Chapter 1241 Distracted by Your Handsomeness
"Well, at that time, I accompanied Alec to study abroad because we were not much different in age. Alec didn't treat me as a subordinate as well, so I got to know Quinn through him. I don't know how she found out I returned to the Wardleys, but she contacted me and asked about Alec's situation," Anthony said.
Jenny's heart sank. Why was Quinn asking about Alec's situation? Did she hope to get back together with him? That wasn't impossible, seeing as the current Alec was no longer the foolish youth he was back in college.
"I only contacted her once, and she hasn't contacted me since then. I don't know where she is now, but I always get the feeling that she must have come back to look for Alec, so I'm giving you a reminder beforehand," Anthony said as he stood up to leave.
Jenny watched him leave, lost in thought. She'd never met Quinn, but it wasn't the first time she had heard the woman's name. She thought that she and Quinn were fated to meet sooner or later. Sighing, she felt a little annoyed for no reason. She couldn't say anything to Alec. After all, Quinn hadn't come to see him yet. If she vented her anger at him without reason, she would be the one at fault. She sat in the cafe, contemplating what Anthony had just told her. Outside the door, Anthony had already gotten into a car.
"Why did you bother telling Jenny about Quinn?" Faye asked as he got in the car.
"We're leaving soon and won't be able to do anything much. But if Alec and Jenny think their happy-ever-after awaits them, they're sorely mistaken," Anthony sneered.
Quinn did come to find him, but she never asked about Alec. He said that on purpose. He knew he wouldn't have a chance to get his revenge on them, but that didn't mean he would allow them to live well and peacefully.
"Why bother? We're leaving already." Faye felt helpless. She didn't think it was necessary, and if Alec found out, it might cause more trouble.
Anthony waved his hand dismissively. "Enough, let's go. It's almost time to board."
"Okay." Faye nodded and told the driver to start the car. As they left, she glanced back at Jenny, still sitting in the cafe, feeling a mixture of emotions. After all that she'd been through, she didn't hate Jenny as much anymore.
With Quinn entering the picture, she wondered what Jenny and Alec would have to go through before they could truly be together. But then, none of it had anything to do with her now, and they were unlikely to ever meet again in their respective lifetimes.
"Goodbye, Jenny. Goodbye, Alec," Faye bid goodbye to them in her heart.
At night, Alec came to pick up Jenny from work as usual, but he could tell she wasn't in a good mood right away.
"What's wrong?" Alec asked, feeling a bit worried.
Jenny shook her head and quickly composed herself. "It's nothing, just a minor problem."
"Is it related to work?" Alec asked again.
"Yeah," Jenny replied evasively.
Seeing this, Alec didn't continue to ask her about it. He couldn't intervene in the hospital's matter, and Jenny let him intervene anyway, so he could only give up.
"What do you want to eat tonight?" he asked, changing the topic, hoping to ease her mood.
Jenny glanced at him but ultimately didn't ask any more questions. She would appear unreasonable if she kept probing him.
Had Quinn contacted Alec? Since she'd contacted Anthony, why would she refrain from contacting Alec? Jenny felt it was unlikely.
"Jenny?" Alec frowned, feeling that Jenny's gaze looked a little odd. "What's wrong? Did something happen?"
"It's nothing. I just think you're too handsome and got distracted." Jenny laughed, reassuring herself not to overthink things and to trust Alec. Alec also laughed at her words. "You always flatter me."
