Trapped I can't escape from the Billionaire

Chapter 171

With bandages still wrapped around his body, Marco truly went to check what chaos Pedro actually meant.

"So, explain everything," Marco said, now seated in his large chair, prompting Pedro to hurry. After that, Pedro showed the flat screen in front of him to Marco.

"We seem to have underestimated Jacob," Pedro said, making Marco furrow his brow after seeing the numbers and graphs on the screen. "He took all our investors in Chicago; that fatigue in my gut was a sign," Marco clenched his jaw. "How could we not know anything about something this crucial?" Marco asked, making Pedro only lower his head.

"They really kept quiet and made decisions unilaterally," Pedro said, causing Marco to slam the table in front of him.

"This project is already 50% complete. How could they withdraw from it? What did that scoundrel offer?" Marco asked, and Pedro then showed him the files Marco needed to examine. After that, Marco took a long breath and looked at Pedro. "What about Daddy? Does he know?" Marco asked, making Pedro once again remain silent for a moment.

"It seems Mr. Edward will find out soon too," Pedro replied, making Marco just sigh deeply.

"In that case, make sure everything stops there, and I will start handling it from scratch," Marco said, making Pedro look at his master with a worried expression.

"But, Sir, your condition," Pedro spoke again.

"I'm fine and immediately scheduled my flight to meet all the investors. I want to see how convincing that scoundrel's offer is. I don't understand what he's thinking to go against me," Marco said before getting up from his seat. Marco immediately entered his beloved black car. Marco didn't expect to be this busy again with Jacob's antics. He might have to deal with all the investors who withdrew from his project, which was already almost 50% complete.

"We're going back home first," Marco said, making his driver nod, then drove the car. Marco didn't know how to explain to Letta. They had just arrived two days ago, but Marco already had to leave again, leaving his wife behind. Letta's current condition also didn't allow her to accompany him on this business trip because Marco truly had no time to be with her later. Until finally, the black car stopped at the large house, making Marco quickly enter.

"Where's Letta?" Marco asked one of the servants he passed by.

"Madam is in the garden, watering the flowers, Sir," the servant replied, prompting Marco to rush to their garden. There, Marco fell silent seeing Letta, with her blossoming smile, gazing at the blooming flowers as she watered them gently. Somehow, the tightness Marco felt earlier seemed to ease a bit, though it couldn't calm Marco completely because the news he had to give Letta would undoubtedly make his wife worry about him again.

"You're home already?" Letta interrupted Marco's thoughts.

"I thought it would take longer, but it turns out only took an hour," Letta said, making Marco finally try to force a smile.

"What are you doing?" Marco asked, making Letta look back at the flowers behind her.

"I'm watering the plants because I thought I'd get bored, so I chose to take a walk in the garden. And Desi suggested for me to look at these flower plants," Letta said, making Marco finally pull Letta into his embrace. "Why?" Letta asked when Marco suddenly hugged her tightly.

"Let's be like this for a moment. I want to savor your scent; I like it," Marco said, kissing the nape of Letta's neck. After that, he closed his eyes, while Letta only reciprocated the hug from her husband. For a while, they stayed silent, embracing each other, before Marco eventually loosened his embrace.

"All right, then, let's go inside," Marco said, making Letta stop her movement.

"I think it's better if we just sit outside in this garden, on those chairs. Look, Desi has brought fruits and juice for us," Letta said, finally making Marco nod, then helped Letta sit in the garden chair. Marco sat right in front of Letta. "What fruit do you want? I'll peel it for you," Letta said, making Marco shake his head.

"No, let me do it. You want an apple, right?" Marco asked while taking an apple from Letta's hand, making Letta stay silent, watching her husband's movements.

"So, there is a significant problem, isn't there?" Letta asked again.

"Not too big, but I have to handle it myself," Marco said, continuously peeling the fruit, making Letta just nod.

"So, how is it? Have you taken care of everything?" Letta asked again, making Marco pause. It seemed like Letta also saw the uncertainty in her husband's eyes, so Letta reached out and gently stroked Marco's hand. "Tell me, maybe I can't help, but at least you can feel a little relieved by talking about it," Letta said again, making Marco finally exhale deeply.

"Somebody has been messing with my project in Chicago. All the investors withdrew, even though the project is almost 50% complete. I have to meet them, have a re-meeting, and maybe catch the fool who messed with me," Marco said again, making Letta fall silent.

"That means you're going on a business trip?" Letta asked, making Marco pause for a moment before nodding with a serious expression.

"Yes, I know we just returned, but this is a problem beyond my plans. I have to handle it one by one, have a re-meeting, and address the issues that person has caused recklessly. I have no other choice, especially Daddy is likely to find out about this soon," Marco said, making Letta look at the perfectly peeled apple in Marco's hands.

"And then?" Letta asked again, without looking at Marco.

"I can't take you with me right now, especially since your condition is still weak. Plus, we've only been here for a few days. The doctor will probably advise against too much travel, especially by plane," Marco said, making Letta feel a bit sad hearing about the problem in her husband's office. Marco seems really busy being away from her.

"In that case, go ahead," Letta finally said, making Marco look into his wife's eyes.

"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine here. Desi and the other servants will keep me company. Well, at least I won't be bored, and you can handle all your problems without hindrance there. As usual, you just need to instruct the guards to watch over me here, that's enough for me," Letta said, making Marco fall silent. His wife's response was truly unexpected for Marco. Marco thought maybe Letta would whine and insist on him staying by her side, especially with her current state and the fact that her body hadn't fully recovered. However, Letta seemed to be offering a bit of support and understanding about all the problems Marco faced.

"I won't stop you, and I won't complain about not going with you because I know that a problem this big has already become a burden for you. So, I don't want to inconvenience you," Letta said, making Marco reach out, gently caressing her face. "Thank you," Marco said, and Letta responded with a sweet and reassuring smile.
