The Unwanted Luna

Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 38

-POV Ayame- "Remember! You need to follow through!" Vil shouted and I flung the dagger with all my might at the intended target. He swooped out of the way and Vil nodded. "Good."

I continued to fight, slipping in and out of sticky situations while Vil shouted out everything I was doing wrong. "Keep your eyes on your opponent, Angel!" He shouted while I clenched my teeth. I never thought I'd be annoyed hearing my nicknames, but Vil is starting to make that a reality. It was irritating that the level of endearment I used to feel was now becoming distant, but what's worse is how it still affected me.

I felt my cheeks flush as I was pinned to the ground...again. "Don't let him distract you, either." Kyle said with a smirk and tapped my nose. I huffed and he pulled away, bringing me up to my feet.

"You two suck!" I grumbled, grabbing my water bottle.

It's been two weeks since I recovered from the...incident and all the guys have been training me nonstop since then. I am expected to defend my case back in New York but the lawyers found that it would be a challenge since I no longer 'exist.' I also have the giant monkey on my back - you know...the whole problem with my mother and all - and these giant apes want me to train. I just want to sit and get my shit together.

The sad part is, after my talk with the triplets, I don't even know if they really told me everything or if it was just what I needed to know, but the closer we got to that dinner party, the more I realized they were more and more on edge.

Hell, so was I.

I hopped out of the ring and removed my black gloves, gifted by Edon. I love these things. They are breathable and make it easier to lift weights and knock out opponents. I even use them while I run because they retain heat quite well. "Hey kiddo, how's the training?" Poppa Oden asked. Don't ask. He won't let me call him anything else.

I wrinkled my nose. "It's...a little violent for me." I confessed.

"They don't care if you don't like blood, Ayame." Vil warned.

I puffed out my cheeks and stuck my tongue out. "Nobody asked you." I called back.

I heard Kyle and Poppa Oden snickering behind me and Vil growled. "In the ring. Break over!" He shouted.

I winced and ran back onto the stained white mat bordered by ropes. He was not in the mood. Note taken. I brought my hands up to guard my face and Kyle shook out his hands before bringing them up as well. "Show 'em who's boss!" Poppa Oden called.

I took a deep breath as I heard Vil call for the fight to begin. Focus on the opponent. I slipped in and out of attacks. I felt the hits more and more as the days go on, but one of my triplets would take me to the doc every day to heel them, so at least I didn't have to hurt for long. Conri called it resistance training. Enjoy this chapter for free and stay updated with the latest version on Jo b_n i-b.com. Don't miss out, visit it now. I gasped as another blow made contact with my shoulder, but not for long. I gritted up my pain and kicked him right in the side. Kyle heaved and I took the opportunity to throw him in a sleeper hold.

Then, for the first time in two weeks, one of the ranked members had to tap out. I let go of him and collapsed on the floor. "Good job kiddo."

I shot a glare at Kyle irritably. I may be human, and it really is a feat for me to run toe to toe with everyone, but kiddo? "I'm only a few years younger than you." I noted.

He scoffed. "A few? Try seven." He couldn't hold back a laugh as he held out his hand for me to take.

I graciously obliged and pulled myself up with his help. "Ayame. A word." Vil called.

I shivered and walked out of the ring, slowly approaching my mate. "Y-yes?" We had been going at this for hours. What did I do now?

He pursed his lips and held out his hand. "Come on."

I looked at him in shock. "Where?" I asked. How is this 'a word' when he just wants me to follow him?

He groaned and grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the east villages. "Why do you ask so many questions?" He mumbled. When did we regress almost back to square one?

I bit my lip restraining the urge to yell at him and ask him what his problem was. While my brain decided the best course of action, I just decided to focus on the walk. After dragging me halfway down the road, he slowed down and started keeping pace with my short strides. I looked up at him, then back at the ground. I repeated this motion more than once before he finally huffed. "What is it?!" He asked like I was annoying him. Didn't he tell me that he wanted to talk?!

I ripped my hand away and stood my ground. "What is it? That is how you want to address this situation?! I haven't seen any of you for more than training in the last two weeks. I am terrified of what you all told me. I'm forcing myself to keep calm and train for something I am completely ill prepared for, and the only thing you can tell me is 'What is it?!"" I breathed heavily and he looked at me like I just slapped him in the face. "You know what, just leave me alone! I know the way to the doc. Do not follow me!" I shouted.

It wasn't like I was getting more confident around them. I was just...just so frustrated. I had a mouth on me my whole life. It's just someone beat it out of me. I guess it's finally finding its way back to the surface. I bolted past a very stunned alpha and sprinted all the way to Doc's little bungalow just outside the tree line. It was about a five-mile walk from the training grounds. We only made it about a mile in before I yelled at Vil and, while running, it would only take me an hour to find the destination. Tops.

I couldn't tell if Vil followed me and I didn't care. I was not a happy camper with him right now. Hell, with any of them right now. I knocked on the door lightly and let my breathing calm down. The Doc opened the door and immediately smiled when he saw my face. "Another day at practice then, huh?"

I huffed and let a smile grace my face for once this week. I could never be mad at him. He's like the grandpa I never had. "Yeah, and this time I actually pinned Kyle for once." I said, finally being allowed to express my menial accomplishments.

He chuckled lightly and opened the door further so I could come in. The place was small and just the right size for Doc. It was the first place I'd been where I didn't feel like an eight year old. The house was a perfect size for me, even if the ceiling was only a few inches above my head. That was much better than the giant cabin mansion I live in.

When I waltzed in, I plopped myself on his green loveseat next to the fireplace already warming the house with a fresh log crackling away under the flames. I inhaled, smelling something delicious. "Are you cooking?" I asked curiously.

"Why yes, I am Luna Ayame. I was actually almost done. Before I heal your wounds, would you like some?" He asked pleasantly.

I smiled and nodded quickly. I was starving. "Yes please."

He ushered me to the table and I ran over to the bathroom to wash up before coming back to take a seat in front of a steaming bowl of corn chowder. "Please, go ahead and eat."

I nodded. "Thank you for the meal." I said before diving in.

"So...how are you doing with the boys?"

I choked on my spoonful and cleared my throat, forcing my food down. "I don't know. They are getting more and more frustrated day after day. I'm worried that this whole nonsense with Prince Chaz is going to, um...come in between our relationship?"

He nodded and sipped some of his soup. I took another bite and enjoyed the warmth that the creamy broth gave me. It seems silly to think anything could come in between the mate bond, but to think the three of us were snuggled together two weeks ago and now I barely see them at all. The shift was almost night and day. "It seems like they aren't the only ones who seem stressed."

I sighed and nodded, placing my spoon in the already half eaten bowl. "They aren't. I just can't get past the idea that my mother doesn't exist. There is absolutely nothing on either of my parents. It's like my entire family doesn't exist. When I have enough time, I bury myself in any of the books I can find to see if there is some magical reason why this would happen, but I have come up with nothing!" He stared at me intently and I smirked at the furrowed brows shading his pensive eyes. "It's okay. The guys think it's weird how well I've acclimated as well." He shook his head. "No, that's not what I was thinking. I'm just in awe at how well you are taking all of this. You have only just turned twenty years old, my dear, and you seem to have the traveled life of someone much older than yourself."

I smiled but I felt my soul darken. "It's because I feel like I have. I feel like I'm losing my family. Like more than their actual deaths. My father at such a young age, then my mother at such an impressionable age made me grow up so fast, I didn't have the right to be a child and now I'm disrespecting their memory by allowing some unknown assailant to make even their memory disappear."

He hummed and took another sip. I followed suit and we were silent for a moment. "Maybe this is a magical thing. You never know. You always say that your mother called your father her soulmate. Maybe she is closer to our beings than you think."

I giggled lightly. "If only. My mother was as human as they come. I only know this because after the extensive research I've dug up, supernatural beings don't get mortal illnesses. They aren't slow to heal, and they aren't quick to age. All the things that happened to my mother. She's... she's definitely human."

"And your father?" I flinched as I tried to remember him. I was young when he died, but... my eyes grew. Wait.... Tried?

"Hmmmm.... Interesting. Even I cannot see him in your memories, child. Maybe you should start there."

I blushed and nodded. How could I forget my father?! I was definitely old enough to remember him when he passed and his pictures were all over the house that we lived in...right? I mean, I think? Wait, how old was I then? I furrowed my brow and continued to finish the delicious meal. I cannot let this distract my thinking. If I grasp onto my emotions and not the situation, I won't be able to focus on the challenges at hand. Right? Right. "I guess that makes sense. I'll start with my memories. That should be something, right? Maybe I should start with him." "Right you are. Now, let's get you bandaged up. It's almost nightfall. They will be seething if you aren't back to the pack house soon."

I grit my teeth. "Let them seethe." I grumbled.

Doc rolled his eyes and started the healing process. "Well, it's good to know you can jump back to normal rather quickly. You are really good at working well under these trying situations."

I nodded aimlessly while he coated my knuckles in the healing salve and wrapped them carefully. "I never had a choice but to learn to adapt."

"Yes, but remember what I said before, I may only see the past, but I see great things in your future. Don't settle for less because of what you think you are worth, Luna Ayame."

I nodded, trying to find hope in his words. It was all I had in this jumbled mind of questions and dead ends. "What future? Do I even understand my present?" I whimpered and he patted my hand gently.

"Not many of us do. Human or supernatural." He turned to look out the window. "You know, I think it would be better for you to stay here until they come to get you. Do you have your phone with you dear?"

I went to reach for my pocket and realized I was wearing my black gym pants with very cute cut-out designs, but no pockets. I slipped my hands through the small pockets in my crop top sweatshirt and again...no phone. Crap. I was about to freak out again, but I held my tongue and decided on a different route. "They should know where to find me." I nodded once and the doc laughed.

"Alright, alright, I'll grab you a pillow and a quilt. You can crash here until they come looking for you."

"Thanks Doc!" I called while he disappeared into the back room. I plopped on the couch and stretched, enjoying the silence while another ember cracked from the fire.

"Here you are." He said. I took the pillow and propped it behind my head before tossing the blanket over my legs; my shoes were long gone. "Oh, and I found this in my storage. It might be of some interest to you." He added, handing me a large book with a dark brown leather binding. "It's rather old, but it will give you something you didn't have before."

I tilted my head at the words on the front cover curiously. Bloodlines. I wonder why that would interest me. I shrugged and gave it a shot. "No problem. I'd be happy to look." I added, with an encouraging smile. I'm not going to knock any help at this point.

I pulled it open to the first page and it glowed lightly, but there were no words. I squinted my eyes as if I wouldn't be able to see the nonexistent print if I didn't. Still nothing. I let my hand rest on the aged parchment and a slight pinch riddled through my thumb. I yipped, yanking my hand away and watching the blood disappear into the books' pages. "Radavier Bloodline?" I said, staring at the words now bright and legible on the top of the opened page. What's a Radavier?

Seconds later, the door slammed open, and I fell off the couch at the sudden outburst. "What's wrong?!" The Doc asked, running out of his room.

I rubbed my head and looked up at the three men I had been begging to see the last few days, but most definitely don't want to see now. "Ayame." They all said together with relief.

"Nice to know you noticed I was missing." I said bluntly. Don't hate me.... It kind of just slipped out.

Their muscles flexed. "Are you kidding me right now?" Edon asked.

I looked away from them and got to my feet, folding the blanket and laying it on top of the pillow. "Thanks for letting me stay. Do you mind if I keep this book?" I asked, pointing to the large mystery sprawled on the floor.

"Of course. I'm glad you found something in there that interests you." He added with a smirk before heading back to his room. "Make sure to close the door on your way out dear." He called over his shoulder.

I spun around, slipped on my shoes and gathered the book in my hands. I walked out the door and pushed past the three of them. I noticed there was a car in front of the small cottage and I decided to ignore it. They want me to always be training anyway. What's another five miles? "Where are you going?" Conri asked. His voice was cold and it made a tear prick in my eye at the distance his words forcibly made.

"I'll walk!" I blurted out bluntly before trudging back to the pack house.
