” I asked, my voice hoarse, interspersed with coughs.

“Ramona Xanders! Do you know what time it is?” Henry’s expression resembled that of a husband who had been anxiously awaiting his wife’s return. “Do you think that little flesh of yours is enough to entice a man?” He approached me, his fingers skimming along the hem of my V–neck, pausing at my chest.

He hooked his finger, giving him a clear view of my chest pressed against my clothes.

“Ramona, you’re not capable of seducing any man. And you should realize, our marriage is more complex than you believe. If it were to end, the conflicts over interests would be substantial. I don’t have time for a melodrama of love and hate with you. If you can’t bear the loneliness and wish to go out and have fun,” he ignored my earlier words, whispering close to my ear, “make sure to use protection. Any illegitimate child won’t be acknowledged by me.”

Having faced death once, my heart should have been as serene as still water. Yet, impulsively, I raised my hand and slapped Henry hard across his face, leaving my palm stinging.

He slowly turned his head, his gaze menacing and terrifying, as if he could strangle me in the next second.

The slap reopened my wound, making me tremble in pain. The blood, which had stopped, started flowing again.

Henry glanced at my hand, seeming ready to leave.

Watching the blood drip from the bandage, I felt content with my life with Henry up to that point. Until Violet came into the picture, I would’ve always been clear about my intention to divorce. By then, Henry wouldn’t need to take extreme actions against me.

Surprisingly, he didn’t leave right away. Instead, he fetched the first–aid kit and, holding my hand, sat with me on the couch.

Had it not been for my knowledge of Henry’s cruelty from my past life, I might have fallen for him

then.

“What’s this, Mr. Patterson? Scared of divorce, worried about your assets, and now playing nice?” I let

“For the first time, I see such harshness from you,” Henry mocked. “I thought you were all about love.”

1 fell silent, realizing my sudden change might have alerted him.

We remained quiet until he finished bandaging. He then looked into my eyes, saying. “If you want a divorce just because I haven’t been a good husband, wouldn’t mind satisfying you once a month.”

Clearly, in his view, I was a woman with insatiable degres..

After he finished his words, one hand tugged at my V–neck halter black dress, while the other slipped. inside my undergarments, finding a sensitive spot.

“Henry, you’re filthy,” I said, despite my body involuntarily responding to his touch, maintaining a frosty demeanor.

Abruptly, Henry stopped and swiftly exited our house, leaving me to exhale in relief.

He vanished once more, his presence noted in the entertainment news, among socialites, nightclubs, and at work, but I no longer cared. My focus was on the half–month remaining before Henry‘ encounter with Violet,

During this time. I frequently visited Dawn Quixote, silently observing Violet at work over black coffee. Her every expression, every smile, was etched in my memory

I thought to myself that if I were a man, I might also be captivated by her.

“Violet, your boyfriend’s here to see you!” a colleague called out to Violet.

In my previous life, Violet had already broken up with her ex–boyfriend by the time I learned of her existence. It was challenging to gather information about her, especially about her past relationship.

The coffee shop door opened, and a young man in a white t–shirt and light blue jeans entered, wearing a white baseball cap and carrying a pizza box, exuding a clean and fresh aura.

I was taken aback. Wasn’t this the same young man who had offered to treat my wounds that night?

They seemed deeply in love.

After the blue–clad boyfriend departed, I promptly left and paid the bill.

Before getting into the car, I gestured for Lewis to step out, deciding to drive myself. Seeing Violet’s boyfriend clarified my next course of action

At the traffic light intersection ahead, the young man was waiting. Seizing the opportunity, I accelerated and stopped the car right in front of him.

“Hello!”

He looked momentarily puzzled, then smiled as if recognizing something. “What a coincidence, Beautiful,” he said.

“Since I’m free, where do you need to go? I can drive you,” I offered, knowing the appeal of a beautiful

“Thanks, but I should return to school. There’s a bus right there,” he politely refused.

“What’s the matter? Don’t you want to be friends?” Seeing his demeanor soften, I said, “Consider it a thank you for helping me that night. Otherwise, I might have been trampled.”

The young man agreed and hopped into the passenger seat of my car.

At that moment, I realized the devious plan I had been nurturing was beginning to take shape.
