Traveller Manifesto

By Rob Shackleford

Traveller Manifesto is the third of my Traveller series.

I didn’t set out to write a trilogy. My first novel, Traveller Inceptio, is a stand-alone book, but those who read it reviewed it very well and asked about a sequel. That meant more research and, thankfully, Traveller Probo and Traveller Manifesto have emerged from the muddy waters of my mind.

In this process, I am always grateful for those who offer support, especially my honey, Deb, my kids Kyle and Bree, and my parents who constantly admonish if my characters swear too much.

I am also deeply grateful for the efforts of Historians in their endless research into the civilisations and events of the past.

While I never claim to be a historical scholar of any authority, in my research I endeavour to present as accurate a representation of the peoples who become subjects of the Traveller novels. That means the people of the present as well as the past. As this is a work of fiction, any gaps have been filled by my imagination and any errors are mine alone. There are, of course, topics some might consider to be controversial and perfect for informed discussion.

Though my sources are legion, there are three resources for which I give humble thanks:

Wikipedia – always my first research go-to

“Jerusalem, the Biography” by Simon Sebag Montefiore. 2011 Published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson. London.

“Ghost Empire” by Richard Fidler. 2016 Published by Harper Collins. Sydney.

These resources fell into my hands when I needed them most and were invaluable.

Rob Shackleford is also author of:

Traveller Inceptio – Book One of the Traveller Series

Traveller Probo – Book Two of the Traveller Series

Acknowledgements:

I am always thankful for those who encourage my writing and give the support any writer and author needs.

As always, I am grateful for my parents, John and Patricia Shackleford who still read my novels and tell me there is too much swearing.

My friend Mike Stilman who has been a proof reader and enormous fan and encouragement.

My children, Kyle and Bree who are creative in music and art and always give me the emotional support I need.

Claire Plaisted, my guide through the complicated and confusing maze that is modern publishing.

Most important is my lovely lady and partner in life, Deb Mackay, who is the quietly encouraging and loving guide, muse and companion in my research, our travel, and who is also my first-line editor.
