Chapter 212
Marco then escorted Letta to one of the seats that had been set up for them to enjoy tonight's event with the dishes laid out in front of them.
"It seems the party organizer is quite good, as they've provided the dessert that my wife enjoys," Marco said, making Letta smile widely.
"Yes, at least at this party, I can enjoy this sweet treat to my heart's content," Letta replied, reaching out her hand and tasting the melting cake in front of her. The next moment, her eyes lit up and settled on her husband. "Be careful eating that. I might lose control like this," Marco said, reaching out his hand and stroking the corner of Letta's lips, which had gotten some chocolate on them, before licking his own thumb.
"Forgive me, I didn't intend to tease you," Letta said, returning to her dish, while Marco let his wife enjoy her pleasure. Marco looked around, noticing a few people openly walking towards them, but he chose to ignore them this time. He didn't have much time for small talk with them, preferring to gaze at Letta with a wide smile as he savored the sweet dish. For Marco, that was better than engaging in meaningless conversations with other businessmen. An hour passed, and Letta began to feel full. She leaned in, causing Marco to look at her.
"What's wrong, is there something missing in the dish? I can call the server to get it for you," Marco said, making Letta shake her head.
"No, I think I need to go to the restroom for a moment," Letta said, prompting Marco to get up from his seat.
"Okay, then I'll escort you," Marco said, causing Letta to nod. However, in the midst of the crowd, Marco suddenly stopped when Mr. Tukal brought someone who made Marco furrow his brow.
"T've been looking for you. There's someone I want to introduce to you, and you seem to like them," Mr. Tukal said, making Marco look at the person next to him. Marco felt like he had seen the person before, while Letta seemed unable to bear something squeezing her stomach. Eventually, Letta tried to pull Marco's wrist.
"You go ahead and talk to them first. I really can't stand it anymore. I can ask the servers for the direction to the restroom," Letta said, making Marco about to respond when Letta shook her head.
"I can't stand it anymore, besides, it seems like they are someone important," Letta said. After that, she turned around without listening to Marco's words first. Marco immediately looked at Letta walking away, then approached a waiter who escorted her. Finally, he could focus his attention ahead. Who was the person Mr. Tukal wanted to introduce, Marco wondered, and then began conversing with them.
While Letta headed straight to the restroom and thanked the attendant, instructing them to return to work, she knew the way back to the party's ballroom. Letta tried to solve her issue in the restroom, until a few minutes later, she found herself staring at the large mirror in front of her. Luckily, her makeup was intact, as Letta had indulged in so much food that her stomach felt full. Letta then exited the restroom, attempting to find the perfume she had brought in her handbag. However, due to her carelessness and not paying attention, Letta suddenly bumped into someone, causing her handbag to fall.
"I apologize," someone said, also bending down to pick up some of the scattered items in front of them.
"It's okay, I should be the one apologizing for being so focused on my belongings," Letta said. She then looked up at a man who was now looking at her, but Letta furrowed her brow when the man gazed at her with teary eyes. "I'm sorry, did I hurt you, maybe injure you?" Letta asked again, but the man didn't even flinch.
"I truly apologize. Besides" Letta hadn't even finished her sentence when the man suddenly pulled her into his embrace, causing Letta to widen her eyes. Letta could feel the man's heart beating rapidly, but she quickly regained her composure and pushed the man away with all her strength.
"What are you doing? You're being so rude," Letta said angrily, making the man not even change his expression. Letta could see his sorrowful gaze, maybe even on the verge of tears as he looked at her. Was there something wrong with her face, Letta wondered.
"Letta," the man said, making Letta widen her eyes.
"Who are you?" Letta asked again, making the man furrow his brow.
"Are you really Letta?" the man asked again to make sure, as he truly saw the figure of Letta in front of him, but it felt unfamiliar. Letta, whom he had never met even after they had said they wanted to end their relationship. Letta looked puzzled, remaining silent as the man held her shoulder.
"Do you recognize me?" Letta asked, making the man go quiet, as if the breath he had been holding was finally released. The man then lowered his face to Letta's shoulder.
"Thank you," he said, making Letta still remain silent. Letta didn't know what was happening to her at that moment.
"Thank you for being okay all this time," he said again, making Letta finally push the man away, releasing his grip on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand what you've been saying. I'm asking, do you know...?" Letta asked, as if confirming whether he was one of the people she had forgotten in her past. Perhaps by asking this person, Letta could find out about her life before she met Marco.

"Yes, I know you very well," he said again, leaving Letta silent. But Letta also couldn't easily trust people, especially since Marco had warned her to be cautious of the people around her. Letta didn't want the events in Chicago to repeat themselves because she trusted a stranger.
"What's the proof that you know...?" Letta asked, wanting to make sure and silence the person. The man seemed confused as well because Letta didn't recognize him. The man seemed to feel both relief and curiosity at the same time upon seeing Letta standing in front of him.
"You have a mole on the right side of your back, and you also have a mole on the left side of your waist, don't you? That proves that I know you much more intimately. I know a lot about you, maybe even more than your husband does," the man said, making Letta inexplicably feel something, but she couldn't predict what she felt when looking at the man in front of her.
"Who are you really? How can you know me that well?" Letta asked, making the man fall silent again.
"I'm the more curious one here. What actually happened to you that you don't recognize me? Did our memories together become so bad that you truly forgot them?" the man said, making Letta blink. "What are you saying?" Letta asked again.
"So many questions are now on your mind. I also have many questions that I've been keeping for you. But seeing you doing well like this, I feel like I don't need to focus too much on all the contents of my heart. I truly feel relieved just by
seeing you live well like this," the man said, making Letta inexplicably feel like her breath was getting heavier. Letta felt as if someone was trying to stab her heart. She didn't know who the man in front of her was, who could make her react like this.
