True Luna: The Darkness Within: Chapter 29
Alexander’s POV
‘Axel…,’ I spoke to my wolf, but he interrupted me.
‘I already told her to talk to you,’ he said, making me sigh in relief.
For some reason, Axel could talk to Stella whenever he wanted to. I couldn’t. I had to wait for her to talk to me first.
You found a way? I heard Stella’s voice in my head, making me smile a little.
I missed her terribly. I missed my Fia even more.
We did. I told her. We have to find a way to bring you to the surface. You have to take control of Sophia’s body.
Stella was silent for a moment.
Okay. She mumbled. How will that help? I can’t replace her. I am a part of her, but I am not Sophia.
You won’t be replacing her. I said. You will just need to take control so Hunter can mark you.
Stella gasped.
Will that work? She asked. Will that bring Sophia back?
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Goddess, I hoped so. I missed my sister like crazy. I missed my best friend.
I hope so, Stella. I said. I miss her.
Stella whined quietly, making my heart clench. I wished that I could see her, run my fingers through her fur, and tell her that everything would be okay.
I miss her too. Stella mumbled.
I opened my eyes and looked at Hunter. His eyes were already on me.
“Is it Stella?” he asked quietly, making everyone in the room look at him.
He looked terrible and I couldn’t even imagine what he was going through. I still hadn’t met my mate, but just the thought of losing my mate like he lost his, had me seeing red. I couldn’t even imagine the pain he must have felt.
“Yes,” I said, making him gulp. “I told her about the plan.”
Hunter nodded and I focused back on Stella.
Do you have any idea how to take control, Stella? I asked her.
No. She sighed. But I will try whatever I can think of.
Okay. I said. Let me know how it’s going.
I will. Stella said. I love you, Alex. I will be there soon. I promise.
I love you too, Stella. I told her before she cut our link.
I took a deep breath and looked up at my family.
“She will try whatever she can,” I mumbled quietly.
“We need to help her,” Anna said as she approached my mom. “Maybe there is a spell that could help her. Or maybe we could create one.”
My mom nodded, but my dad shook his head.
“Not now,” my dad said sternly. “Emma needs to sleep. Sophia is safe in that room and one of us will be there at all times.”
I agreed with my dad. As much as I wanted to bring Fia back now, I couldn’t let my mom hurt herself. She needed a small break.
“I can rest after I…” My mom spoke, but my dad interrupted her.
“No, Emma,” he said with determination in his voice. “You will end up hurt and you won’t be able to help her then. Nothing will happen if you take a little break. Anna can start without you.”
“Alpha Logan is right, Luna,” Hunter spoke, his voice quiet and raspy. “I need you to bring my mate back to me. If you hurt yourself, you won’t be able to do that.”
My mom sighed, stood up, and approached Hunter slowly. My heart broke watching her. She looked like she was about to pass out.
Hunter’s mom stood up so my mom could sit between Hunter and Alpha Nathan.
Hunter looked at my mom and gave her a small smile. It didn’t reach his eyes, though. He looked like he was about to cry.
“I will bring her back to you, Hunter,” my mom said as she pulled him into a hug. “I promise. I will bring your mate back.”
That was all it took for Hunter to start sobbing quietly. I gulped, trying to stop my own tears. I looked around the room and saw that everyone was trying to do the same.
“And please stop calling me, Luna,” my mom said, as she let Hunter go and smiled at him. “It’s just Emma, okay?”
Hunter wiped his cheeks and gave her a small nod.
“Thank you, Emma,” Hunter mumbled quietly.
I watched as Alpha Nathan reached out and took my mom’s hand in his. I could feel the tension in the room rising rapidly. My own muscles clenched and I was ready to attack.
I knew by now that Alpha Nathan wasn’t going to hurt my mom, but I reacted on instinct. It was my mom and I couldn’t let her get hurt. I had to protect her.
I glanced at my dad and uncle. Both were ready to jump in if needed.
My mom remained calm. She squeezed Alpha Nathan’s hand and gave him a small smile.
“Thank you for your kindness, Emma,” Alpha Nathan said. “Thank you for taking care of my son.”
My mom’s smile grew. “There is no need to thank me, Nathan. Hunter is a part of my family now, and I will always take care of him.”
My heart grew. My mom was an amazing woman.
“Okay, you need to go lay down,” my dad said as he approached my mom.
She let Nathan’s hand go and stood up. My dad wrapped an arm around her shoulders and I saw him visibly relax.
“I will start researching, Emma,” Anna said, making me look at her. “I will try to come up with a spell.”
“Thank you, Anna,” my mom said softly as she and my dad started walking away.
I looked at Hunter and took a deep breath.
“Do you want to go see her?” I asked, making him look at me.
He nodded and stood up immediately.
“Remember,” Anna said, making us both look at her. “Don’t show it your fear. It feeds off of it.”
Hunter flinched. I clenched my jaw and nodded.
It wasn’t possible for me to show it my fear because I wasn’t afraid. We found a way to bring my Fia back, and that gave me all the courage I needed.
