Chapter 179
Marco immediately tried to contact his home phone number while sitting beside his still critically ill father. Despite the challenging situation, Marco attempted to maintain composure, knowing that many people depended on him: thousands of employees in his company, his father, his mother, and Letta along with their unborn child. All these responsibilities pressured Marco to resolve everything quickly to prevent any adverse consequences. He pondered until the call connected, and he inquired about his wife's whereabouts.
"Where is Letta?" Marco asked as the phone connection was established. No response on the other end left Marco staring at his phone screen.
"Hello, Desi, can you hear me?" Marco questioned again, encountering only silence.
"I miss you." In that moment, Marco felt his heart racing, warmth flooding his chest just from hearing the soft, faint voice on the other side.
"Are you okay there?" Letta asked, stirring emotions in Marco that he couldn't contain. Marco thought he could be strong, but it seemed he might crumble if he didn't hold Letta right now. He felt on the verge of madness just hearing his wife's distant voice.
"Can I surrender?" Marco said, causing Letta to fall silent.
"I want to do everything, do my best for you and our unborn child. I want to preserve everything I have and what Daddy fought for, but it's all really heavy. Problems keep coming, and I seem to be tired." Marco confessed, beginning to acknowledge his feelings to his wife. Despite trying to appear strong and forcing himself to be resilient, hearing Letta's soft voice seemed to break down all the ego within him.
"You can take a moment to rest. Don't push yourself. Everything will be okay; you will handle it well, and you will reclaim what is currently being attempted to be taken away by those around you," Letta said, rendering Marco silent.
"If only our distance were close, I really want to hug you right now. I want to lean on you and inhale your scent," Marco expressed, conveying his current emotions to Letta.
"What happened?" Letta asked, prompting Marco to exhale deeply.
"I've taught a lesson to those who stabbed me in the back, but it seems they're also targeting Daddy. He's currently lying due to a heart attack, still unable to pass through the critical phase," Marco explained.
"Forgive me for not being by your side in your toughest moments," Letta apologized, causing Marco to shake his head.
"Just hearing your voice is immensely helpful for me. You just need to take care of yourself there. I will handle things well here. I will resolve everything and ensure Daddy recovers as usual. I apologize for complaining at the beginning of our conversation," Marco said, once again roughly rubbing his face.

"No, you're free to complain. You're free to feel tired, and you're also free to feel like you want to quit this situation, but only momentarily. Many depend on you. You have to be strong, a resilient Marco Jovanka who can handle everything, and I believe in that. I trust you. I wish the best for you," Letta said again, making Marco nod.
"Yes, I will do it. I will do it for all of you. Maybe I just need a moment to rest my body, but just hearing your voice makes me crumble and want to be close to you again, near you. That's all I want, but I also don't want to just sit idly without any strength to hold onto when I'm with you. I want to protect with all the strength I have. That's the only thing I can do to take care of you," Marco said, making Letta smile.
"Don't worry too much about me here. I'm living well, eating regularly, taking care of the house, reading books, watering plants, and I'm trying to plant a mango tree. I'll take care of that tree until it bears fruit," Letta said, sharing her daily life with Marco. Listening to such small talk made Marco's heart feel calm for a moment, temporarily forgetting the problems weighing on his shoulders. Likewise, when he recounted what he had been through, the challenges draining his mind and energy. However, there was one thing Marco didn't tell Letta - about Helena's plans - as it seemed insignificant to him, knowing he would handle things in his own way.
"Isn't it already night there? Why are you still awake?" Marco asked, glancing at his wristwatch.
"I waited for you all day when our call kept disconnecting suddenly. I truly felt that something was wrong. I had a bad feeling about it. I waited for you to call back," Letta said, making Marco feel guilty again.
"I'm sorry for earlier. While waiting for your response, Pedro suddenly said that Daddy is in the same country as me and is being treated in the hospital. That's why I haven't had a chance to tell you everything and went straight here," Marco explained.
"Yes, I know. I hope Daddy gets through his critical phase soon, and everything can return to normal," Letta expressed.
"With the spirit you've given me, it seems I can rise again. I will resolve everything quickly. I'm sorry for not being able to return as promised. I still can't predict when I'll be able to come back to you," Marco said.
"No need to rush. Do it well so no more mistakes arise. Although I miss you dearly, I want you to focus on what you need to do right now. I don't want to distract you from your responsibilities," Letta said, causing Marco to nod. "Okay, I'll get everything done soon. I apologize if it might be difficult to reach me. But one message, you have to take care of yourself. Don't listen to any news that might come out about me and my family. Just trust me; just trust my fight that will come back to you," Marco said, leaving Letta silent. Letta couldn't predict what would happen in the future, but as Marco said, she would only trust her husband.
"Yes, I will only trust you. I'll wait for you here in our big house with our unborn child. I hope you come back soon because the due date seems to be approaching. I want everything to be finished when I struggle with our unborn child, and you can be by my side," Letta said, making Marco silent before nodding.
"Yes, that motivates me. Imagining how there will be a little angel among us makes me continue to fight for our happiness and others. Just wait for me patiently there," Marco said, then decided to end the call. Marco wanted to keep talking to his wife, but if he did that, he wouldn't be able to think about what he had to do next.
