True Luna: The Darkness Within: Chapter 6
Logan POV
“Daddy!” I heard my daughter’s adorable voice behind me.
I turned around and a huge grin spread across my face. My little girl was running toward me, with her little arms reaching up in the air. She was like a little penguin, and I wasn’t sure if she could be more adorable than she already was.
“Oh, my princess,” I said as I picked her up in my arms.
She wrapped her tiny arms and legs around me as hard as she could. I buried my nose into her hair and breathed in her baby scent. I would surely miss it once it was gone.
“I don’t want to wash my hair, Daddy,” my little girl complained, making me chuckle.
She was scared to wash her hair and trying to bathe her was an ongoing war between us and her.
“Come on, princess,” I said as I kissed the tip of her nose. “Daddy will braid it for you once it is nice and clean.”
She pouted, making me chuckle again. I had to stop myself from grinning. I would do anything for my little girl. I would let her walk around with dirty hair if that would have made her happy, but I knew I couldn’t do that.
“I want two braids, Daddy,” she said, lifting her little hand and showing me three fingers instead of two.
I chuckled and nodded.
“Okay, my baby,” I said as I kissed her cheek. “You will get two braids after mommy and I wash your hair.”
“Sophia!” I heard Emma’s voice just as I finished talking.
She is with me. I mind-linked her.
I looked back at my daughter and smiled at her. She was adorable and I loved her so much it hurt. I kissed her cheek again and placed my hand on the top of her head, pressing her closer to me. She leaned her head on my shoulder and snuggled closer to me. My heart exploded with all the love I had for her.
My mate walked in and smiled when she saw us.
“Sophie,” Emma called her as he approached us. “Are you hiding?”
Sophia chuckled and buried her head into my neck.
Emma and I both grinned.
“I will tickle you, little miss,” Emma said, making Sophia scream excitedly.
She turned around and looked at Emma with a huge smile on her face.
“No, Mommy!” Sophia said, laughing hard.
Emma and I both loved how she would laugh even without us actually tickling her. All we had to do was tell her that we would tickle her and it would send her into a fit of laughter.
Emma smiled and took her from my arms, making Sophia laugh even harder.
“Come on, you little munchkin,” Emma said as she kissed Sophia’s cheek. “Your brother is waiting for us.”
“Are you going to braid Lexy’s hair too, Daddy?” Sophia asked as she looked at me over Emma’s shoulder.
“His hair is a bit too short, princess,” I said, smiling at her.
She smiled back at me, making my heart skip a beat. I would never get used to the amount of love I felt for my kids and my mate. It was overwhelming and so freaking beautiful.
“Daddy!” my buddy exclaimed as we walked into the bathroom. “Look!”
He lifted his new toy and showed it to me excitedly.
I smiled and kneeled next to him.
“What is that, bud?” I asked as I ran my fingers through his hair.
“Uncle got it for me,” Alex said. “It’s a fire truck.”
I smiled as I picked him up and kissed his cheek. He leaned his little head on my shoulder and continued playing with his toy.
“Look, Lexy!” Sophia exclaimed, making us both look at her.
She had a rubber duck in her hand and she was showing it to us excitedly.
I smiled and Alex tried to get out of my arms to go to her. I let him down and he ran to his sister. I smiled as I watched them play excitedly.
Thank you for giving me this, my love. I mind-linked my mate. I adore our children and you.
She was making them a bath. She looked up at me and smiled.
We adore you too. She mind-linked me back, making warmth spread through my body.
I felt hands wrap around my waist, pulling me out of my memories.
I turned around and saw my mate.
“I miss my little girl,” I mumbled as I looked back through the window.
I wished that I could pick her up like I did when she was a kid. I wished that she would call me daddy and let me braid her hair again.
“I miss her too,” Emma said, her voice laced with fear and pain.
I took a deep breath and turned around to pull my mate into my arms.
“Where is she, Logan?” Emma cried out. “Where is my child?”
A sob that escaped her lips broke my heart. I buried my nose into her hair and tried to stop the tears from falling down my cheeks.
“I don’t know, baby,” I mumbled. “But I will find her. I promise, my love. I will find our little girl.”
Emma tightened her arms around me and I kissed the top of her head.
“I found a new spell in one of Anna’s books,” Emma mumbled, her voice quiet and raspy. “I want to try it and find her.”
She looked up at me and I caressed her cheek.
Goddess, how much I loved her.
“Is it dangerous?” I asked. “I don’t want you to get hurt, my love.”
A few of the spells she already did were dangerous. They exhausted her and she even fainted one time. I thought that my heart would stop when I saw her fall.
“Nothing that I can’t handle,” she said, giving me a small smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “It’s not a locator spell. It’s a spell that will let me feel if she is okay.”
I furrowed my eyebrows.
“I need to know, Logan,” she said, her voice breaking. “I need to know if my child is okay.”
I gulped and nodded. I needed to know too.
“Okay, my love,” I said as I placed a small kiss on her lips. “But if it gets too dangerous, you need to stop. I can’t lose you.”
It would destroy me. If something happened to Emma, I would be a broken man. I wouldn’t survive it.
“Okay,” she said quietly and leaned her head on my chest.
I kissed the top of her head again and closed my eyes.
“When will you do it?” I asked as I rubbed her back gently.
“Now,” she mumbled. “I wanted to see you first. I needed you.”
“Oh, love,” I said as I tightened my arms around her. “I am here. I will always be here.”
I breathed in her scent and let it calm me down a little. I hoped that she would find out if our little girl was okay. I hoped that the spell would work and that we would know something. Not knowing where my daughter was and if she was okay was driving me crazy. I needed to know something. I needed to find my baby.
