Chapter 269
Letta and Freya gazed at Marco, who had now changed into suitable clothing for going to the vineyard. Although his pants were a bit short, Letta couldn't help but think that whatever Marco wore always seemed to suit him. Perhaps it was because of his handsome face, which made Freya smile.
"Isn't uncle looking funny?" she said, causing Letta to shake her head.
"Is my appearance that bad?" Marco asked, realizing that Freya was laughing at him, but he just shook his head. "Not bad, just that uncle looks funny in those pants," he said, making Marco smile.
"Alright, then I'm ready to help with your grape harvest today. What's my task?" Marco asked, making Letta and Freya smile at each other before taking some tools and handing them to Marco.
"So, your main task is just to follow us. Later you'll know what I do at the vineyard," Letta said, and Marco finally followed Letta and Freya's footsteps. Occasionally, Marco looked at Freya, who was chatting with her mother. Sometimes Freya laughed, sometimes she looked like she was whining, until Letta told her to put down all the tools she had previously given to Marco.
"Look, this is how you harvest," Letta said, then began to show how to cut the grapes and choose the ripe ones. "Remember, don't touch these grapes. We can't harvest these yet because the color is not right. Look for the ones that are red like this," Letta explained, making Marco nod.
"And one more thing, don't touch this part," Letta said, making Marco pay attention to how his wife explained it carefully.
"Do you think I can do it until here?" Letta asked.
"Of course, that's very easy," Marco said, then began to do what Letta had just shown. Letta could tell that there was nothing Marco couldn't do once he was taught. Besides, this was just picking grapes, everything would be easy. "Alright, then you can harvest the ones on this side, I'll take the ones on that side," Letta said, making Marco reach out his hand and pull Letta's hand when she was about to move away from him.
"Why don't we harvest them together? Wouldn't it be faster?" Marco said, making Letta shake her head.
"Actually, to finish quickly, we need to divide the tasks. You're on this side, I'm on that side," Letta said, making Marco shake his head.
"No, it's better if we do it together. That way, if I make a mistake, you can immediately correct me. Wouldn't that save time, right, Freya?" Marco said, making Freya, who had been busy with her doll, just nod without knowing what her parents were talking about in front of her, making Letta sigh.
"Alright, then, but remember not to fool around and not to be lazy, because I want to finish before sunset," Letta said, making Marco nod. They then started picking the grapes one by one and storing them in the baskets provided. Once the basket was full, Marco would move it to the storage shed before Letta moved it to the city.
"The sun is getting hotter," Marco said after a few hours. He tried to refrain from chatting with Letta, as she would surely ignore him and not respond in the slightest.
"Of course, it's getting late. That's why we have to hurry," Letta said without looking at Marco in the slightest. Marco looked at Letta with sweat dampening his face. "Well then, you rest. I'll take care of it," Marco said, finally making Letta glance at him for a moment before shaking her head.
"No, we'll do it together. Besides, this is actually my job. You should rest. You must be tired and not used to this kind of work," Letta said, making Marco shake his head.
"Are you underestimating me? I can even do it twice as fast. You rely on me. Don't believe me? You can rest and give me an hour, I can take care of it from here," Marco said, making Letta look at him with raised eyebrows. Letta didn't not believe that Marco could do what he said, she just didn't want to delegate her tasks to someone else.
"No, thank you. I believe what you say. You can do it. But I still want to keep picking, and I'm afraid you'll make a mistake," Letta said, making Marco about to respond again when Letta chose to move away from him. "Sweetie, sit under that tree over there. The sun is getting hotter. I've prepared your favorite drink and some fruits and snacks," Letta said, making Freya immediately look at the big tree where she usually took shelter. "Aren't you tired, mom?" Freya asked, making Letta shake her head.
"I catch up later. I'll accompany uncle first. You go there quickly. Look, your face is already red," Letta said, finally making Freya nod. After that, Freya walked to where Letta had prepared her provisions. Letta then returned to Marco's side and picked the remaining grapes.
"Where did you learn to grow these grapes?" Marco asked, still focused on the grapes in front of him.
"I learned it from the internet. I learned from the people around here," Letta replied casually.
"Why did you decide to make a vineyard?" Marco asked again.
"Because this is the only thing that can be planted in this vast land. Besides, the care is not too difficult, and I'm sure I can do it. For the past 2 years, I have been building it from scratch. And of course, there are people who have helped me, so I didn't have much trouble with other things," Letta answered, making Marco fall silent. Of course, one of them must be Abian, who helped her.
"Then, with that man, why is he still by your side?" Marco asked, causing Letta's movements to halt.
"Don't you know? He must still have hope for you, right?" Marco guessed again, making Letta sigh deeply.
"Abian is just worried about our well-being. He just can't leave us. That's all. Besides, he also said he wouldn't go abroad again to pursue his hobby, so he chose to settle here," Letta said, making Marco nod his head.
"That's what I meant. He must have a strong reason to stay here. I heard that he had some good opportunities if he continued his career," Marco said, making Letta finally look at him.
"Are you indirectly trying to find out about Abian?" Letta asked, making Marco nod his head.
"When I was looking for you, I also got information about Abian, and indirectly got some personal information. I felt more and more that he doesn't give up easily," Marco said. After that, he picked up the full basket of grapes and took it to the warehouse, making Letta look at his upright back. Letta didn't know how to respond to Marco's question about Abian. Somehow, the situation was reversed when she was with Abian. Marco must have been the subject of discussion, and now with Marco, Abian became the subject, making Letta unsure of what was going on in the minds of the two men who might want to hurt each other.
"Rest with Freya. I'll catch up in a few minutes. It's just a little more. Poor Freya is alone there," Marco said, seeing Letta seemingly forcing herself. He saw sweat drenching the side of her face and her reddened face. Marco couldn't force Letta to continue harvesting her grapes.
"I'm a man. You can rely on me. Even though you want Abian to do it, but sorry, that man is currently lying sick. And you have no other choice but to rely on yourself," Marco said, making Letta finally sigh deeply. Letta also had no choice but to refuse him, as Marco would surely continue to persuade and force her.
"Okay then, please help, and remember you have to rest and meet me and Freya there soon," Letta said, opening her gloves and putting down the scissors she had used earlier. Letta slowly walked over to Freya, who was snacking and drinking her favorite drink.
"How is it, refreshing, isn't it?" Letta asked before sitting right beside her daughter, making Freya nod.
"Why didn't Mom bring Uncle?" Freya said with her mouth full of snacks.
"Uncle insisted on finishing his work first, then he'll catch up," Letta said, making Freya look at the bright sky.
"The sun is scorching. Will he be okay?" Freya asked again, making Letta smile while pinching Freya's cheek playfully.
"Of course, don't you see how big Uncle's body is? He can definitely be relied on. He's strong," Letta said, making Freya smile.
"Yes, just like Uncle said. He's a superhero, the world's savior," Freya said, making Letta chuckle.
"Is that his nickname?" Letta asked, making Freya nod.
"Yes, and Uncle becomes the White Horse Prince, and you're his daughter," Freya said, making Letta truly unaware that the two men would come up with such a fairy tale.
"In your opinion, who is more powerful, the prince or the superhero? Because earlier, Uncle asked me who was more powerful between the two, but I couldn't answer," Freya said, making Letta seem to be thinking the same as herself when pressed like that.
It was difficult to be caught between two stubborn men, Letta thought, who finally just smiled in response to Freya's words.
"Don't think too much about it. Sometimes Uncle and Marco act more childish than you, So you just need to smile to respond to it," Letta said, making Freya nod while continuing to eat her snacks.
