True Luna: The Darkness Within (The White Wolf Series Book 5)

True Luna: The Darkness Within: Chapter 16

Alexander’s POV

I was pissed as fuck at Axel.

‘I still can’t believe you suggested that,’ I said angrily. ‘I am not locking my sister up!’

‘I told you that I am against it too,’ Axel sighed. ‘It will kill me, but Stella said it would be necessary.’

I disagreed completely. We would find another way. I would find another way.

“We need to make sure that she is comfortable,” Daisy’s voice made me look up at her. “We can’t just lock her up in a cell.”

“Of course not,” my dad growled. “She is my daughter. I am not locking her up in a cell.”

I clenched my fists. “How about not locking her up at all? How about finding another solution?”

“This is just a precaution, buddy,” my dad said. “We won’t put her in that room if we don’t have to. We won’t put her in there if we find another solution.”

I was afraid that they’d given up on finding another solution. I was afraid that they would just put her in there.

“All of this is your fault,” Hunter mumbled, making me look up at him.

I followed his angry gaze and realized that he was looking at my mom. A wave of anger washed over me.

“If you didn’t force her to push the darkness away, she would have learned how to handle it!” Hunter yelled and pointed a finger at my mom. “If you didn’t force her to push it away, she wouldn’t be hurt and kidnapped right now!”

I saw fucking red!

I growled and jumped toward Hunter. I grabbed him by the neck and smashed his body against the wall. He tried to fight me, but I was bigger and stronger.

“Don’t you ever speak to my mother like that!” I screamed at him.

I felt hands trying to pull me away from Hunter, but I wouldn’t budge. I was going to kill the fucker. No one could speak to my mom like that. No one!

“Alex, honey, it’s okay,” I heard my mom’s voice.

I turned around and realized that she was standing right behind me. She gave me a small smile and I loosened my hold on Hunter’s neck.

“Apologize to my mom, right the fuck now,” I growled as I looked back at him.

He had an angry look on his face.

“He is right, Alex,” my mom said, making me look back at her.

My eyes widened. My hold on his neck tightened. My dad, uncle, and Mason growled.

“It is not your fault that fucker took her!” my uncle said angrily.

“Emma…,” my dad spoke, but my mom interrupted him.

“If we found a way to deal with her darkness instead of pushing it back, she would know what to expect,” my mom said as she looked back at Hunter. “The darkness wouldn’t do this much damage.”

I tightened my jaw.

“That fucking darkness was killing her,” I said, my voice breaking. “There was nothing we could have done. We did the best we could.”

I looked at Hunter and narrowed my eyes at him.

“You have no right to talk to my mom like that,” I said quietly. “You have no fucking idea how fucking scared we were each and every time the darkness tried to come out. You have no fucking idea how terrified we were watching it take her life slowly. You don’t know what we’ve been through and you don’t know how hard my mom fought to find a solution.”

Hunter tried to gulp. He looked at my mom and I saw regret in his eyes.

“Maybe there was something else we could have done,” I added, making him look back at me. “Maybe there was another solution. But don’t you dare point a finger at my mom and blame her. All she’s ever done was love us. She did everything to protect us and I am not going to let you talk to her like that.”

The room was silent after I finished talking.

I am so fucking proud of you. My dad mind-linked me.

I moved my hand from Hunter’s neck. He closed his eyes and gulped.

“I am so sorry,” he spoke quietly. “Alex is right. I am just so scared and angry and I took it out on you, Luna. Please accept my apology.”

“It’s okay, Hunter,” my mom said, making him look up at her.

I turned around and looked at my dad. He had an angry look on his face, but when his eyes found mine I could tell how proud he was of me.

“How about we stop pointing fingers and figure out how to secure a room for her?” Hunter’s mom said, looking at her son disapprovingly.

Hunter sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.

“I understand that you are scared, but this is the first and the last time you spoke to my mom like that,” I said, making him look at me. “I will squeeze harder next time.”

“There won’t be a next time,” Hunter said.

I was just about to threaten him some more when Stella’s voice interrupted me.

Alex? She called me and I could hear the sadness in her voice.

Stella? I mind-linked her immediately. Is everything okay?

Hunter noticed a change on my face. He grabbed my arm and squeezed it.

“Is it Stella?” he asked, making everyone look at me.

I nodded and focused on her.

I found a way to listen to what was going on around her. Stella said, making my heart race.

Did you hear anything important? I asked.

She is stronger by the minute. Stella said worriedly. I don’t think that Alpha Nathan’s father knows what to do with her. He didn’t count on her being so powerful. He keeps her chained and the witches keep putting spells on chains to stop her magic, but she is breaking them off one by one.

I was proud of her. I wanted her to break through those fucking chains and escape.

Alpha Nathan’s father told her that he would find her weakness and make her help him get his revenge. Stella continued. She told him that she doesn’t have a weakness.

What about Hunter? I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. A wolf’s mate is their biggest weakness.

Stella was silent for a few seconds.

She doesn’t care about him anymore. Stella said and a quiet whine escaped her. She doesn’t care about anyone anymore, Alex.

My heart stopped beating.

I hope that you are working on that room, Alex. Stella said quietly. She will eventually break the chains and she will kill them all. We will need to stop her before she hurts anyone else.
