Chapter 1248 Call It Even
The moment Leonard arrived at Bardoff Hospital, he was sent straight into the operating room.
In the past few days, he had been tortured by that group of kidnappers. He was injured all over-he was lucky to still be alive.
When Jenny and Stephanie rushed to the operating room, Alec was there too. Since Paul was also in the hospital, Alec arrived earlier.
"What's his situation?" Jenny asked worriedly. She was afraid that something would happen to Leonard. After all, Stephanie had already decided to marry him. It would be cruel if anything happened to him
now.
Alec shot her a reassuring look and said, "He's badly wounded, but they're not life-threatening. He'll be alright after a few days' worth of rest."
Jenny and Stephanie both sighed in relief.
Alec didn't let it go just yet. He looked at Stephanie coldly. "Miss Walker, Leonard's surgery will take a while. Why don't you visit Paul and apologize to him in the meantime?"
Jenny said nothing. She and Alec were clear about this. Although they were boyfriend and girlfriend, they would not interfere when their friends had done something wrong. If Alec wanted Stephanie to apologize, Jenny would not object to it.
Unfortunately, Stephanie didn't care. "Apologize? Over my dead body."
"If you don't, Paul can press charges against you for assaulting him. You'd better think twice about it," Alec warned.
But they all knew that it wouldn't happen. If Paul did that, Jenny wouldn't just sit back and let it happen.
Stephanie hadn't considered that. She said, "The harm that he caused me is far more than that stab. And have I made him apologize to me?"
"He's apologized before..."
"And what's the use? Can it make everything he did disappear?" Stephanie growled. She wasn't going against Alec. She was merely stating a fact.
Alec wanted to say more, but Jenny shook her head. "Fine. If Paul wants to press charges against Stephanie, he can try."
She would support Stephanie no matter what.
Alec was exasperated. How could he let Paul press on the matter when Jenny had already said that?
On top of that, Paul hadn't wanted to press charge. He just wanted Stephanie to apologize. After all, she was in the wrong.
Thank goodness that stab wasn't life-threatening. If it were edged in a little deeper, Paul would be a lifeless corpse by now. Thus, Alec was upset at Stephanie. She'd nearly killed his best friend. Stephanie went toward the operating room, ignoring Alec.
Alec was upset. Jenny assured him, "This is Stephanie's fault. But Paul has indeed hurt her a lot before. They can call it even now."
"Even?" Alec frowned.
"Yeah. Didn't Paul want Stephanie to let go of the past? Just tell him that Stephanie is going to let it go. From now onward, they won't owe anything to each other," Jenny said. Then, she looked at Stephanie, who was by the operating room's door. "Do you object to that?"
"No. It'd be nice to call it even. But only if he never shows up again." That would mean that they would be strangers.
Jenny nodded and looked at Alec. "You can tell Paul what we just said. He should get what it means."
And he would not press charges against Stephanie for her actions.
