Transparent Color's

Chapter 28

I’m flying through the air, just like my dream. My waist is being squeezed tighter, and tighter. I want to scream, but my throat won’t let me. Tears leave my eyes and run down my face into the cool air. I see the factory approaching, I stop in mid-air above the roof. As I look down, I see a hole opening up. Once it is all the way open I am sucked through then jolted to a stop in the air above the floor, I let out my breath. Once I do I feel the latch that was holding me let go and I slam to the floor.

My eyes go blurry and my head feels too heavy to lift, so I lay there for a moment. I then faintly hear two thuds hit the ground next to me, it must be Jo-Shana and Vichor, I can only hope. My head is throbbing, but I try to lift it anyway. I hear a murmur, and then it comes in clearer.

“Hello Magolin. We have been waiting for you.” The Majestic says, in his pleasant but devious voice.

I bring my head up to see him sitting in a golden chair with red velvet coverings. I look to my right to see Jo-Shana and Vichor struggling to get up as well. I put the pain aside, and put my game face on. When I stand to my feet, my eyes do not leave the Majestic’s. He gives me a smile that sickens my stomach, and then stands up as well. He starts walking swiftly towards me. His now grey eyes locked onto mine.

He speaks, “Well, it looks like you bumped your head…” he circles around me, “hmm, yes, that’s not looking good at all, you should probably get it checked.”

His sarcastic tone irritates me, but I hold my composure. He stops in front of me again, a little closer this time.

“So you and your friends thought you can fool me? Did you really think you could enter my City without me knowing?” he starts to laugh, “My girl I thought you were smarter than that. Apparently I was wrong about that…hmm… well, then again I already knew from the first night, when you asked about Maliki that you were a dumb girl. A complete waste of a dance, in every opinion. … Oh by the way he’s here, I didn’t kill him …yet.” He motions his hand and two guards drag a motionless Maliki; his bloody- beaten body is flung to the ground. I freeze.

I give a silent gasp, but I do not lose my composure. I swallow down my cries and speak steadily, “Where is Toby?”

“Toby my boy! Yes he is here, and doing quite well I might add. He’s what you call a new man.” He gives me a devilish smile.

“Can I see this ‘new man’?” I say with an unusually tense voice.

“Whoa there!” He starts laughing, “That rage does not suit you my dear. Don’t worry I wouldn’t dream of disposing you without you seeing my masterpiece first. How selfish do you think I am?”

He looks to his right, “Jeffery, go get Master Toby. And you can follow me over here.” He motions his head for me to come. I watch the guards pick up Maliki and walk away with him. I then look down at Jo-Shana and Vichor; they are stuck on the ground, unable to get up.

I gather he is watching me looking at them, he says, “Very well.” He moves his hand like brushing something aside. I look back at them and they are released, now able to get up.

I grab on to Jo-Shana and Vichor’s arms and we go following behind him. He leads us to the other side of the factory where the Hover Craft is and all the flying weapons. There is another chair, so he goes and sits down. His eyes look up to the Hover Craft, which makes mine look as well. Nothing was unusual about the craft, but I look further past it and on the huge target are Ora, Oscar, and some of the other men. It looks like they are just glued on, scattered across the wall. But still breathing, thank God they are still breathing. The two guards came up to the target and throw Maliki’s body up there as well. My feet must have a mind of their own, because they move over there in a heartbeat.

Maliki is the closest to the ground, but when I jump I can only touch his feet. I yell angrily, “Get them down! What is wrong with you! You sick, evil man!” tears run down my face as I continue to jump up.

He laughs, “Am I now?” he laughs some more, “Well I guess I can see how some might think that…”

I cut him off, “Some! Everyone thinks it, and if not yet with their covered eyes, they will. One day they will. And they will all rise up against that darkness, just like they did in the past.”

His face turns grim and says coldly, “You should really watch your tongue girl.” His eyes look to the side of me, “Ah, Toby.”

I turn quickly, and see an estranged boy behind me. His emotionless and mute face stares at me. I run up to him and give him a hug. But my arms are not hugging Toby, my cousin, but a stone clone of him. I look at his blank face. I start to cry and shake him, hoping it will shake him back to being my Freckles.

“Toby! Toby! It’s me Maggie! I’m here Toby, come back to me, Please!” I look in his eyes and I see hope, “Toby do you remember your favorite thing …what you told me in the yellow house? Well I’m here Toby you can always trust me.” He blinks then looks towards the Majestic.

“No Toby! He’s not good, he’s tricked you. You’re good Toby, you’re good.” He starts to walk away from me, but I grab on to his mechanical arm to keep him with me.

He yanks his arm away, with an absurd amount of strength, and keeps walking towards the Majestic. I shout for him to come back, but he continues without hesitation. He stands next to the Majestic, and the Majestic puts his hand on his shoulder, like to show me Toby is his.

The Majestic then says, “You see Ms. Collins, you’re too late. There is no stopping it now; it’s already set on play. All I have to do is say go, and he WILL do as I command.”

The Majestic moves his eyes from me and nods his head off to the side. Once he does hundreds of guards come marching in and surround the openings. I instinctively put my hand where the laser shooter would be, but find that I have lost it on my ride here. So my hand moves towards the back where the knives are.

“Ugh, give her some company, so she thinks she has a fighting chance.” Jo-Shana and Vichor are then thrown over to me. He goes on to say, “I was going to be generous and let you watch the show, but I’ve been too generous already, so I’ve now decided to make you the lead role.” A grin crosses his face.

I look at Jo-Shana, he still has his shooter. His mind is back, so he takes it out and readies it. I look to Vichor and his face is of a ghost. I start to see panic in his face, and his eyes are desperate. He starts whimpering and mumbling something to himself. His eyes get big, and look insane. He starts walking slowly to the Majestic pleading for his life.

“I can help you; you know, I am good with a gun. I can serve you; yes I can serve you well. Spare my life your graciousness, Please!” the coward drops to his knees and bows.

I stare at him with shock and disgust. I focus now on the Majestic; he glares at Vichor, and then starts to laugh.

“Why would I need you? Why would I want a traitor of his own people? You don’t even deserve to die with them.” He looks over at one of the guards, and the guard walks over to Vichor. And before Vichor could cry out he is shot in the head. His body falls to the ground.

I was not very fond of Vichor, but he is human and did not deserve to be killed, just like none of us deserve to be. I squeeze the knife that is now in my hand; and ready myself to charge, but then I take a glance at Toby and an expression in his face stops me. Not a forward expression, but softness showed for a second. Is Toby still there? My head starts hurting again, but in a sharper pain. My eyes start to go blurry. I drop the knife that is in my hand, and bring both my hands to my head. I try to squeeze the pain away. With my eyes now shut I breathe in and out, and then open them up again. As soon as I do I fall back to the wall, I see the demon looking creature in my dream standing in the background, behind the Majestic. I feel the air knocked out of me. My hands are back to my head.

I hear the muffle of the Majestic’s voice, “Well let’s not waste any more time, Toby go ahead and get on the Flying Hawk, my son.”

Toby turns and walks to the machine and gets on. He flies the machine in front of us, and readies it. Jo-Shana looks at me, as if to say sorry, then quickly aims his shooter and shoots at Toby and the Majestic. A force field blocks his shots; the force of the field ultimately flings us back to the wall. I hit my head hard and fall to the ground. I try to stay conscious but I can’t help but give in. I rest my head on the ground and before my eyes close, the last thing I see is the back of Toby and fires being shot.

I am out.
