Chapter 5 Forked tongue
His question made me startled. What does he mean? I remembered I rushed out of the room without a word, embarrassed, but I didn't think covering a small wound with a plaster was such a big deal.
"Have dinner with me this evening." I heard him saying that just made my frustration reach its climax. Even if I felt so bad, his invitation was more like an order than something I got to decide. As I wasn't able to say a word, I only swallowed and nodded.
When the lift door opened, leaving me no choice, I followed him. The driver was waiting for us already, like he knew I would come with him.
The way wasn't too long. The driver drove us to a club. As I looked out of the window, I had to realise the area was just as creepy as his castle was.
I followed him inside. When we arrived, the receptionist greeted us with a smile which emphasised her pretty pointed chin. It seemed like Mr. William was surrounded by beautiful women, which wasn't surprising at all.
"Sir, your private room is ready. Please follow me." She said, then she stood up slowly, slightly leaning forward, tucked her hair behind her ear, like she wanted to get all the attention on her cleavage. This movement maybe was unintentional of her. Despite that, I had that feeling she was aware of what she was doing. As she got out of behind the desk, her fight-fitting uniform showed her curves clearly. Moreover, it seemed like it was only me who noticed her flirtatious look she gave to Mr. William before she turned her back to us.
Actually, I liked these few casual movements of hers. These all expressed her feminine charms to the fullest. I wished I could be like that.
Even though she treated Mr. William as a special guest, after glancing at me displeased, she looked at him.
"Who is this?" She tried to ask him without me hearing it, and Mr. Williams only glanced at her without answering. He just continued strolling inside.
On our way, a tall man stepped next to me and sniffed the air.
"Smells good." He sighed in pleasure. But it wasn't like someone smelled a good scent of a perfume worn by a beautiful woman, it was like someone who smelled a delicious dish before starting to eat. This scene scared me so much, forgetting about manners, I hid myself behind Mr. William.
The man looked at him with a meaningful smirk, and he walked away.
"You don't have to be afraid," I heard William saying. This sentence was supposed to calm me, but the frustration was in me since we entered the place. The whole aura of the building made me want to freak out and escape the shortest way. Although it had gorgeous decorations, the dim light just made this feeling in me more intense.
We finally arrived in the private room, but as I stepped in, the receptionist stumbled at the door, causing her to fall into Mr. William's arms. That was the moment when I felt my heart would stop, as I saw a black snake tail at the woman's feet. "There is a snake." I shouted in fear, which made Mr William let her go immediately, and he embraced me. He glanced at the receptionist, who raised an eyebrow and had a strange smile.
"Miss, you must have seen it wrong. There is no snake here." She said, while she took two steps back to show me the floor was clear. I rubbed my eyes to clear my view, but there was indeed no snake on the floor. Feeling embarrassed, I got free from Mr. William's embrace and I found a seat inside, where I could see the entrance.
The receptionist gave us a slight smile, and she closed the door. I watched her until I could see her. After she closed the door, a tiny line remained which I could see through. I think my eyes widened when I saw a forked tongue sticking out between her lips, only for a moment before she twisted her waist and disappeared around the corner, just like a snake.

I closed my eyes for a moment, telling myself I saw that wrong. Convincing myself that it was only my imagination that was playing with me.
In a minute, a waiter appeared, and he brought in some tea. I took a few sips, and I had to admit that it had a pleasant aroma.
Mr. William handed me the menu.
"What would you like to eat?" He asked.
"I am not sure. Why don't you choose?" I asked him in unease. I was really curious why he wanted to have dinner with me.
Mr. William ordered a few dishes, and after the waiter finished serving them, and we stayed alone in the room, he looked at me.
"Are you afraid of me?" His question made me stunned, but I forced myself to stay calm.
"Why would I be? I am so grateful that you are here. How could I be afraid of you?" I lied.

"Is that so?" He asked me before he picked up his teacup and took a sip of his tea. As he swallowed, my gaze wandered to his neck, making me remember the day when I saw sweat trickling down his throat.
I lowered my head to have another sip from my tea. Feeling his gaze on me, made me think he was reading my thoughts, like he could reveal all my secret thoughts and emotions with one glance. "Did you not invite Miley?" I asked him, trying to sound normal.
"She is not suitable for this place." He answered me with indifference. The way he answered, and the content of it, made me feel terrified again.
"What do you mean by 'not suitable'?" I asked.
He sounded so weird, like he had some kind of emotion towards me. Compared to Miley, I was so plain and ordinary. There was no way he would like me more than his charming and alluring wife, I thought. "Literally speaking, her aura clashes with this place." He said that, like, he wanted to finish this conversation about Miley.
