Chapter Searching For Answers



Thomas’s reputation began to grow with each village he passed. They waited and watched as Thomas entered the town weather worn and exhausted. Thomas made his way to the local inn and bought a hot meal and a bottle of ale. He then payed the Manager for a room, then he asked the legendary question.

“Do you know the name and whereabouts of the Conqueror of Terros.” This time Thomas’s voice was rough and dry like the crackle of a fire and echoed off the small vacant tavern as he spoke to the Innkeeper. The inn keeper shook his head and carefully handed Thomas the key to his room. Exhaustion enveloped Thomas, his head fell with a soft thud as he slept a deep and tormented slumber filled with visions of Terros and Annalise. The legends and rumors of Terros burned deep in his subconscious as Annalise became the victim to Mount Terros’s treacherous terrain. As the nightmare continued Annalise melted away in the burbling magma filled river. As Annalise succumbs to the burning lava, Thomas awoke with a jolt. Thomas bolts out of bed his sinew body covered in hot wet beads of sweat his heart beating thunderously in his chest, at this moment his fear-filled state forces Thomas to decide. The nightmare fueled decision to travel closer to Terros was Thomas’s only escape from the accusing eyes of Annalise, He must find the Conqueror of Terros.

Thomas, The Silent stranger, was seen visiting each town on the road to Terros and with each town and village the rumors of the mysterious stranger blossomed and flew on the wind. As Thomas traversed closer to Terros the legend of the Silent Stranger out ran his every move filling the towns ahead with stories and fear. The fear fueled villagers in some of the bars and inns Thomas visited were less than hospitable. He met up with his share of scapegraces, thieves, and thugs and none would prevail in a encounter with Thomas. With each raging battle Thomas was swiftly victorious. His years of Royal training accompanied by the fierce but beautiful Annalise gave him the speed and edge on his adversaries. With each conquered foe, his thoughts would wander to his days spent sparring with an Angel, Annalise.

Months passed by and soon years. Thomas fought all kinds of foes, from evil merchants, Thieves, and even the random bandit looking for an easy victim. Thomas would swiftly defeat the evil among his journey’s road. Thomas had so much to die for that he was always victorious in his recklessness. The victorious battles brought word throughout the kingdom of the brave silent man. The champion of the people, fighting against the injustice oppressing the abandoned and frail. Thomas forever battled his demons by fighting for the blameless and the destitute. Seeking sanctuary in his deeds, Thomas swore to be the hero that Annalise thought him to be. These noble acts would pay penance for his sins against Annalise and the love he dismissed. Her love for him haunted Thomas like an ever-present whisper. Her lilac scent and flaming sunshine hair forever embedded in the corners of his mind. She watches over him and tortures him with her condemning eyes shimmering with tears as she looms over his every step.

Thomas spoke only a few words his actions heralded a much grander vision filling the scoundrels, degenerates, and filth of the world with dread and Inspiring hope throughout the Kingdom. The word of the Champion of the people fell upon the ears of the Conqueror of Terros. Fate had finally lead Thomas to his destiny.
