Chapter 84 Suicide

Mary had hurt Sally many times, both mentally and physically, leaving scars that were hard to heal.

Sally was eager to see how Anders would react to Mary’s huge scandal!

The thought of Anders possibly breaking up with Mary excited Sally.

She was eager to see them turn against each other.

After finishing his work, Anders was about to head home when hist assistant rushed into the office, flustered.

Seeing his usually composed assistant so panicked, Anders‘ face. darkened. “What’s the matter? Why are you so frantic?”

The assistant stammered, “Boss, something has happened to Miss Mary!”

Anders frowned. “What happened to her?”

The assistant handed his phone to Anders. “A video of Miss Mary has surfaced online.”

Anders looked puzzled as he stared at the phone.

Seeing Mary in bed with Victor made Anders‘ eyes widen!

“Is this video real?” Anders asked with a grim expression.

“Yes,” the assistant confirmed. “I had it checked by professionals. It’s not an Al face swap; it’s genuinely Victor and Mary. And from the angle, it was clearly filmed intentionally.”

As Anders watched Mary on top of Victor, his face grew darker.

Mary had betrayed him with another man!

Why? Why would she do this?

Thinking about Sally’s betrayal, Anders felt a deep, familiar pain.

He had thought Mary was different from Sally, but it turned out they were the same!

Anders returned the phone to his assistant.

“So, boss… what should we do now?” the assistant asked

hesitantly.

Anders gazed out the window into the night.

“Even she would betray me…” Anders muttered to himself.

The assistant was too scared to speak.

A few minutes later, the assistant’s phone rang.

He glanced at Anders, who signaled him to answer.

After listening to the caller, the assistant told Anders, “Boss, Mary’s assistant said she attempted suicide but was saved and is now in the hospital.“.

Anders didn’t hesitate any longer and quickly left the office.

On the way to the hospital, Anders began to calm down.

He didn’t understand why Mary betrayed him, but he felt some guilt for neglecting her over the past six months.

Fine, Anders thought, considering it as a debt he owed Mary.

After all, when Sally abandoned him, only Mary stayed by his side.

Anders sighed deeply.

Before heading to the hospital, he had considered breaking up with Mary.

Betrayal was the thing he hated most.

But now, as he calmed down, he decided to treat Mary well.

Mary had attempted suicide by cutting her wrists. Fortunately, her assistant found her in time. Despite being weak, Mary finally woke up around noon the next day.

Seeing Anders by her bedside, Mary burst into tears.

“Anders, sob…” Mary cried bitterly.

“Does it still hurt?” Anders asked with concern.

Mary sobbed, “Why did you save me? Anders, sob… I don’t deserve to live. I have no face to continue living. I might as well die!”

Anders gently stroked her hair. “Don’t say that. You won’t die.”

With tearful eyes, Mary looked at Anders and cried, “Anders… I

don’t know how that video got online… The woman in that video isn’t me, really! Someone must have used Al to replace my face. Anders, you have to believe me!”

Anders felt a wave of impatience but softened his tone to comfort Mary. “Don’t worry, dear. I’ll use my resources to handle the online situation. Just focus on getting better.”

Sensitive to Anders‘ unusual tone, Mary asked, “Anders, do you believe the woman in that video is me? Do you really have no trust

in me?”

Anders‘ irritation grew, but he tried not to upset her further.

“Mary, I won’t leave you. Trust me, I’ll deal with all the problems, and this won’t affect you in the future.”

“No-” Mary cried, covering her ears in agony. “It will affect me! Because of that fake video, my reputation is ruined. Anders, do you know? My name is destroyed! I have no future!”

Anders had no choice but to hug her. “Okay, okay, stop crying. The internet moves quickly. Soon, people will forget all about this.”

Mary continued to cry, “I don’t care… They’ll all call me a slut, say I’m a man–chasing woman… Anders, will you leave me?”

Anders replied, “Mary, I’ll always be by your side.”

Hearing his promise, Mary felt a bit relieved.

After fainting at the event last night, Mary was quickly taken back to her private apartment.

Her assistant had been worried sick. After Mary regained consciousness, she devised a plan.

When Mary mentioned suicide, the assistant was shocked, saying it was too risky.

But Mary insisted, “Just make sure someone takes me to the hospital in time! This is the only way to make Anders believe I’m being framed and to make him feel sorry for me.”

The assistant had to comply.

Mary, nestled in Anders‘ arms, felt the pain from her wrist and

discomfort.

But now, her suicide attempt had yielded positive results.

Mary cared about her reputation, but she cared more about Anders

attitude towards her!

She was Anders‘ fiancée, and she couldn’t lose her place in the wealthy family because of that video. All her and her mother’s years of planning would be wasted!

Mary had lived through hard times and didn’t want to return to the slums!

Anders was right; the internet moves quickly, and soon, people would forget what happened.

And she would always be Anders‘ rightful wife!

“Anders, thank you, thank you… I’ve never betrayed you. You have to stand by me.”

Anders agreed verbally, but his mind wandered elsewhere.

For some reason, when Anders found out Mary had betrayed him, he was angry but also felt an unexpected relief.

He even thought, somewhat absurdly, that since Mary cheated, he wouldn’t feel guilty anymore and could pursue Sally without hesitation!

Anders realized he might have no feelings for Mary at all.

The man who once prided himself on being deeply affectionate now found himself capable of such coldness.
