Torn Between Love and Hate

Chapter 256

Chapter 256 When Pretense Becomes Reality (Extra)

When we arrived at the hospital, it was just a little past eight in the morning.

Before undergoing an induced abortion surgery, it is necessary to fast for more than six

hours.

Evelyn got up in the morning without eating anything and went straight to the hospital.

Deborah helped her get admitted to the hospital, then went on to have her blood drawn, as well as undergo an ultrasound and an electrocardiogram.

Everything proceeded according to the standard surgical procedure.

By around ten in the morning, the results of all the inspection items were out.

The gynecologist in charge of the surgery is Zayne's colleague and college classmate, and is also well-acquainted with Deborah.

After the check-up was completed and everything was prepared, the medical staff wheeled Evelyn into the operating room.

The duration of the induced abortion surgery is quite short, and Deborah waits outside.

After waiting for a short while, Adrian hurriedly walked over from the end of the

corridor.

He approached, annoyed, and said, "Why didn't you answer the phone? It's bad enough that you took my car, but I couldn't even get in touch with you."

He wasn't really trying to get in touch with Deborah, but since Deborah mentioned she was going to see Evelyn, he couldn't help but worry about Evelyn.

Just a moment ago, the housekeeper informed him that Deborah would be

accompanying Evelyn to the hospital, and asked the housekeeper to bring Louis back to

Moxley Manor.

Adrian felt uneasy, suspecting that it was probably a check-up for the baby. He immediately rushed over in a hurry.

Deborah reached into her pocket and felt around, but it was empty.

She looked up and replied, "I had to leave in a hurry with Evelyn, so I probably left my

phone at her house."

Adrian let out an "oh" and glanced around.

"Where's my wife? Weren't you coming here together with her?"

Deborah nodded, "Mhm."

Adrian was getting anxious, the feeling of unease in his heart grew even stronger.

"Where is she? What are you doing sitting here?"

Upon second thought, he realized that this was the entrance to the operating room. Indeed, there weren't many seats available in the hospital today due to the large number of people.

Deborah tilted her head and lifted her chin, gesturing toward the operating room beside

her.

"Inside, I'll wait for her to come out."

Adrian suddenly froze, but quickly regained his composure, his expression turning

serious in an instant.

"What does it mean? How could she be in there?"

Before Deborah could respond, the door to the operating room swung open.

The doctor wheeled Evelyn out on the gurney, emerging from the room.

Adrian saw the person on the bed, Evelyn's face was pale and her expression was dazed.

The doctor began, "The surgery went very smoothly. We administered anesthesia to Ms. Moore before the procedure, and she's still a bit groggy as the effects are just wearing off. After resting for about half an hour in the ward, she should be back to normal."

Deborah nodded, "Alright, thank you, Doctor."

Adrian stood still for quite a while before suddenly snapping back to reality.

In an instant, he felt as if he had been plunged into an icehouse, his emotions spiraling out of control. He stepped forward and forcefully grabbed the doctor's arm.

"What do you mean? What have you done to my wife?"

The doctor didn't understand what he said, looking puzzled. He turned to Deborah and

asked, "Who is this?"

Adrian's veins were prominently visible on the back of his hand, and his temples were

throbbing intensely.

He lost control and grabbed the doctor's collar directly, "I'm asking you, my wife is still pregnant, what have you done?"

Deborah stepped forward to intervene, "Let's discuss this in the patient's room. The doctor is just following procedures; it has nothing to do with them personally."

The doctor, sensing something was amiss, spoke up to clarify, "Sir, Ms. Moor herself. signed the consent form requesting the induced abortion surgery.

The surgery is now complete. If there's anything, please try to stay calm. She just finished the surgery, and it's not suitable for her to experience significant emotional

fluctuations."

Evelyn glanced sideways, her expression somewhat awkward as she looked at Adrian.

She wasn't just pretending to have just finished surgery; at this moment, she was genuinely a bit lost in thought.

After spending a year with Adrian and acting together for a year, some habits and emotions had already begun to form unconsciously.

Even after that night, she forced herself to forget everything.

Adrian's eyes were blazing red, and he gritted his teeth in anger, exclaiming, "I didn't sign anything! How dare you take away my child!"

As the commotion began, it quickly attracted the attention of many people. A crowd soon gathered, standing not far away to watch the scene.

Deborah had a cold expression on her face as she argued with Adrian, "If Evelyn doesn't want it, then she doesn't want it. She has the right to make her own decisions, and she doesn't need your signature, especially since you two aren't even married."

Adrian was almost driven mad, "We're not married, but the child is mine too, it's ours together."

Deborah's voice lowered, but her words were devoid of any sympathy. "How dare you,

Adrian? What kind of audacity do you have? Can an assailant really demand that they must sign off before allowing the victim to terminate the pregnancy?"

Adrian's face stiffened.

Deborah reached out and pushed him away, taking Evelyn to the hospital room to rest.

After a while, Adrian came back in.

His face was pale and defeated as he stood at the foot of the bed, looking at the lying there.

person

"Debby, could you step out for a moment? I'd like to have a private chat with Evelyn."

Deborah brought in some warm water and wiped Evelyn's face while responding, "The child is already gone, what else do you want to talk about? She doesn't need your apology, and it seems you're not in a position to question her either."

Adrian stared at the person on the bed, still unable to believe it.

Yesterday, Deborah drove off in her car, saying she was going to see Evelyn, which put

his mind at ease.

Because he believed that Deborah would never let Evelyn have an abortion, and even if she did, she would definitely inform him.

But now, as he hurried over, they told him that the child was already gone.

Impossible, how could it be so fast?

Suddenly, he took a few steps toward Evelyn and reached out to lift the blanket covering

her.

The moment his hand touched the blanket, Evelyn immediately tightened her grip on it, her eyes coldly staring at him.

For a moment, Adrian felt as if he had experienced an illusion.

When did Evelyn ever look at him with such eyes?

They had known each other for so long, and she had always been lively and outgoing. Whenever she was with him, she would always be playful and full of smiles.

Even the day after that night, he lied to her, saying that he too had drunk too much.

She didn't do much about it, just continued acting with him and kept on being

happy-go-lucky.

She knew everything, yet said nothing.

Up until now, she had been looking at him with such a gaze.

It was as if all the pent-up disgust and hatred had been poured into his eyes at this very

moment.

Adrian met her gaze, and subconsciously flustered, he quickly looked away.

Evelyn's voice was cold as she said, "You can leave now, I've already miscarried the

child. Whatever you want to do, I'll comply."

Adrian stood still, as if he was frozen in place.

Deborah said coldly, "Do you understand? Now, get out."

Adrian felt as if his heart was losing its weight, constantly sinking downward.

'He had a feeling that things were over between him and Evelyn.

Or rather, they were already finished.

It's just that she has always been concealing her true feelings, creating an illusion for him that their relationship is getting better and better, and soon it will naturally develop into something genuine.

He felt anxious and looked at the person on the bed, "Honey, I, we..."

"I'm not," Evelyn interrupted him.

He didn't leave, so she simply closed her eyes and turned her body away from him.
