Chapter 118 "The Girl Sleepover at the Lake House"
Avery P.O.V.
After that awful day in the hallway with the mean girls and the guys doing nothing to stop them, I feel so low and bad about myself. Then my best friend and cousin came to my aide, grabbed and hugged me, and let me cry in her arms. But after that day, I will no longer let them get me down. I am going to now on have my head hide high from now on.
The Next Day at school...
Today is the day I will stop being a wimp and goodie two shoes. And I am going to go to do something out of character, finally. I will be more like Emilia and Ashely, badass and tough.
I am not going to take any more people's crap. So, I had a proud expression on my face. That was when I opened my car door and got out. Then I closed my car door and started walking inside the school doors that I called my prison. So, I need to go find Emilia and tell her. I accept her invitation to stay at her lake house tonight.
I started walking towards Emilia Stone, my mate's twin sister Jake Stone. I guess I made up my mind. I don't know about the other girls, but I do know I want to go and have some fun.
I am tired of getting laughed at and being the sweet girl; everyone thinks I am the brown nose in the school. So, I am going to let my hair down and have a good time.
"Hey, Emilia, she turned around and stared at me with a straight face. She was wondering what I was going to say.
"Hey, Avery," So, you came here to tell me you're not going to go, huh?" she says with a tiny smile on her face. I licked my lips and was nervous because I was playing with my hands.
"No, actually, it's the opposite of no," I told her with a slight smile on my face.
"So, you're coming tonight, then?" She asked me with hope in her voice.
"Yes, but the girls are still thinking about it." But I can ask them again." I tell her.
"Okay, if they don't want to, I understand." I wasn't the nicest person either." She said with sadness in her voice and regret too.
"Well, okay, I talk to you later, Emilia," I tell her, and I am about to leave for my first class.
"Okay, talk to you later, Avery" See you tonight." I heard her say when I was walking away.
"What do you mean to see you later, I heard Natalie say behind me with a confused expression on her face.
"Oh, hey Nat. when did you get here?" I tell her with shock and jump with my words because I am nervous. Of course, she goes to school, Avery! I rolled my eyes inside my head. I can be so stupid sometimes.
I guess she saw me talking to Emilia.
"Why were you talking to Emilia," She asked me knowingly. She can see right through me.
"Oh, I was telling her that I am going." That I am going to her lake house for a sleepover tonight, she still wants you and Ashely to come." I tell her.
"Maybe you girls could come." It could be fun." Don't you want to have fun occasionally?" I was trying to tell her to come, even begging her to come with me. I was telling her again.
"I don't know, Avery; what if it is a trap?" She says with concern in her voice.
"I am still kind of iffy on this and them and the party/ sleepover." She tells me with worry in her voice.
Maybe she was right, but I didn't listen, and I didn't care except going to that party and having fun for once in my nerdy, boring life.
"But this is our senior year!" Come on, and please go with me."
"Please, pretty please," I am begging her now. I am on my knees almost. I see her face, and it is red because I have embarrassed her by doing it inside the hallway where people can see us. I am on my knees, begging her to go to the Emilia party/sleepover at her lake house tonight.
"Oh, okay,
Oh, Okay! I will you, but please get off the floor." She said, getting frustrated with me.
"You're making a scene." I heard her say with grit teeth and looking around with a shy smile looking out towards the people who were watching us now.
I didn't care what they thought or said about me anymore. So, I got off my knees. I started to chuckle under my breath. But she wasn't laughing.
"Oh, Avery! Sometimes you can be a little bit more." She said with a shake of her head but with an enviable smile on her lips.
I knew she could not be angry at me long. I thought to myself.
I heard Angelstar and Angelica giggle at me inside my mind.
I growled at them. They stopped laughing when they heard me growl at them in my mind.
"Okay, I'll go with you, but you have to do one thing." She tells me.
Oh, boy,
I wonder what she is going to do and say now. I thought inside my mind.
"Oh, okay, what is that?" I asked her. I hope it has nothing to do with anything with the...
"I want you to confront the guys!" She spoke.
I knew it; she was going to say that.
"What?" I said, not believing what came out of her mouth.
"You heard me." Avery," she said with a knowing look on her face. She knew what she was doing. Right now, I am not liking it.
"But. Why I can't." That was the only thing I could think before the school bell rang. Once I had that communication with Natalie. I had a lot to think about this afternoon.
So, I left school and went to their cabin, knocking on the door. I was going to speak to the four and ask them what and why they were ignoring me and acting like I was invisible to them.
Natalie, she is right. I must ask them why they have been acting crazy and making me feel bad.
I knocked on the door again. I was waiting for them to come out and speak to me.
I want to know why and what I did wrong for them to treat me like shit.
I waited, and finally, I heard the door click and open.
I saw them standing there staring at me. I was so nervous and excited to know that they didn't have disgust on their face looking at me.
That was when I heard my name when I was thinking to myself.
"Avery, sweetheart?" I heard one of them say.
