Chapter 139 " Tickets for the Homecoming"
Avery P.O.V.
After I left my house, I kept walking to school. I have been thinking about that dream I had last night. I don't understand why I dreamed that. But I know the strange voice in my dreams was telling me about my two children and something about my mates. I just wanted to forget it, keep my head down, and walk to school. I don't want any more problems. I need to ignore everybody that wants to hurt and treat me like crap. I don't understand why me.
I never did anything to anybody. So, I thought with a sad expression on my face. By the time I walked around the corner of the school. I saw everyone outside standing around chatting with their group of friends. On the other side, by the football field parking lot, were the jocks and cheerleaders chatting and flirting. But then, the rich and intelligent kids were with Elijah, Jake, Andrew, and Matthew's group. They rule the school in this group. I am in the lower group. It was just me and Ashely, and Natalie. We are the lowest of the low. It's sad how we get treated this way. I shake my head and try not to stare at the guys in my mind and heart for the last three months. I need to stop thinking about them and looking over there at them.
Stop it, Avery! They do not worst it. Remember that. They are not the worst, Avery! My inner voice was telling me. So, I started walking over to the girls. Where we always meet by the school stairs. I started walking toward my friends. I smiled and waved at them. I saw the girls stare over at the popular group. But I knew they didn't like anyone because they treated us. I can't believe how stupid I am. I believed them.
They told me I was so beautiful and wanted me for a long time and all that junk. But I see how they want me, alright, I thought with an eye roll. I walked up to Ashely and Natalie. "Hey girls, how's your morning going?" I ask them. They had a smile on their face. "It's okay." I heard Ashely say. "Yeah, it's okay," I heard Natalie say. I stared at them. Hmm, I thought. I know there is something they are not telling me.
I can tell something is off. But, oh well. We should not let this beat us down. " Okay, classmates, today is the first day to buy your homecoming tickets. So, don't wait too long, or you won't have your tickets and get to dance the night away with your honey," I heard a sweet voice say over the announcer common in the office. Oh God, why!" I heard Ashely say with a pout. Just great, I thought. Yeah, shovel it in our faces that we don't have a date.
Oh, God, I wanted to crawl into a hole. And stay there after the dance is over. " Hey, don't say that." Come on, girls. Let's go and have a good time together. We don't need dates." Natalie says with a sweet smile on her face. Yeah, why not, girls, Let's do it." I say with a smile. "Hell yeah." Count me in too." Ashely says. We started planning to go shopping for a dress and shoes for the dance. We talked about what kind of dress we were going to wear.
Natalie wants a gold and black dress that has a princess skirt. Ashely wants a full-length black dress that has a slight down the leg. I want a red dress with sparkles on it. I want it to be slightly long past my knees. We started getting excited and discussing how we would have fun at the dance. "Okay, girls, before we go to lunch. "We need to go buy the homecoming tickets. Before they run out," Ashely tells us. Nat and I nod our heads. We were not paying attention to what was around us. As a result, we didn't hear the bell ring. Okay, girls, I got to run before I am late again for Science class." "Mrs. Webber has been on my ass lately." Ashely tells me and Natalie. She waved at us. I turn back around at Natalie. She wasn't paying attention to Ashely anymore.
She was staring over at Eli. I saw her face drop while watching him with one of the cheerleading sluts kissing him. "Hey, I said to Natalie. I saw the sadness on her face. He is not worst it," I told her. She looked down, trying to hide the hurt in her eyes. . I knew she was going to cry. But she is trying to hold it in. "Hey, come on. We better get to class," I tell her while grabbing her shoulder. She lifted her head and stared again at Eli and the girl. I saw him staring over at her with a blank expression on his face. He wasn't doing anything but staring at Natalie. It felt like a long time before she looked away.
That was when she turned away from him. Now her back is towards him. "Yeah, your right. We better not be late for class Avery," I heard her say. So, we started walking away and went inside the school. She left and went to her locker, and I went to mine. Once I open up my locker. I got my book for my first-period class. That would be Math. God, I must hurry up before the second bell rings, and I am late for class. I have never been late before without excess, and I had a reason for being late for class. I shut my locker, and I started walking to math class. After my fourth-period class, Art. I waited for the girls to get their stuff ready. So, we went to buy the homecoming tickets next week. Once they were done. We all started heading out the door and walking toward the gym to go buy the tickets.
