To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)

Chapter 1201 I Don't Know What You're Talking About

A loud slap echoed in the room. It threw Pete off his balance, and he fell to the ground.

Eric was truly ruthless in his attack, so much so that Pete, a grown man, was left dizzy and disoriented.

"Pete! Where is she?" Eric was losing his mind. He stared intensely at Pete as if he wouldn't hesitate to kill him if his answer was unsatisfactory.

Unfortunately, harsh threats didn't work well on Pete. Initially, he felt guilty about collaborating with Jenny against his father. However, the slap erased all feelings of guilt. He wondered if Eric truly regarded him as his son. Given the way he was acting, Pete was probably nothing more than a dog he raised. Hence, his feelings of guilt completely disappeared. "I genuinely don't understand what you're talking about." Despite the blood trickling from his mouth, he spoke sincerely, which made Eric suspicious.

"You don't know that the woman upstairs isn't Lynette?" Eric asked.

Feigning shock, Pete answered, "How is that possible? She is obviously Lynette."

Eric didn't say anything, nor did he take any further action. Upon careful consideration, if he hadn't spent so much time with Lynette, perhaps he wouldn't have recognized her immediately.

"You really can't tell that she is a fake?" Eric looked at him skeptically, his gaze fixed on Pete as he tried to see through him.

Unfortunately, Pete had long mastered the skill of pretending in front of Eric. At this moment, Eric could glean nothing from looking at him.

Eric ordered someone to bring the woman down from upstairs. Brandishing a gun, he aimed it at her, asking. "Tell me. Who are you?"

"I am Lynette," she repeated. She wasn't lying, as that was the only name she remembered.

She didn't remember how she ended up in the Glasses' hands, but she remembered that Jenny had rescued her. So when Jenny asked for her help, even though she had warned her it was dangerous, she agreed without hesitation.

Once she repaid Jenny's favor, she could finally be herself.

Enraged, Eric slapped the woman and shouted, "Where did Jenny take her?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," the woman replied.

Eric threw the woman aside and ordered his subordinates, "Take her away and interrogate her thoroughly, but don't kill her."

Since she had such an uncanny resemblance to Lynette, there might still be some use for her. The woman was taken away, and silence once again filled the living room. Pete put on a mask of surprise throughout so that Eric wouldn't notice anything amiss.

Eric glanced at him and said, "She and Lynette do look somewhat similar, but if you look closely, it's not difficult to distinguish between them."

He was suspicious of Pete.

"Father, you spend every day with Lynette. Of course, you can easily tell them apart. But I can't. So when I saw that woman, I never imagined she wasn't her." Pete had rehearsed those lines countless times in his head, so Eric couldn't get any useful information from him.

Eric still found it a little strange. "What you're saying makes sense. Since that's the case, go and find out where Lynette is. I want to know where she is immediately."

"Alright, I'll investigate it right away." Pete stood up and left the house immediately.
