Chapter 13 Moving out
Mr. William didn't answer, instead he strode over and sat on my bedside. He sat so close to me, my heart started to race instantly, and the scent of his perfume made me feel the now familiar arousal in my lower abdomen. I instinctively leaned back until I was against the headboard.
"Are you afraid of me?" His cold voice made me feel more horrible as he moved even closer. He was literally sitting in front of me, and his closeness made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I felt my face flushing and my heart pounded so fast I was worried I would have a heart attack, but this time the thought of revealing my unusual feelings for him made me feel worse.
I had to admit that human nature's attraction to beauty was instinctual. Seeing such a gorgeous man so close to me made me unable to control my body, and the worst was I knew having these feelings towards my friend's husband was wrong. I swallowed hard, and I was thinking of leaving the bed from the other side, getting my personal safe place back.
"Where is Miley? Why isn't she home?" I asked, but before I could finish the sentence, he grasped my chin.
Our faces were only a few inches apart, and I felt my heart was about to leap out of my chest.
His slender fingers gently caressed my skin, and his thumb brushed over my lips, moving inch by inch.
The shock made me forget to breathe, and I was unable to think straight.
All I could see was his face getting even closer to mine, and his deep eyes were fixed on me. I could even feel his breath on my face while he slowly moved even closer, like he was about to kiss me.
I was about to get in a daze, but finally, the picture of Miley appeared in my mind, and that was enough for me to wake up and push him away. I rolled off the bed from the other side and huddled against the corner of the wall, finding a sense of security in there at the window.
"You... You can't do this." I panted.
Mr. William narrowed his eyes dangerously, and a meaningful smile appeared on his face while he turned his head to look at me.
"Can't do what?"
He stood up, standing by the bed. He wasn't approaching, but I felt an intense pressure, as if refusing him would be unwise. I shook my head in confusion, knowing the whole situation was wrong. "William, Miley is my best friend. Your actions are not good for either of us."
"What actions?" He raised an eyebrow. "Trying to kiss you?" His tone carried a hint of mockery, making me more uncomfortable.
I didn't know how to answer. This situation was beyond my understanding. I had never been in a situation like this before, but my intuition told her that refusing was the right thing to do, as there was danger in accepting. After a moment of thinking, I felt a little braver.
"Thank you for taking care of me these days. I'll find a place and move out in a couple of days." I said, but as soon as I finished speaking, the atmosphere in the room darkened.
His face appeared displeased, and he stared at me with a blank expression, remaining quiet for a long time. I couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat on my forehead. I didn't understand his disappointment at all.
I had only experienced my horrible ex-boyfriend, so I had no idea about how to understand a man's mind.
Staring at me for a while, he finally got back to his senses. "As you wish," He answered faintly, then he left without hesitation.
His departure eased the tension of the atmosphere. I stumped down, releasing the anxiety and the fear from my heart. I sobbed quietly.
I had no energy to ponder William's mindset or to think about the future. All I knew, I had to find a new job and move out as soon as possible.
**William's POV**
I sat in the grandiose European-style retro study, in my classic leather sofa, and I toyed with a pen in my hand in a daze.
The butler stood on my side quietly, seemingly without a breath.
"How did those rascals find her?" I asked him, finally, when I felt calm enough to speak.
"It seems the incident the club leaked out, and someone caught wind of it, so they came to get a piece of the action."
"Get a piece?" I sneered. "They want to devour my food."
I knew he was aware of my state. I was furious.
"Rest assured, everything has been taken care of. No one will know about her."

I glanced at him, and feeling I had to do something to calm myself down, I threw the pen away.
"She has some charm, being able to resist the temptation of my appearance." I added.
When she pushed me away, I was surprised. I have lived for thousands of years, no woman had ever resisted the allure of my appearance. Humans were naturally obsessed with beauty, and that often surpassed their own rationality. They frequently lost their minds when they faced a captivating appearance. They just sunk into the beauty without being able to extricate themselves.
Those humans who could resist were extremely rare. I wondered if she could resist a third or fourth time.
My appearance attracted her. Even if she tried to hide that so hard, her body revealed her feelings.
Reminding myself about that made me smile, but there was also another thing in my mind.
"Those rascals, they'll show up when they smell the scent. A few of them won't be able to resist. Without me, she will be in danger at any moment."
"Does she want to leave?" The butler looked at me with a frown. "Sir, why not just eat her directly?"
Probably he heard that there was a Cake in the woman's body, a rare one that appeared only once in a hundred years. If she were consumed, she would bring me immense benefits.
I licked my lips, savouring the delicious taste of blood and Cake that satisfied me today, the legendary elixir that all monsters coveted.
"Food that has been frightened loses much of its flavour. Only food that remains lively and willingly consumed is truly delicious."
