Transparent Color's

Chapter 26

The safe zone is ironically at the supply store. Apparently Mr. Buns has been waiting and is one of us. Not necessarily because he agrees with our reasoning, but for the act of revenge against the Majestic. He passionately expresses how the Majestic cruelly took him off his guest list. And he feels this is quite not tasteful for his liking. I control my laughter, for I don’t want to offend him. After all he is helping us, no matter what the silly reasoning is.

The nine of us sit in the dark store waiting for the others to come. It’s so quiet out there, and absolutely no movements of any kind. What could be taking them so long? My stomach feels nauseous; the waiting is making me sick inside. I’m too antsy to sit, so I pace from wall to wall. My knuckles crack until there is no sound anymore, but I continue the movement. I look at the time, forty- five minutes has gone by.

“Can you please sit down? You’re making me nervous.” Bruce says to me.

“Sorry, but I feel like I’m going to vomit if I sit down. What could be taking them so long?” my voice trembles.

“Their probably fine, it’s just taking them longer than expected to get everyone a key … yeah that’s all.” Jo-Shana says. His voice seemed a little unsure though, he looks out the window.

One of the nine men, Kael, speaks in, “I’m not trying to be doubtful, but what should we do, if they do not show up, we should probably think up some kind of plan, right?”

I stop pacing and turn towards him, my voice shakes with anger now, “They will show up, and why would you even think such a thing!”

Kael just looks at me stunned, along with everyone else. No words are said back; I turn and walk to the other side anyway. I sit on the couch and just stare out the window. My reaction was hardly justifiable, the man said nothing wrong. But yet anger still fills me. Maliki and the others have to come; Toby’s life …and my life depend on it. I turn and look at the clock, ten more minutes has gone by. Almost an hour.

I guess Kael is right we should start planning our next move. I doubt we will be able to get Toby with just the nine of us, so most likely the plan will be how to get out of here. My heart starts sinking, but I stand up anyway and walk over to the other side.

“Sorry for how I acted, my emotions aren’t quite stable. But you are right Kael; we do need to start planning.” I speak in a much kinder tone.

Kael gives a little smile and says, “No worries, princess, it’s better to let it out then keep it in.” We all give a little chuckle, but then stop in silence, like we shouldn’t be laughing.

Vichor breaks the silence, “Alright it’s unfortunate our…” he was really hinting to Maliki, “…plan did not work. But we can figure a way out. Now, due to the absent of the majority, this must mean an alarm was signaled, and the others were found and hopefully only captured. The hidden city probably won’t be a safe way to escape, unluckily.”

He meant to go on but Jo-Shana interrupted, “This is most likely true, but I feel we can still act out the plan. We have our computer tact’s, six trained weapon masters, and the device to get Toby. Why, are we just going to give up?”

“Yes we have to see this through. We can’t let the darkness win,” says Bruce, and the others agree. Vichor stays silent for a moment.

“Do you think we can really do it?” my voice reaches with hope.

Vichor’s moment of silence is over and he says, “Well then if this is what we really want to do, stick to the plan, then we need to have it organized for the nine of us, and …we are going to need more weapons. The flying hawk…”

“You already know we cannot get the flying hawk! And to break into those factories will be our deaths right there. They are heavily armed with security, even more so than the Majestic’s mansion.” says Jo-Shana.

“Since I’m in charge, you…” Vichor forces but is cut off again.

“Yes we know since you were second in command, you are now in charge, but as commander you have to think of everyone’s wellbeing and not just your selfish wants!” exclaimed Jo-Shana. They are both face to face now.

Ora jumps in, “Settle down the both of you!”

They both sit back down. Tension is filling the room, and you can tell everyone’s nerves are taking a hold of them. I look over at Oscar, and his face is in great thought. I watch him until he finally looks up and speaks.

“Mr. Buns, you know secrets to this city. Is there any way to get into the mansion, without being seen?”

Mr. Buns’ expression is of shock, from what Oscar just conveyed to him. He clears his throat and raises his nose up in the air and says, “Well of course.”

“Wonderful, you will help us, right? Mr. Buns?” I say in a solemn voice.

Mr. Buns tries to look at me with his nose up, but then gives in and lowers his head to me. He clears his throat again and answers.

“Have you heard of the sky ramp? … Hmm well I see from your expression, the answer is no, so I will explain. There are hidden sky ramps all across this city. As we speak, there are guards walking around in the sky watching the city. If you get up there you can go where ever you wish without being seen. That is if you take down the guards up there first. There should be two to a ramp, and there are about fifty ramps…. Make sure not to be noticed, because if you are then the whole lot will be on you instantly. Like ants on a morsel.”

“Sounds impossible,” I say putting my hands to my mouth.

“Difficult yes, but not impossible. The ramps hang up there by some kind of electric force. You say you have computer whizzes amongst you, well let’s see how skilled they are. If you tap into the system, you can somehow reverse the electric current and send a shock wave down each ramp. The ramps might jolt down a bit, but it shouldn’t fall if you switch it quickly enough. Therefore, that’s how you eliminate all the ants.” He starts to giggle.

Mr. Buns giggling is cut short, by Vichor, “Ok but how do we get up there?” His eyes are intrigued.

“There are portals throughout the city. Only at secure sites of course.” He says with pride, but then becomes serious, “You know this store was once considered to be a prestigious place, and myself a well-known man amongst the high crowd. I was given my very own portal, for security reasons naturally, but a couple of months ago I give a little chuckle at something the Majestic obviously did not find funny, and I became black listed. My portal has been turned off, but anything that was once working can be restored.” He breathes out with a smile.

I jump up and say, “Well what are we waiting for? Time is wasting!”

“Yes, yes follow me.” Mr. Buns says now cheerful again.

I don’t understand his cheerfulness, there’s nothing cheery about the whole situation. I stand up and look out the window one last time, hoping to see Maliki, but nothing. If I can just see him again, I would hold him. I begin to see Ora’s reflection on the glass standing next to me. She grabs my hand, and we turn to follow the others.
