Chapter 6
Chapter 6 The Vicious Maid
In the past, Heaven got infiltrated by spies. For that reason, the hackers there had become extra cautious in befriending each
other.
Although Maria interacted with the others, she didn't really fraternize with any of them.
Except for her old acquaintances in the business, Maria only chatted with Night on rare occasions.
Even then, they only talked about hacking techniques. Any other personal information and anecdotes were off-limit topics for
conversation.
"Would you believe I'm also in Sheffield?"
When another message from Night popped up on her screen, a smile appeared on Maria's face.
"I see. What a coincidence."
In the few instances that Maria engaged in a conversation with Night, it felt as though they had a tacit understanding. They even
had similar chatting styles.
A few seconds later, she checked the time and thought it was time to go back, so she sent him another message.
"Good night."
The two words he received had the handsome man in a wheelchair staring at his phone screen with a smile on his face. He then
deleted the words he had already typed and decided not to reply.
"Why don't we meet sometime? We're both in Sheffield anywa—"
When Maria made it back to the villa, she saw the BMW parked in front of the house and figured that the Jenkins family were
already back.
"Why are you out for so long?"
Lily greeted Maria with a long face, her hands firmly placed on her waist.
Clearly unfinished with her scolding, she snapped, "Everyone is already back from the concert, yet you're still outside hanging
around like those hooligans. This house is governed by rules. Now that you're part of the Jenkins family, you'd better watch your
behavior!"
Even though she made it sound like she was reprimanding Maria for staying out late, Lily was actually pretty peeved that she
failed to inquire about the secret of the noodle recipe.
Since she reckoned that Maria was immune to soft tactics, she decided to intimidate her instead. After all, Maria was still a
teenager. Lily believed she could easily make her cough up the secret recipe.
However, Maria remained calm all this time. She didn't even flinch while being scolded with a loud voice.
"So, taking a walk in the neighborhood makes one a hooligan? What about the people who actually live in this neighborhood
then? What do you call them, huh?"
Hearing this, Lily was rendered speechless.
She thought that Maria would immediately apologize, and that she could easily manipulate her. But she was sorely mistaken.
She didn't expect that the little girl would dare answer back and not be affected at all.
Seeing that Lily was too stunned to say another word, Maria deemed that she was now free to go back to her bedroom.
However, when Maria took a step, Lily suddenly regained her senses. Then, she hurriedly stepped in front of Maria to block her
way. Unexpectedly, she forced a smile.
"Maria... I mean Miss Jenkins. I remembered that I intended to ask you this earlier. How did you cook the noodles that you ate?
You know, I'm the kind of person who likes to study different recipes. So, I was wondering if you could tell me how you did that
dish. Then, the next time you want to eat it again, I can cook it for you instead. What do you think?"
As if she didn't yell at Maria just now and starved her on purpose earlier, Lily acted like they were best buds.
However, Maria would not be swayed by fake smiles and pretty words.
"No, thanks. I can do that by myself." Maria refused without hesitation. Then, without letting Lily answer, she quickly walked past
her and went back to her room.
Seeing how Maria walked out on her, her face turned livid with anger. How dare this new girl turn her down without even thinking
twice?
Maria was merely a girl from the countryside. Was she already acting like an arrogant rich lady on her first day in the Jenkins
family household?
Lily gritted her teeth, thinking that this couldn't go on. Before Maria's head grew even bigger, she had to teach her a lesson and
make her know her place. She had worked as a maid in this rich family for many years now. With a sinister smile, she decided to
let Maria know that living in this household was not going to be a walk in the park.
Early morning the following day, a shrilling scream reverberated from the living room.
"Ah! Where is it? Jadee! Jadee is missing!"
It was time for breakfast when Vivian started shouting in panic.
She was holding her new Louis Vuitton handbag with its zipper open. Her cosmetics, cellphone, facial tissue, and headphones
were all scattered on the coffee table. Apparently, she had taken out everything inside her bag to find something.
Hearing Vivian's loud voice, Bill and Julie couldn't help but rush over at once. They thought that something bad had happened to
their daughter.
"Why are you screaming?" Bill asked with a solemn face, not understanding what was going on.
Lily whispered to him, "Mr. Jenkins, Miss Vivian's favorite jade piece seems to be missing. She had been searching for it all
morning."
"I swear I put Jadee in my bag last night!" Vivian looked so anxious and fuming in anger.
She was incredibly fond of this precious jade piece and always brought it with her every day. Because she liked it very much, she
even gave it a name.
Moreover, Vivian clearly remembered that before going to bed last night, she put Jadee into her signature handbag, which she
left on the sofa in the living room.
After hearing what the commotion was about, Julie's arrogant face frowned.
"Bill, is your daughter talking about the birthday gift you gave to her that you bought at an auction six months ago? The one you
spent over a million dollars on?"
