Chapter the Wife 9

Chapter 9 A Familiar Face

Mary’sneered, “Sally, one is your son, and the other is a stranger who has nothing to do with you. If you’re not stupid, you know what to choose, right?”

If she unplugged Anna’s oxygen mask, she could get the money for Andy’s treatment!

Sally’s heart pounded wildly.

But soon, she stopped herself from thinking that way.

How could she unplug Anna’s oxygen mask?

Even though she didn’t know Anna well, Anna was still a living person!

Not to mention how much she admired Anna’s work!

Sally knew that if she unplugged Anna’s oxygen mask, Mary might really pay for Andy’s treatment, but Andy would likely bear the stigma of being a “murderer’s son.”

No, that would be too terrible.

Sally couldn’t even imagine how horrifying that would be!

Thinking of this, Sally firmly refused Mary, “You’re heartless. You don’t deserve to live in this world if you can hurt your own mother!”

Mary was quickly enraged by Sally’s words, “You stupid woman, you dare to talk to me like that when you need my help?”

Sally spat, “In your dreams,” and hung up the phone.

She sat by the window for a long time, calming her emotions.

Mary was simply insane; she couldn’t let such a vicious woman use her.

Sally stood up decisively and called the second–hand market to have them come by with a car.

By noon, Sally was at the second–hand market. She haggled with the owner for a long time, but he refused to offer more for her items.

Sally was on the verge of collapse. She said, “Please, I have a very important matter at home. I need a lot of money. Could you please offer a bit more?”

The owner looked conflicted but eventually gave her a little more money.

Sally took the modest amount and walked out of the shop, feeling deeply helpless under the bright sun. She intended to take a taxi to the hospital, but then she saw a familiar face.

No, two familiar faces.

Daniel and Mia!

Why on earth were they together?

Sally didn’t have time to think. She quickly walked up to them.

Mia was the first to notice Sally!

Seeing Sally, Mia’s eyes flickered, but she quickly calmed down and held Daniel’s arm.

Sally had no time for Mia–in fact, she didn’t really want to deal with Mia at all. Her focus was entirely on

Daniell

“Daniel, is it really you?” Sally exclaimed in surprise. “What are you doing here? I’ve been looking for you for so long.”

Sally’s eyes almost welled up with tears.

No one knew how excited she was at that moment.

Back when she desperately wanted to be with Anders, Mary had her kidnapped and locked away, while Victor conspired with her and even attempted to assault her!

Sally fought desperately, which infuriated Victor, and he ended up imprisoning her.

To her surprise, she found someone else there.

Daniel was in poor condition, but Sally, though also in a bad state, tried to comfort him…

Daniel never revealed his identity, only saying that if they managed to escape, they should stay together forever.

Sally never agreed to that; she remained silent.

She wanted to escape, but she never considered being with Daniel forever.

Eventually, Sally was released by Mary, and Daniel disappeared soon after.

Today was their first meeting after years apart.

Sally couldn’t contain her excitement!

However, Daniel looked at her with cold indifference.

Sally was taken aback.

“Daniel, it’s me, Sally,” she explained quickly. “We spent so much time together. You can’t have forgotten me, right?”

Daniel gave Sally a strange look, then turned to Mia.

“Do you know this woman?” Daniel asked.

Mia feigned surprise, “Sally, why aren’t you at home with your child? Why are you here?”

Daniel’s expression grew even stranger upon hearing Sally had a child.

Sally was stunned.

She took a deep breath and looked at Mia, “Mia, why are you with Daniel?”

Daniel quickly said with displeasure, “Why is it any of your business who Mla is with? Get lost and stop. bothering us!”

Sally felt heartbroken.

Why was Daniel acting like he didn’t know her?

What had happened to him?

Suppressing her guilt, Mia yelled, “You crazy woman! Stop meddling! I’m out shopping with my boyfriend. Is that any of your business?”

Boyfriend?

Sally was shocked.

Chapter 9 A Familiar Face

Mia and Daniel were a couple?

How… how could that be?

Mary and Mia were best friends, partners in crime, and Mary and Victor had done so many bad things together. Why would Daniel be with Mia?

Did Daniel not know Mia was Mary’s friend?

Sally couldn’t bear to see Daniel being fooled by Mia–after all, Daniel was such a decent person, and Mia was clearly unworthy of him!

Sally looked at Daniel in pain, “Do you really not remember me?”

Daniel looked at her with disdain, “Who are you? Did I know you before?”

He then looked lovingly at Mia and said, “Angel, let’s go.

What?

Angel?

Hearing that nickname again, Sally felt like she was in a different world.

During their time in captivity, she had taken care of Daniel, and he had called her his angel, even giving her the nickname “Angel.”

But now, Daniel was calling another woman by that name!

Sally felt her heart shatter.

What was going on?

Daniel not only refused to acknowledge her but was calling another woman “Angel!”

Sally felt like her world was collapsing.

That evening, Sally returned home, exhausted. As she turned on the light, she saw a shadow on the sofa. Sally was startled.

In contrast to Sally’s reaction, Anders remained calm.

He glanced at Sally coldly and asked, Where have you been today?”

Sally didn’t want to answer him.

She changed her shoes and headed for the bedroom.

Finally pushed to his limit, Anders marched up to her and forcefully shoved her onto the sofa,
